  1. How do immigration know that the photo's they are looking at are of where you live?
  2. So that makes it okay to hiss farang about? What happened to 'all born equal'? May be it is their country but that doesn't mean I can't live here. I'm sure we don't make Thais in our country show 800,000 every year at immigration.
  3. A farang woman married to a Thai male, even though she works as a school teacher, does not have to show 400,000 Baht for her visa/extension. Ridiculous. Totally wrong.
  4. You made a quote but failed to attach the source of your quote. In breach of forum rules I believe? I'll put it for you. https://thepattayanews.com/2022/11/19/nightclub-goers-tested-positive-for-drugs-in-pattaya-entertainment-venue-crackdown-passport-inspections-for-foreigners-to-continue/
  5. That is only hearsay so still no proof it happens.
  6. I have 3 children all had to obtain ID cards on turning 7 years old. It's compulsory. https://www.google.com/search?q=age+for+thais+to+carry+id+cards&rlz=1C1CHZN_enTH983TH983&oq=age+for+thais+to+carry+id+cards&aqs=chrome..69i57.15851j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  7. This is Thailand. They don't even obey the laws of the road. ID cards are issued here at 7 years old. What's a policeman going to do to a 7 year old who's forgot his before he left the house? And if the 7 year old can't pay the fine are they gonna lock him up till he does? It's a mad house.
  8. Same as me. And in 17+ years I've never known anyone to be asked for it by the RTP. Not even when involved in a auto accident. 4:10 minutes in
  9. Having lived in Kirkcudbright for a number of years in the past I wouldn't give them the time of day. They think they're hard done by by the English for stealing their oil. I'm sure they think they'd all be millionaires if it wasn't for us.
  10. What a load of tosh. What happens week-ends and holidays? Or the the friend is sick ?
  11. Not disbelieving you but can that be quoted?
  12. I've Googled till my finger hurts and I cannot find a written down law quote that says a passport must always be carried. Nor can I find a legal quote for the fixed penalty if you don't. It's all cock and bull.
  13. The best solution to all this tosh is to read this link. https://tastythailand.com/do-you-need-to-carry-your-passport-in-thailand-at-all-times-no-you-dont-and-here-is-why/
  14. Dunno if showing the link is permissible hence why I haven't put it. But the quote is directly from Immigration.
  15. Hence why I said 'BS'. They're very unlikely to ask for something that will make them lose face. I've told you this before. Never in my 50+ years of travelling the world has any copper in whatever country ever asked me for my passport. May be they can judge a person on appearance?
  16. Only 2 places I take my passport and they are the bank and immigration. Both only once a year. For those that claim a policeman ask for their passport surprises me as I doubt yer average Thai plod would know what he's truly looking at. For sure he's not going to understand the date stamps as Thais have their own calander years. He sure as hell wouldn't know what the immigration stamps are for.
  17. And I say those that bow to any command cus they're bricking it that cause all the problems at immigration.
  18. Can't you go some ways in to why you recommend. It helps
  19. For me I find the most stupid thing is that they want my children's photo's as well. Apparently up until they turn 20. Don't they exist after that?
  20. Ex PM Abhisit Vejjajiva has British citizenship. Odds on he can own Thai land. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abhisit_Vejjajiva#Early_life_and_family
  21. If you have children you need to have the children in the photo.
  22. Don't forget 'no cost' to do the transfer. If the officer says there is a charge then tell him you will want a receipt.
