OK, the main topic is the ridiculous insurance requirement but I was of the understanding that inward and outward passengers paid a hidden tax on their ticket which was supposed to cover insurance whilst in country. Am I to assume that tax is being funnelled into consolidated revenue?

Meanwhile in the land of common sense and reason the government in an effort to find more money is reducing the work week of public servants by one day with a reduction of one days salary or wage until the crisis passes. Politicans remuneration will be reduced to one days salary/week because that's about the true worth of their output.

This is a test. A dip your toe in the water to see what sort of outcome they get. Let's face it they don't seem to have a clue about solving the problem. If this works out in a few months they will double the number of visa's. ????

The OP should have gone to a major Post Office.
I assume it is the main PO in Muang PhiChit...but I can't be sure. Ended up sending by Whatsap to my son in Oz, he printed it out, put it in an envelope and posted it. Will check with Human Services tomorrow to make sure they got it. My loss in monetary terms is tiny, less than a cup of coffee but someone else made the mistake, someone who works on the counter at the PO and should know better!

Why would they even do a DHL package?!
Thailand post is basically EMS, they don't work with DHL usually?
Lord Buddha may know, I sure don't!

Not a humungus amount but............... It is still a ripoff. Needed to send a letter to Oz. Go to PhiChit PO and ask: Can you send a letter to Australia. Answer: No, but we can get DHL to do it. So I pay the money. A few days later I get a phonecall from the PO, no can do! So come back and get letter. But I didn't get a refund! After 15 days I GEt the refund and it's short. Apparently I have to pay even if the guy at the PO makes a mistake! Well I feel it's a blatant ripoff. But who do I complain to?

Well, in one pix on the internet, of he and she, I thought I saw 2 Adams apples...which would mean the daughters are adopted.
Nah, couldn't be true. Someone said she was a moslem before they were married which would be a big No No!

A smart move would be to slim down the number of public employees. They could start with the police. I am pretty sure a reduction in total numbers by 25% would not see any appreciable difference in what the police actually do. That would save many billions.

Many of the pregnant teens around here are very pretty...even with a baby bulge. And you see the boyfriend's and they are usually the deadbeat bum types. But the deadbeat bums must be quite slick with the chit chat all the same.

Well rightly or wrongly Prayut and the pirate gang are as popular as kei khwai with just about everyone around here. Even more so as they are allowing the Chattree Mining mob to appropriate land South East of our village. 500.000rai including existing orchards...including our #2 orchard. Water quality, air quality, destruction of farmland are issues. The prevailing wind is South East to North West at less 70% of the time. So a huge quantity of dust will be present in the air. Khow Kheaw is the water shed for our village...that will be destroyed. As for farmland, there is no more around here so where does that leave hundreds of families? Up that well known creek without a paddle!

But so many of yiu always say there is a big foreign trade surplus. Well???
I call BS. And they wanted more submarines. What a country full of DF's
Look it up! This morning early the amount was US$237.2 billion. Gold, cash and various bonds in the main. Convert to baht in an hour or so. Two billion, less than 1% could put food on the table for millions of underprivileged Thai's for the next 2 years. Those Rsoles in Bangkok need a good kicking. ????

In the current climate I have some sympathy for the kitchen hands, housemaids, food sellers and the like...Pattaya moto taxi riders, taxi drivers not to much. Having been ripped off enough times tends to make me jaded hence a lack of sympathy.

Well the ones coming up through the ranks (wealthy parent is a plus) will need lessons in how to be a blow hard should they ever get to be the next Richard Potato!

Clutching at straws comes to mind! What is really needed is a large butchers knife to cut all the fat out of the organisation.
Tinkering around the edges will not help.

What's the margin between strongly disagree and disagree...or for that matter strongly agree or agree?
I would have thought there is agree, disagree and no comment.

I am of the belief that if Thai's go to other countries for well paid jobs then they have the money to pay for testing prior to boarding and quarantine on return. The government didn't force them to work O/S.

Pretty obvious when government revenue has taken a dive there would be adjustments needed to spending. Time for the government to cash in some of the trade surplus US$ billions it holds and maintain a positive attitude towards its obligations.

I'm.sure 'state officials ' won't go short' There huge queues for what are basically Gov jobs with all the security and shall we say ..perks that go with the job !
There is a price for being granted a government job. Being qualified up the kazoo isn't enough. Having the right connections helps immensely.
And maybe it's time to draw down a few billion US$'s from that foreign trade surplus....cos they know they are going to have to sooner or later.
