  1. My missus turns the car aircon off prior to parking up and not switching it back on until the car is running again. I ask her why but says she can't remember but someone told her to do it. She also believes in placing a red effigy outside the house keeps ghosts away. PS. Not my house but an example.
  2. Why not change your account to Nationwide Internet banking? I did it with the Cooperative bank and now use 'Smile Bank' I have no UK address.
  3. By some farang who knew her before he came here and married her. When a new guy enters the village in the past the one thing she doesn't want is for her new husband to is get to know me a farang who know too much. An expression the Thai women use is 'Farang Roo Mak Mie Dee'. Excuse spelling. And they will do their utmost to make sure you don't educate her new husband. Usual thing is if you go for a beer with him she will sit as close to yous as possible to put you off. Also she will spread discrediting rumours about you, putting off any friendship you intend to have with her husband. I met a guy some years ago who introduced himself to me and after telling him my name he suddenly belted out ' Oh, so you're the chicken killer?' <deleted> I lived 10 k's from this guy but tales got around that I killed other peoples chickens. FKW as I'd only been living here a short time. I put it down to his wife not wanting him to know things about her that I may divulge. So she created an atmosphere. Most do it.
  4. I was informed many years ago that the monies cannot be in a fixed term account. The IO want to see movement in your account. If not, what are you living on?
  5. Makes life easier to stay here and because you fell in love. But in your case you didn't. Hats off to you.
  6. Before they implement zebra crossing laws they need to decide what a zebra crossing looks like and what part of the carriageway it covers. I'm sorry to say but the Thai interpretation of a zebra crossing is up in the air.
  7. This is the probs. I answered a question tuther week regarding why Thais seem to copy other Thais. I put it down to Monkey see, monkey do and had my post deleted due to being racist. Who decides what's racist?
  8. What's the point? The police have the same intellect as the people they are trying to police. The schools around here only get traffic control in the morning. In the afternoon it's then look out for yourselves. I'm surprised that when the police do school patrols they don't place a broken tree branch prior to the school crossing. It works for lorry breakdowns.
  9. Just finished watching the first episode of 'Slow Horses'. Brilliant. I hope it stays that way?
  10. I never realised 'agents were legal' at immigration offices. Didn't 'The Big Joke' at one time put a ban on all agents from IO's?
  11. I find that hard to believe. In the years I've been doing extensions I've never had an IO sit and do a comparison check on the documents/photos used the year before. May be it's just me?
  12. Joint bank accounts is the way to go if it's only monies and only the two of you. I can't understand the need for lawyers etc. I have 3 biological children here with my wife. Any monies I want them to have after my passing can be sorted by the wife. Some people seem to be making mountains out of molehills employing lawyers.
  13. How do they know they are the same as last year? When you do your application there is nothing to indicate the old photo's are on file. At Buriram IO they also make me, dunno if it's a general rule, show my children's birth certificates and a photo of all 3 of them together. I just give them their old photos.
  14. Not that I condone the use of agents but many up here in Isaan use Pattaya agents.
  15. Well how come Thailand has one of the highest road deaths listings per year. What a silly statement to make.
  16. No need. My wife just carries on with the joint account as if I'm still here. She's been doing my/our annual money transfer with her Debit Card for a few years now. I could have died 10 years ago but they still don't refuse payment cuz my wife does the annual transfer. Same applies in Thailand. Joint bank accounts and she makes the withdrawals. No need for wills etc. Just joint bank accounts if you have a stable relationship.
  17. In the event of my death there really is no need to inform the bank as my wife can carry on making withdrawal's. She has her own Debit Card. She can make withdrawal's with that in Thailand or she can transfer via 'Wise'
