A false positive incidence of 0.8% makes the tests 99.2% accurate and of 4%, 96% accurate, so if these figures are even close to being correct the PCR tests look quite reliable.
Your figures are incorrect as they only subtract potential false positives from 100% when there are other potential outcomes such as false negatives or inconclusive.
It may be the best test we've got, but when The Lancet report describes this as potentially "adversely affecting the positive predictive value of the test" then it has to raise some doubts and cannot be termed reliable enough IMO.

I believe only if you are in receipt of the U.K. State Pension.
No. I've got one in my passport and not old enough for state pension.

I don't know what Q & A you're referring to, but the screenshot shows Non O being for retirement, and the London Embassy website clearly shows holders may enter, as do many other embassies. There may be contradictory information floating about but this seems clear to me.

Seems like these acronym are made by throwing darts at the alphabet.
ANA was originally Nippon Helicopters, hence NH, but not many will know that nowadays.

There is a list of who can enter and RETERMENT is not on the list, regardless of if you have the money in the bank and/or a re-entry permit.
Non-Immigrant O is on the list, and if applying you will see this screen so it appears Retirement is certainly covered.

QR = Qatar Airways?
NH = ?
UA = United Airlines?
BR = ?
SQ = ?
SQ is Singapore Airlines
NH is ANA
BR is Eva

Whether there are any special rates for couples, I know not . . . .
There are. Several hotel brochure sheets mention the cost of an additional person sharing the accommodation.

They only have 10 and all are currently grounded.

For one stop flights between BKK and IAH the choices are Qatar, EVA and ANA.
And Emirates.

It still makes me worry leaving all my savings accessible online and my only access to my money is my ATM card.
You should always have a backup so at the very least open another account in Thailand you can transfer the money into on line should you lose the ATM card for example.

Anybody want to enlighten people on the % false positives associated with these tests and if the test actually identifies the virus?
False positives in the UK are estimated to be between 0.8% and 4% according to a recent article in The Lancet, a figure described as "a significant proportion".

I don't see it listed as a requirement on the STV website, but if you look at a Thai embassy website (I looked at 2, the US and UK) then 500k is still required.
Yes, hopefully the change will flow down to them.

There is a complication though. I learned that Bangkok Bank does not allow online international transfers to banks that are not in Thailand. I was planning to transfer my money to a Mexican bank.
It does, but you need to set it up while you are still here. They may request a work permit or proof of incoming funds.

Upon checking, it looks like i am correct. 500k in the bank is a requirement only for the STV visa - which is a 90 day visa renewable 2 times.
Thailand Longstay have removed the financial requirement for an STV.

Incidentally is my attachment a typical example of what you mean by Confirmation Letter or Credit Advice Letter as issued by Bangkok Bank?
Sorry no idea, as I've never seen one and only know about them through discussions on here.

Qatar Airways will almost certainly require a PCR test to board the flight. Even if you have no intention of entering the country and are merely transiting the airport.
If you want to avoid the PCR test requirement, you'll need to fly direct to Europe.
Qatar removed that requirement from passengers departing from Thailand a couple of weeks ago.

Which is what I said except you are extending your permission to stay not the visa. A 90 day non-O isn't based on retirement. If you have a non-O does it say retirement on it? No. That word is only used on your extension of permission to stay.
This is part of the application which uses the retirement word.

Do I need to do anything or just present papers at passport control in savarnabhumi ?
You need a COE before travelling. Read the link supplied above for info on how to get that currently.

It's a report of having been in the country for 90 consecutive days, so if you depart there's no need to report. The 90 day period will start again when you re-enter, and no ill effect on your visa status.

Once TransferWise have informed you that they have sent your funds on their merry way to Thailand it will then be possible for you to download a "Transfer Confirmation" report in pdf format which gives details of how much was transferred in your home country currency, how much this converts to in THB, and details of the Thai bank account into which the THB conversion is to be credited.
Yes, agreed, but I've only seen a couple of reports of these Transferwise docs being accepted by immigration, and suspect some offices may not be keen on them. The Confirmation Letter or Credit Advice Letter I referred to comes from a Thai bank (maybe the TW partner the transaction routed through?) and coming from a Thai source is acceptable to immigration. A hassle to get no doubt, but may help the OP if he needs it.
