  1. Given the hit was in the region of the engine room which is at the stern of the vessel its doubtful that it would be a mine, more likely a torpedo or a missile. If so it would seem like Iran is firing at anything they think they can hit, interesting to see what becomes of it as I cannot imagine the Iranian regime to be very sympathetic given their situation. Sad that it would appear 3 crew members have been killed in the explosion.
  2. You refused to pay 70 baht, are you serious?
  3. Yes hinder profits would certainly be one factor but culturally shortcuts are the regional norm!!
  4. Yes I believe that is correct, typical chinese tactics! The "China Railway" & "China Engineering" companies have questionalable track records for build quality & safety proceeders so suggesting its an Italian partnership is a convenient distraction!!
  5. We'll as it so happens Mr Anutins family owns a large construction company called Sino Thai, ask no more!!
  6. Interesting reading all the comments here, but the real problem is that compromise is first hand nature in most SE asian countries. Just watch a so called tradesman work, short cuts are firmly lodged in his brain! Lack of proper training & poor education is where the problems start, then like this crane incident is there a "crane safe" institute in Thailand?? I bet not and as sadly shown here this is the outcome! I managed a crane company in Papua New Guinea where cranes & staff were certified which meant proper training with annual certifications of machinery & equipment & biannual refresher courses for staff & operators. My choice and not PNG law unfortunately which allowed the chinese companies to operate cranes in PNG and just like Thailand, no proper training and no certifications of both personal & equipment which resulted in the same! Its a cultural thing that needs to change and sadly Anutins reaction is probably one of appeasement and not to mention who's family owns Sino Thai !!
  7. Thailand accounts for less than 1% of the global population, around 80% of the global population are either fluent in English or speak English as their 2nd language. Of the remaining 20% which includes Thailand some speak a little English so why would the Thai government not make English in schools compulsory given not only the global trend but Thailand is hugely reliant on tourism!!
  8. The tourist is correct given the dependancy Thailand has on tourism, but I guess the Thai elites are happy to keep the less educated the way they are and that means there will be more space at the trough!! Its a disgrace but then its not exactly a very moral world is it!!!
  9. Is this guy for real or is this April fools day come early??
  10. And of course Tibet is part of China as well but not by choice or historically!!
  11. Oh so you dont read history and of course Taiwan is part of mainland china!!
  12. This is where the Thai authorities are doing the people an injustice, like it or not English is by far the most spoken language and Thailand is a tourist dependant nation! In Europe & Scandinavia as well as many other countries english is taught at a very young age where leaders recognise the advantage to both the nation and the individuals!! Maybe the hi'sos are happy to keep the majority at their current level of communication, I guess it means there is more room at the trough!
  13. Maybe you are not aware but Thailands depends heavily on tourism of which 95% of tourists speak English!!
  14. I was of the opinion that serving intoxicated customers was already a breach of your alcohol licence! So nothing really changed and nothing will be enforced, just spoken about often!!!
  15. Very sad for the few legitimate refugees but look at the entire developed world and what an upheaval these migrants have caused and are causing! Thats the only sensible solution given the situation and anyone that cry this as racist or whatever you are kidding yourself, uncontrolled migration will be the downfall of the planet!
  16. When is the rest of the world going to stand up and call this thieving murdering piece of lying dog sh--t for what he is, just a scum bag of the tallest order. Until the respective resistance armies unite they will not succeed in toppling this illegal excuse for a government. China is supporting it so it can builds it deep sea ports, run its transport routes and rape Myanmar of its vast rare earth minerals, precious gems and whatever else they can get their greedy hands on.
  17. I can think of others that deserve prison more than Thaksin but thats another story, he got on the wrong side of the ruling elite and has to pay the price. Nice to see the family supporting their Dad!!
  18. Maybe but for sure there will be interference, they just can't help themselves!
  19. Its the same old story, we foreigners are aliens and constantly reminded despite most of us here being honest and in many cases hard working people contributing to the Thai economy, paying taxes and supporting local industry unlike many Thai nationals.
  20. That maybe great news for cracking down on people involved in illegal activities etc but unless the Biometric system is shared globally how will that make a difference, at point of entry immigration get to view your passport and can see how many times you have visited and the durations you have stayed!
  21. Yes quite true but one thing, Kiwi food is fresh & mostly healthy!
  22. No sensible rational government would be flip flopping with these types of commercial decisions when Thailands economy is so tourist dependent and currently in a recession. The current law as it was in June 2025 passed by the Thaksin government was the 2 - 5pm was scrapped in tourist areas for alcohol licensed businesses and Buhdist holidays bar 1 were permitted to sell alcohol. The new government considers various options of change and then flip flops to reinstate alcohol laws passed in 1972 and insists fines of up to 10,000 baht for offenders being both sellers & consumers. You have to ask yourself what planet this government is from! If you throw the country into turmoil over alcohol laws that takes the spot light away from the pending law changes for Cannabis use!
