  1. Yeah, innocent guys that don't beat up girls always use the defense that the police will standup for him. Being biligerant and breaking up his own propety also helps his cause of non violence. Read what comment the guy wrote, not just the part about hearing other info. No male with any moral fiber beats a 20 year old girl, even if confront by her, they walk away. You stick with your moral compass and I'll stay with mine.
  2. The a hole that was blind drunk and beat the girl using the "I'm connected and protected, don't you know who I am" excuse
  3. No I'm reply to someone blaming an obvious victim of brutality. If you're too blind to see that then your moral Compass may need adjusted
  4. No need to get so annoyed is there? The info has been fairly accurate about the differences at the airports
  5. Write down questions and concerns and have the discussion. I would never sign a contract without a lawyer of my own to review it. It's just the initial discussion and nothing should be finalized from that meeting or you stand to lose all future control over her career and artistic production and ownership
  6. That's a completely different situation in the US and a is driver's license and is a worthless comparison. Re_read the article and you'll see there was plenty of illicit activity going on and every reason for ID verifications.
  7. I doubt you have the nuts for that. Pulling out the phone and filming yeah maybe but getting confrontational with the police I would put money that would never happen
  8. We're talking about Thailand dude, not a first world country with a first work economy. They couldn't even buy metal detectors that worked. So for average Joe blow policeman to have a portable fingerprint scanners is certainly a stretch. Immigration already uses biometrics and it's link to.... Wait for it... Your passport! So for foreigners out in sketchy event and carrying no full verifiable ID and be taken to the station over it that's exactly what should be happening. Police doing their job; or a reasonible facimile. When they do the job foreigners bitch, when they dont do their job foreigners bitch.
  9. I never said you have to carry your passport.at all times, even though it's advised. I said you have to produce proper ID on request in these situations. If you have a shady photo copy of your ID page and are stopped as a random check that's one thing. But if your caught up in a shady illicit situation like the article and are halled to the police station because you have no valid ID you'll need to prove who you are and you better be able to produce one if your a foreigner
  10. I'm from the US and also been in thailand since early 80's and you're required to provide ID on request in similar situations. Is there Brown envelops here, absolutely but not at every situation that occurs and especially ones like the article. Can it happen yeah, but not at every event or situation claimed. It's been my experience it's more of farang perpetuating the same stories whenever possible As a foreigners you are also required to provided proper identification in most instances. Very few countries have or carry portable fi gerprint equip. You may watch too much NCIS tv. People caught in illegal activities are absolutely subject to I'd verification and if you think otherwise you may want to reconsider your position.
  11. Where did it say they extorted money? Your required to provide proof of identity in every country I've traveled in as a foreigner on request , and that's.been a lot of countries. Based on the quality of reporting you have no idea of what people may have been trying to hide since it was a raid and a bit of lilicit activity was going on.
  12. They may not be the morons in this case. You're visiting another country and need to follow their laws/rules, even when it might conflict with your idea of what a vacation should be. People bitch when the authorities do nothing, don't inspect and let night life become a free for all, often with some serious injuries involved. But when they do the inspections and check people complain of over abuse of power. Pick a side but try to remember your a visitor here
  13. Don't forget you have to pay for the monks to attend and do their blessings
  14. Just go to a hotel for the 1 night and when you check in ask for a screen shot of the tm 30. They will give it to you and register with imm. Then you have it for your monday visit to Imm. And that problem is solved. Then you can deal with airbnb or condo or hotel of your choice
  15. Great question that you have to ask yourself why you can't seem to grasp the terminology. I think you just want to argue for attention.
  16. you're correct, so you should not come to thailand because you can not seem to grasp logical explanations. Sorry I can not read 5 pages of this nonsense you have a stamp in your passport based of the visa type you applied for when you came to Thailand. Tourist visa, visa exempt ext..... each type of visa grants you a specific amount of time you can stay in the country before you either have to leave or get an extension of time. Either of those time frames is called "permission to stay" and printed on the stamp in your passport and is based on the type of visa originally stamped in your passport. When you use the TM86 or TM87 you are requesting immigration to grant you the option to receive "permission to stay" under whenever new visa type you are wanting to change to and be given the "permission to stay' that the new visa type allows.
  17. Yeh it's not a super busy office. I think they processed 34 people yesterday
  18. Did an extension of stay yesterday at Immigration in Nakhon Si Thammarat. In and out in 15 minutes and that included doc review, general discussion and stamping. All the girls there were great, very helpful and pleasant. The one thing I found odd was that the TM7 form I preprinted was about 1/4 inch shorter than the forms at the desk. They said they couldnt use mine but they transferred all the info to their form for me and I just had to sign it. No queuing or appointments required
  19. They give a "projected" income until you actually apply and start to receive your benefit. That letter outlines the monthly payment projection. Once you start to receive benifits you'll get a letter that details the actual payments but it will not be accepted as proof of income.
  20. All I can tell you is I walked passed atm's being used as well as money exchange booths. The atm dispense in baht. Shops are also open before immigration as they have re-worked the hallway on the way to immigration and have now separate areas for voa versus reqular category visa immigration.
