  1. The government love big businesses , they do not take cash out the till !

They hate small businesses and will do to the max to get them out ..

they want to get ride of the cash society.

New laws for employment / regulations / controls !

Stick with small business and paid with cash..

Do not let the government fool you!

  2. Absolutely, the news is bad; it is going to put many people on the hedge! Condos will suffer too.

The stock market is not performing, the economy lame, very soon, the situation will deteriorate.

I am like many, I do not care what I am putting into the country, well what I am putting is not mine anymore and I never think of making a profit in Thailand, I bought a place on a Thai name, some people are good, and some are not!

My main assets are not in Thailand, and will not get buried with it anyway!

If I need to walk away from here, my dog will be the one I miss the most!

I never went for the doggy company limited; it is going to back fire.

If I was alone I will have been renting - go to the condo way – or perhaps the 30 years lease!

Wanting to be land owner in Thailand are not wise, will prefer to put my place with a thirty year lease and donation to charity at the end !

  3. An old argument - do you enjoy life when you are young, or work your arse off until you are 55 then come to Thailand with no financial worries, and the chance of dying when you're 56.

I know few people who got ‘ great sanok’ time when they was young , now the are bitter with life as they did not catch the merry go around at a early stage !

For my part I gamble everything on hard work , start as a apprentice at 16 in france , move to a country opportunity : Australia at 25 ( with $400 and one suitcase ) , hard work paid off ( work for two years , without a day off ) at 37 sold business , keep the freehold and my house and retired at 39 in Thailand !

Put myself on the stock market and now looking after my portfolio !

It is all in your mind , I was burn at mid 30 , but already achieve what I have to do !

    I was Middlescent .

  4. Thewet market has cheap plants. Open all week.

    Chatuchak market has cheap furniture.

If you have a weekend to spare, go up to 3 Pagodas Pass in Sangkhla Buri. Beautiful stuff up there. Sure, you need a pickup truck to bring it back, but it is worth the trip just for the sceney, even if you don't buy anything.

As an example, you can pick up solid teak outdoor settings (they look like tree trunks sort of) for about 10,000Baht (I think). Sounds expensive, but they are really lovely. Weigh a ton, but look great.

I live in Thewet , the plant market is good, buy i do not agree it is cheaper as chatuchak.

my friend who live in Tawet go to Chatuchak ( weekend market ) to buy his plants , he go on wednesday , wholesale / half price .

LOL did not check the date of the post , 2 years old ..

  6. What is the deal with these Thais who own shop houses worth 40 million baht+, yet only have a tiny little business downstairs selling food or newspapers?

Why dont they sell the house, and buy in a cheaper nicer area, and use the positive cash flow to create another business or invest in the financial markets? From the looks of them, you get the impression that they are not hanging out in The Emporium. I imagine that they do not sell their home because its been in their family, etc. So their children do not go to University because they have a business selling newspapers, etc.

Very bad money management, no wonder there are such drastic differences between rich and poor in Thailand. A very small minority of the people understand money and business.

"We dont use banks, we just buy gold necklaces and pawn them a month later losing 1/2 the value"

WOW 40 million baht for a shop house!! much less i suppose .. Father my friend bough his for 200000 baht 20 years ago , now about 6-7 million ( 6 stories ) .

China town are the most expensive holding for shop houses!

But 40 million is a lot of money for one!

  7. To be honest , i do not think French is necessary *!

I am French myself, but I seldom use it !

Perhaps it look good sometime to be able to converse in french !

*Nearly all diplomats persons speak French !

It is not adverse on anything to speak French ! but I will dedicate more my time toward Chinese language if I have to choose one .

It is fairly hard to learn , nearly all verb will change with the pronoun ! and you have the masculine and feminine for adjective and name .

    Good luck with it.

  11. Tesco Lotus has NO Extra King size.

Still don't know where to buy in Thailand.

Gladly like to go to BKK as long as I know where to go.

    Extra King = 200 cm x 200 cm( 6.8 x 6.8)

    King = 180 x 200 (6 x 6.8)

    Dutch

Why you do not approach a cotton factory and buy from them , then you need to get someone to fit it for you special size ?

  12. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has just confirmed to me that the retirement age remains at age 50 and over.
Yes, it is correct. This has been changed over 4-5 years.

    Requirements for retirement visa;

    - age 50 years over

    - income to support their living at least 80,000 baht per months (around 800.000/year)

this amount may be either deposit in Thailand or in their own country, confirm by

    with bank statement.

    - Certificate to prove that he/she is never involved in any criminal offences from

    police department.

    - Medical certificate to prove that he/he has no prohibited disease.

    - 3 application form with 3 photoes. fee about 5000 baht.

Once applicant arrived Thailand, immigration officer will grant permit to stay 1 years.

Anyways he/she should report themselves to local police every 3 months by

    turning up or letter.

If he/she is over 50 years of age, but could not meet the above requirements, it is

allow to apply for Non-Immigrant Visa category "O" with 3 months stay.

All These informations may be usefull to you.

The person that you talked to at the Chicago Royal Thai Consulate was, as suspected, incorrect. If you can get his/her name then I can ask the Ministry to instruct him/her directly.

Humm , i was in the impression , the 800000 need to be deposit in thailand only ...

  13. A Windows Genuine Advantage pop-up nags perpetrators...

(this may haqppened to you too)

    Windows Genuine Advantage

PC owners "running a copy of Windows that has failed the Windows Genuine Advantage validation process" will see:

It appears that you could be a victim of software piracy. The copy of Windows installed on this computer is not considered to be genuine by Microsoft."

And they'll keep on seeing it until their computers are running "genuine Microsoft Windows".

    They'll have two choices.

Click Resolve now or, click Remind me later.

There's also the dreaded Balloon Notification

"After you log on to a non-genuine copy of Windows XP, you receive a balloon notification message in the notification area that is specific to the validation failure. You can click the balloon notification or the notification area icon to open the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Failure Web page. This Web page gives you the specifics of the validation failure and the steps that you can take to make the operating system genuine."

Then the pervasive Desktop Banner Text which'll appear if perpetrators (or victims) choose Remind me later.

In that case, the following banner text appears on the "locked desktop":

"The copy of Windows installed on this computer is not considered to be genuine by Microsoft.

Luckily, if you had system restore running you could roll back the changes.

Hopefully, the remedy is on the way. (please PM me the details of the work around)

Thank you Condo-bkk about the idea off roll back .

i got the download from microsoft yesterday , and got the surprise this morning .

did the restore and everything back to normal , stop the auto updates !
