there is no such thing like quality salt except in the mind of some people who fall for false statements of other clever people who are making good money. NaCl (Sodium Chloride actually Natrium Chloride) in its highest purity does not differ at all no matter from what source the salt comes from. any difference in taste is added artificially and/or the salt is not pure.

BANGKOK: -- Today, the Gold Traders Association of Thailand reported that one gold bar (96.5%) is bought at 10,350 baht and sold at 10,450 baht. At the same time, one baht of gold ornament is bought at 10,202 baht and sold at 10,850 baht.

maybe I should buy a truck load at 10,202 and sell immediately for 10,850 making 648 bht profit per baht
so if I buy £100,000 GBP worth this equals 6,965,193 equals 682.75 baht of gold at 10 222
then i sell it for 10,850 that will get me 7,407,600 making a total profit of 442407 Bht
so if them figures are correct why is everyone doing it
good to have in thailand , but very hard to sell thai gold oversea !
You must be aware that if a gold dealer buys 96.5% gold jewelry at 10,202, they have to melt it down and reproduce another item, hence the mark up to 10,850. They're still only making a margin of about 100 bht per 1 baht (15.2g) item of gold jewelry. This margin for manufacture cost is their only avenue for negotiation. Gold is gold and has a spot price that cannot be bargained down.
1 baht of 96.5% gold jewelry weighs 15.2 grams = 14.668 grams of pure gold.
The gold margin (between buy and sell price) here is extremely low.
To work out the margin:
1 troy ounce = 31.1035 grams (approx)
1 baht of gold (96.5 %) at Thai gold shops = 15.2 grams = 14.668 grams of pure gold
31.1035/14.668 = 2.12 Thai bahts of gold per troy ounce at 100 bht each = 212 bht
These gold dealers here are in essense only charging 212 bht margin on the sale of 1 troy ounce of gold. That's only US$5.73 commission per ounce.
I think in Australia (it's been years since I bought gold there so excuse me if the figures are not 100% accurate) you pay about AUD $35 (US $27) per ounce commission. I'm not sure about the US, but it's similar.
Buying large quantities of gold is good value in Thailand, but how much can you take with you? Normally gold is considered as currency and can be given a spot value.

I got him down to 18k on the phone today.. thats for premium pack with no games.. Firmware pre flashed.
Considering I will prolly spend 300 - 350 usd and then have a us one (region issue on games) and need a 110v step down.. Probably better to get one here.. Sure it saves 100 USD but then its all through one local guy who I can hound if theres issues..

what i decide 1 year ago after my two visa start to charge me 3% fees on withdraw or purchases , is to do a transfer from Australia to my Thailand bank account , and do not use the cards so much !
I ring visa national and they give me a free annual fees on the national ( gold card ) for life , the ANZ re deposit my annual fees for the gold visa , but as they will charge me again next year and i need then to telephone to ask for a re deposit , i decide to cancelled it !
The rates of change is good with them , amex charge you 1.25 $ for one transaction but the rates is not so high !
You need to compare the fees and the exchange rates , for me the transfer work the best .

If any of you are interested I have just spent the last 6 Months of my time in Thailand withdrawing on my Wizard Clear Advantage Mastercard.
It is the best card I have ever used, no annual fees, no ATM fees, no conversion fees and very good exchange rates. Just before I make a withdrawal I Bpay (pre load) my account then go to any ATM and make the withdrawal. In the 6 Months I have been here I have not paid any interest or fees. All you need to do is pre load the card first and that's it, no fees!
If the cash rate is 27.75 and you use your Wizard card you will get about 28 Baht per dollar, the TT rate. Well worth it if any of you are looking for a new cheaper way of getting your money out. Cheers.

Bmanly, interesting , my visa National ( gold ) do not have annual fees, i telephone to then to get this offer , but the withdraw and purchase came around 3 % , i think the change rates is interesting !
my amex , have only a charge of 1.25 dollars per withdraw , but the change rates not so interesting ?
If you know , Bmanly can you tel me the change rates ( wizard ) against Visa rates same day ?
I use to have a other card , cancel it because the online banking was hopeless.

The one I download is block after I reset clock , got a return key but did not work !
Want to order ( buy ) it on line, but first I want to make sure I can access the registration keys, to do that I need to open the program !

Flexible on the games included side but must be the premium pack not the core system pack.
I think I would prefer an unmodified virgin one as I will then do a modchip myself.. I know whats in it then and will use a good one rather than a cheap one.
If you could find a BKK price I would be grateful.. Have a buddy coming from N america in 2 weeks so probably best prices I could find there.

I have one bad experience at the airport once , coming back from chiangmai , after a miss landing at maehonsong ( Thai airway ) have to turn back to chiangmai! waiting 1 hour for refund ticket and decide to fly back to Bangkok as all hotels was full in chiangmai and we already spend 4 days there!
Well after this 8 hours of completely non sense, we are back in Bangkok , we were waiting to get taxi ! got from the boot the 50 baht yellow slip !
I was with my 77 years old mother and my brother ! when the taxi start to drive , I told him to put meter ( in thai ), he sais not working keeping driving , I told him again put meter and he said the same , as soon as the taxi make a stop way back from terminal , I just open the door and my family follow!
The guy was here to rip-off someone ! do not want to call race , but he was not a thai looking guy .
I walk back to the boot , I walk the first and let my mother and my brother walk slowly ! perhaps 600 metre , in the bangok heat, arriving to the booth , I was furious ( but as I live at this time for 5 year I try bit the jai yen ) situation , and I went to talk the lady , my Thai is good enough to say , few word ( mother 77 year old ) but anyway her English was better !
In the main time the taxi come back, trying to look like if he do not understand the situation and yes his meter was working , he did put it one when he was alone !
I explain to her what happen, my mum and my brother confirm what he done !
the guy was history, security got call , the lady to him off , half screaming to him ! everyone waiting taxi was watching ! and he got very strong reprimand by the boot people, she write is number plate and his name .
I did not see what else as they give me a new taxi straight away !
I hope that will show sometime you need for principal to stick to your right !

I buy the Mae Ploy brand if i am not in thailand !
i find the best for curry : when you open the top of the tin , take the heavy part of the coconut milk and cook with your curry past first ! after add the rest of the milk plus add some liquide as it is to rich !
