  1. Thanks for the info, sunrise07 and thetefldon. I assume that the climate is relatively "cool"... at least missing out on the very high temperatures experienced elsewhere in Thailand!!! Nong Hin certainly sounds nice..... we will be visiting Prachuap around February time next year and will certainly have a look. We are torn between renting and buying a house......... but at those prices we may well buy. Do you live there on a permanent basis??? I´m a keen cyclist myself - is it a suitable area for a racing or mountain bike?

  2. If you´re not impotent, but are simply no longer the youngest of men and merely require a "boost" to get you going, then I consider viagra/kamagra as ideal. I´ve been taking a third of a pill (from chemists in Bangkok) for some years now before sex - not because I´m stingy but simply because a whole pill gave me an uncomfortably (!!!!) hard penis and created a slight headache afterwards. With a third of a pill (you can cut them up into 3 parts quite easily with a sharp knife) I have a great erection and enjoy it tremendously each time (so does my wife.................. :o ). Never yet suffered a heart attack (I´m 55) or side affects....... :D

  3. Just a general question to all you dog experts............... I would love to get a dog when we move to Thailand but my experience of dogs in Thailand (mainly in Isaan....) is that once one dog begins to bark and howl at night, the whole dog population in the street/village joins in within minutes. Do you dog owners actually get any sleep or can they be trained not to howl without any reason (other than that the rest of them are howling)???? :o

  4. Sorry..didn´t express myself clearly....."there" refers to Prachuap.

An acquaintance, who has spent some time on and off in Prachuap, told me some moons ago, that a ferry was planned between Prachuap and Rayong. Has anyone heard of this????

Secondly, my thai wife and I are planning on moving there from Germany in the not too distant future. Are there any other Thaivisa members there??? Would anyone recommend - or otherwise - the town???

Where is "there", Prachuap Kiri Khan or Rayong?

  6. It never ceases to amaze me, that there is always someone, somewhere, ready to relate some current event here and proceed in alarmed way to try to convince people, that this is in someway related to Thailand. What a load of waffle.............................. :o

  7. My wife´s cousin (thai) and her husband had a considerable sum of money (as well as some thai jewellery) in a safety deposit box in the vaults of a well-known Bank in Berlin. Just over a week ago there was a lot of building - and excavating - going on at the bank and on the weekend before last a gang of (apparently Polish) thieves broke into the vault.............. but through the rear wall !!!!! They emptied all the deposit boxes. Neither of them wishes to say exactly how much they lost - it pains them to think about it - but he said, he could have bought a Porsche with it!!!!!!! The money was not illegally gained..... they wanted to take it to Thailand with them...... Fortunately he had invested some of it earlier this year in stocks..... but just hadn´t got around to doing anything with the rest. Is it safer to keep your money under the pillow at home??? (assuming you don´t want to deposit it with a bank....). He is meeting reps of the bank this week together with his lawyer in the (very slim) hope that he will get some of it back... but it is in the nature of deposit boxes, that one doesn´t declare beforehand how much one has in it!!!!

  8. This route has been cover a few times within the past four months or so in the Pattaya and Issan forums.

    Do a search.

Another wasted " do a search " posting whe somebody has already given the OP the answer. A lot of posters dot have the savvy knowlege of using the search feature and like myself dont want to read OLD posts when you can easily get an answer from a KIND knowledgeable poster. It annoys the hel_l out of me when people just post USE THE SEARCH BUTTON.

Rant over but stand by every word :D

Hear hear... if the miser :o able buggers don´t want to give an answer, they would do much better just to remain silent!!! :D

  9. Herr Ralf-Günter Krolkiewicz is a book-author and was a theater director in Potsdam.

In 1984/85 he was imprisoned by the East German Secret Police. ohmy.gif

His breakdown was apparently due to his suffering from Morbus Parkinson.

My sympathy to the man involved.............................. as a Brit, living in Berlin for many years, may I just point out, however, that this is nowadays fairly normal behaviour for Germans ..... reunification has turned most of them bonks.....only think about Milchkaffee and Latte Macchiato......not like in the good old days when they were renowned for their diligence, discipline, Fleiß und so weiter........ das waren Zeiten...das waren Zeiten....... :o

  10. ]The word loan when translated in thai is gift, that is how most if not all loans are percieved by most thais.............

This is enlightening information and what I have thought also without knowing about the translation. Thanks Mike.

Could you give the word you mean in thai script??? I find it hard to believe that the word "loan" would necessarily be translated as gift.

  11. A man walks into a pet shop and says to the owner. "Ok I want to buy a pet, but I don't want an ordinary pet - no cats, dogs, budgies, I want something really different."

The owner tells him that he has a talking centipede.

    "Seriously?"

"Absolutely. You can bring it back if it doesn't talk"

    "How much is it?"

    "£200"

"OK, but it had better talk or I'll be back!"

And off the man goes with his centipede in a little box. On getting home he opens the box on the table, and says "Hello

Mr Centipede, fancy going to the pub for a few drinks?"

The centipede says nothing. Thinking it might be tired from the journey, he decides to leave it for an hour and try again later.

An hour later he opens the match box and says "Hello Mr Centipede, fancy going to the pub for a few drinks?"

    The centipede again says nothing.

Now very suspicious, the man decides he will give it one more hour. If the centipede doesn't talk, he'll take it back to the shop for a refund.

An hour later the man opens the match box and says "Hello Mr Centipede, fancy going to the pub for a few drinks?"

The centipede gives him a withering look and says "I heard you the first time! I'm just putting my shoes on!"

  12. I have spent a lot of time in Yasothon and Ubon Ratchathani in the past, and now my life revolves around Mahasarakham, where my young family resides (I've been living in Sydney for the last 2 and half years on an international work assignment but my home is in London, UK and I was born and raised in Rome, Italy). There are farang living everywhere in Isaan notably in the Khon Kaen - Udon Thani belt but for some reason the Buri Ram - Surin brigade seems to be the most vociferous online. How comes?

They have a leader.........whereas the rest of us chickens and hens don´t have a cockerel to keep us in line........... :o
