  1. If your parents have joint names on their utility bills then you are not classified as living there if no utility bills have your name on them. So you can't keep your UK license registered to that address. Do not feed the troll.
  2. If a utility bill in your name is asked to prove abode and identity then that could prove difficult. Next question. What is your address for the other45 weeks of the year.
  3. Exactly as my wife sees it. I know this and so does my wife & daughter. It simply boils down to keeping ones fingers crossed. Even if my daughter fails now you can be sure she won't give up. The band she's in won the competition they were in yesterday. Next round in Roi Et. PS the band competition is nothing to do with GMM. 2 separate things.
  4. David Paul Evans · Follow Former Head of Fintech Partnerships (2017–2022)4y Yes. It’s no longer enough to have a U.K. address to renew your licence; the DVLA will look for proof of residency. My UK licence came up for renewal after a few years of living in Ireland and I wasn’t allowed to renew even though I still had a flat in London at the time. The one way around that is to keep paying some U.K. utility bills (as “proof”) but that’s not often practical.
  5. I see your point of view, along with all other responders, to my problem. My wife thinks that because she's never seen/heard of any complaints about GMM taking advantage of their stars, for want of a better word, then they must be okay and I'm worrying too much. I'm kinda stuck in a hole of what to do for the best. Either way I can see myself getting the blame if things go tits up. But if things go well it'll be 'I told you so'.
  6. Had words with my missus yesterday evening and she's decided she will ask some of the questions posters and I have raised. A question for some intellectual. When signing a contract is there such a thing as a cooling off period whereby one can change their mind after having the contract copy legally looked at?
  7. My wife tells me that out daughter can't sign a legal contract until she reaches 20.
  8. Chris thank you for your concerns but one step at a time for us. All depending on the outcome of the meeting with GMM can we possible think of other avenues to go down. Both my wife and daughter see nothing but GMM as the way forward and due to their name and their reputation that's the way they want to go. We live in the the NE and my daughter is in boarding school in Korat both making life somewhat more taxing than usual.
  9. You messed up with your answer. Read my post again.
  10. If someone uses an address on their UK licence when they don't actually live at is committing an illegal act. Liverpool has best answer so far.
  11. Thank you for your praises mate. I wus at a school band competition today in Phimai. Out of all the participants my daughter was the only singer that sang in English. It brought a tear to my eye. Dunno how the band fared as the judges did their marking later. Back to your questions. Sorry but I can't answer them until we've been to Bangkok and met the reps from GMM. As a matter of course due to our daughters age my wife has already spoke about having her implanted with contraception. Not that we know she's sexually active. But better safe than sorry. With regards to having a chaperone that will also be asked about on Dec 21. Unfortunately my MiL is away and in the event of her suddenly appearing she's in the running for the job. So until the 21st we're non the wiser but be sure I'll be asking questions even though my missus won't want me to.
  12. Do not feed the troll. Having the wrong details on your licence is an offence. It will invalidate your licence and insurance.
  13. I'm in no going to knock them for that. It's a business first and foremost.
  14. Not necessarily. Out in the sticks the police carry out road stops anywhere without their station being nearby. Just a bit of info for the uneducated. People always seem to excuse the police because they are badly paid. That really isn't the case. Under article 44 the Department of Land Transport it tells you that they get 5% of any fine and the police get 95% of any fine issued. The more tickets that are issued the higher their wages are. So why aren't they out there working their asses off?
  15. Of course it has, for the last 300+ years.
  16. Why do you demand to know where the police station is? The officer sitting at the table is where you pay your fine. He will give you a receipt. No money to pay? He will hold your keys till you come back and pay the fine. I'm sure you won't be long.
  17. Here's what Nicola Sturgeon wants for the Scots. https://www.gbnews.uk/gb-views/an-independent-scotland-would-be-a-disaster-for-scotland-and-a-tragedy-for-the-uk-says-mark-dolan/320946
  18. Why change the system? It's worked well enough for many a year. Question is would Scotland be capable of going it alone! Answer to that is 'no' as they already want to rejoin the EU. Why destroy something that works only to join an uncertainty with no guarantees?
  19. I don't either but that's the system in the UK.
  20. Selling unripe durian in Thailand carries a 3 year jail term.
  21. Agreed in some parts of the above. But in saying that, it's not my wife that is/ has been pushing my daughter. My daughter has been signing herself up on the internet for auditions since she was 7. My wife has only been the transporter/guide to the events. We've all been on TV at sometime in the past The Voice, Work Point and CH7 to name 3 studios. I personally hate the lime light and could do without it but ......................
  22. What expectations GMM are wanting haven't been discussed yet. We go to see them in Bangkok on 21st December. Hopefully after that things will be a lot more clearer!!!!
