  1. Perhaps it's because of people harping on about riding a bicycle in an average 90 degrees Faranheit temperature for 20 or 30k's.

Ok up to them if they enjoy it, but I'm guessing most people don't.

I think you (BFG) and the benevolant power drinkers in FC might agree with me here. And there is no need to hi-jack threads when they have a post of there own running in conjuction with this one.

    Let's drink and be merry!

P.S. Have they enroled for the TV piss-up and will they be cycling back home in the morning??????? I very much doubt it. :bah:

    John........

The idea of cycling is to get the muscles moving, the heart pumping, the blood flowing and generally sweat profusely............ :D and as for going 20 or 30 ks................. it´s hardly worth pulling on your cycling shorts for such a short distance!!!! It has to be 50 ks or bust............... and too hot???? Fiddlesticks............. you create your own breeze while cycling, which keeps you moderately cool.........it´s stopping for long breaks that make one hot and tired..................... :bah: And when the tour is over........how do you think a beer tastes THEN??????----- ;) Anyone disagree????????????? :D

I admire your dedication and tenacity to doing what you enjoy. However I just think you might find it slightly difficult to recruit any of the locals in the FC to join you (they can barely be bothered to drive there). And any direct suggestions you might make for them to join you might result in a fatal heart attack!!!!! :o

Still keep on peddling, if I drive past a bunch of farang cycling along the roads of issan I'll know who it is......

    Good luck.

    John

Can I take your words to mean that they´re a load of lazy buggers across there?????? :D Just wait till I get out there....... I´ll have them all as fit as fiddles....or as dead as posts.....in no time........ :D:o

  2. You´re making me jealous!!!! My wife and I will in fact be in Thailand from 15 March until 5th April next year..........but 5 other members of the family from England will be accompanying us as well!!! So I´m afraid - after shouting off my mouth about real men not cycling for less than 50 km without a break....... :o - I won´t be able to join you.... not until we finally make our move out that way for good............ but I´ll be in training until then, don´t worry....and I expect every other able-bodied cyclist in Isaan to do the same.......... when I get there, the last one to cross the 50 km mark buys the round for a week........... :D

  3. Never set up a business in my name but I think you need to invest at least 2 million.

Why not rent a little shop in your name for 1,2,3 years with an option to extend, put the business licences in your Thai friends name, don't spend too much on a shop fit and give it a go!

    Good Luck.

I think you´ve got your priorities wrong here...... FIRST you must have the business idea........THAT will determine how much you need to invest......and THEN rent a shop, if needed..........

  5. I´m just back from a venture into the Buriram thread........... I´m afraid I was sort of booed out........ and all because of the weather there......... :o Is anyone here involved in rice harvesting in/around NBL???????

  6. .........and I´m sure the German nationals hiding behind the TV profiles will shake in their boots and realize the seriousness of my threat when I say........ "vee heff vays off making yu tok"............ so spit it out...... just where do you all come from... and how old are you .......particularly the ladies....... :D

Ve are reading your effery vord and keeping a file on you.

Ach, Du Schreck....... a real Kraut.......... :D:o ........... now zer are 2 av us to squeeeeeeeeeeze out ze nessessery informashion...... :D

  7. I´ll risk it again and make another comment...... in the hope of not being jumped upon again.......... :D I asked a few posts back how many people were actually in Buriram - and why - because I read various posts on Buriram but can´t make out from the mass of postings just why so many of you are in Buriram...... yes, your wives are there, as macb said..... but why, for example, are comparatively few people in the Nong Bua Lamphu area?? Can´t answer the question myself... it´s probably a dumb one..... :o ...no doubt down to sheer coincidence, nothing else. On the other hand Udon Thani is swarming with them......... obviously a more attractive place.....

May I, however, venture to suggest that the thread would perhaps be better - and more readable - if there weren´t daily weather reports ......... I mean........ it´s not as if the weather is really changeable in Thailand....... :o It really is a case of hot, hotter or hottest.......... :D No disrespect meant, macb..... just my humble opinion...... ;)

    Hi Nongwahyay

I think a lot of members who do not live full time in Buriram are appreciative of Macb's weather report as it helps them keep an involvement with the area.

Myself when I am out of LOS it is good to know what is happening with the weather /rain etc. How it is effecting my plants, fish, pond etc.

Asking the family I always get the same response irrespective of whether they have had a downpour or a drought! Everything OK, no ploblem :D .

    TBWG :bah:

If Nongwahyay is not interested in the weather :D in the Buriram area why does he bother to read Mac's posting,i agree with TBWG those of us who are not at present in the Buriram area find the weather reports that are posted of interest as more often or not a telephone call to loved ones will get the No Problem/Fine/Ok response.

    Carry on POSTING. :bah:

oi...mate... I´m interested in reading items from people all over Isaan...... you can´t tell me I should go elsewhere and read, just because I don´t like the weather reports..... I accept it´s ok, if a lot of people are interested...... I was only expressing an opinion in a civil manner....... are Buriram people shirty, by any chance?????? :D (only joking...... )

  9. When I look at the profiles of various members here, I see that the great majority are totally lacking in detail....... very few reveal their location, even less reveal their age or sex.......... are most TV members criminals on the run with something to hide?????? :o

We're not listing it because of stalkers like you!! :D

I actually came to Berlin in 1976 as a spy. listening in on the East German government - used to work for GCHQ in Cheltenham at the time....... some of you may know it - but don´t let that put any of you off from revealing a bit more detail about yourselves......... I´ll get it out of you anyway......... :D

  11. [

it is in my street the land is as expensive as rayong :D

    Where exactly is your street?????

and i wish they do an airport there, because once i move there i will try to make an airstrip for ultralight, to fly over the udon rat dam.

...... for your own private use????????? :o

  13. According to one of my wife´s brothers, they are planning to build an airport at NBL shortly - does anyone have further details on this???? If not, I´ll make enquiries when we are there next year. It looks like NBL will be THE place to live in soon................. :o

  14. I think there's a fairly current thread here, but it may be in the Motoring forum rather than the Bikes subforum. You might search both places for "Platinum."

I found the more recent thread or topic for you: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...amp;hl=Platinum

Many thanks for the tip.............. you certainly saved me wasting my money on what seems to be a load of rubbish...... I´ll stick to the well-known names after all!!!!!

  15. I´ve read a lot of this thread and various other mails but was just wondering, whether there are really so many people in the Buriram area as it appears..... and was simply wondering why Buriram???? I´m not implying anything more in my questions....... :D I hit on the HUH randomly... it could just as well have been a .... :o

  16. I´d be happy to meet up with you - and others - for a drink and a chat...... as I wrote, we´ll be in NBL from approx. 25th March until 3rd April next year.....................

  17. As I wrote in a another thread, my Thai wife (from near Nong Bua Lamphu) and I (a Brit.........) will be moving to NBL in the near future from Berlin and we are both (well, I suppose more I than she…….) into cycling, regularly training at home (spinning bike) and at weekends, when we do 40-50 km trips. I would hope to meet up with some of you cyclists maybe once a month – each time at a different location – to do 50-60 km stretches over a period of , perhaps, 2-3 days, all depending on how much time and interest everyone has. Differing levels of stamina or interest shouldn´t matter, as they can easily be overcome – in Berlin I like to ride much further and faster than my wife but we overcome this simply by my going off at a tangent at various points and then meeting up with my wife again at pre-determined resting points………….it works like a dream and each of us can go at his/her preferred speed and not get annoyed by the sloth/speed of the other!!!!! :D

I´m perhaps not really the best person to organize things at this stage (as I´m still in Berlin), but I would nevertheless be very interested in putting in my 2-penneth worth whenever suitable…… and in helping in any way I can. We will be in Thailand from 14th March until 5th April next year so perhaps could meet one or other of you for a chat and a drink. :o

  18. My wife from near Nong Bua Lamphu and I are planning on moving to the area permanently in 2-3 years........... when I plan to set up a cycling club and get everyone - yes, that includes the boozers amongst you - to join in on a Tour de Isaan .... of course we´ll be checking your urine at the end of every leg for traces of doping (called "taking the piss" in professional circles). I´m counting on hundreds of you joining in, as I´ve been reading recently about a lack of things to do there........ :D

Care to share your plans of s cycling club? I ride every day but it gets boring riding alone all the time. It would be cool to have a network of issan riders to join up with.

    Hey Nidge,

Get on with it. Start an Isaan Cycle club. I will be among the first to join. You cyclist will need a lazy twit like me following you in a pickup with spare tires, parts, and refeshments. Sounds like great fun and lampard10 will be delighted with the new post on the forum!

There is a "Cycling in Isaan" thread running parallel to this, so I think I´ll switch my reply to there... if you don´t mind following me???........ :o

  19. What is the attraction of Buriram??? I may be wrong, but I get the impression that there are quite a few Farangs in the Buriram region - why???? Is there something special about Buriram that attracts so many (??) people there??? Or I am I totally mistaken????????? :o
