I prefer the bars. Talking and having fun and then go home (perhaps having dinner before), talking there a bit and having some drinks.
I don´t like the finding at the internet - she knocks at the door - boom boom - bye bye.
Sure thing. I would agree with you.
It's just that ... times they are a changin ... whether we like it or not ????
Of course it's not that grim ... there is still plenty if you like to go out and drink, meet and have some fun at bars.
But on a decline, at least if you want to meet some more of the hotties ????

Sure, if you are under 50 years old and look sharp and spend several thousand baht on a girl, you can score a pretty girl every night at Insomnia
What about us oldtimers who are broke and in bed by midnight? We need pretty girls too 5555
No problem, as said before, go online ... plenty for this, too ????

I bet that in a very few years, traditional beer bars will be only found in a very few locations, mainly on Soi Buakhao, far from the main tourists area.
Yes, that's what I believe as well. That's what it looks like and the shift I was posting about before.
Not that I know it ... it's just my opinion of course.

Rompho has it's own problems. The landowners want to redevelop it and have been encouraging bars to move out for 2 or 3 years now.
Yes, something like this might also be a factor. True. Who knows.

Not. doesn't get going until midnight and isn't in full swing until 2am. Also, often more guys than girls in there.
It only opens at 11pm ... of course it gets going after midnight.
It's a Nightclub
More guys than girls? Oh no ???? Please Danny. The place is packed with chicks, all the time.
And honestly, really nice ones. Expensive place though ... but never empty or boring.

I'm not sure you got what I wanted to say.
It is exactly that it "wasn't" as deserted area a few years back.
The place was full of bars, a lot of people and very good fun.
It started to get an deserted areas from the back to front, starting 3 years ago, and very rapidly now.
And now almost deserted.
Exactly what the topic suggested.

True that.
You can go to Insomnia on Walking any day of the week, any week of the year ...it's always full and packed with the most pretty girls.
That's where the girls are ... not the shabby ones, sitting on their fat bums behind their phones in those empty, boring bars.
Really, these days of connect 4 or whatever ... yeah, this business model is sinking.
btw ... Insomnia has the best business model there is.
All the Thai girls get their beers for 90 Baht with their club card, when they are alone.
The moment they got a guy next to them, paying for the drinks, they charge 190Baht or something, ridicules high.
You can say, all the freelancers are working nicely for that club.
It's full, all the time!

Rompho and Action st are <deleted> locations and have been dying since opening. Why would anyone go to those bar complexes? You couldn't have picked 2 worst examples. Rompho must have a 50 bars, who the hell thought that would succeed in sleepy jomtien !! and action st looks like a car park
... Rompho was a great time to be had for many years ... it's just a bar complex as all the others, exactly the same as Pattaya bar complexes ... a bar, a pool table, some chicks, some music and drinks.
Why bad examples, what are we talking about here then? ????
They are all looking exactly the same thing, wherever you go.
What's the difference?
They are mostly empty these days and have ugly girls in there hanging behind a mobile phone

I would like to see an admission from all the posters on this thread as to where they are right now..any takers? Easy to be sitting in some dump of a town in the sticks and pretend your adding value to this topic
I could care less about Pattaya as I live in Bangkok so dont have a dog in this fight but Im just reporting what I see. All the baht buses are full and beach rd jammed up with tourists, same with walking st and soi Buhakao
The recent fire at the Holiday inn reported 400 bookings ..doesn't sound dead to me
It's imminent and very obvious that bars are slowly but steadily are closing ... it's a declining business.
That also duo to the fact the girls are smarting up these days ... they also don't want to sit there all night long.
They go online and catch a lot whatever they want, to their own terms. It's a shift in business.
Looks what's left in sitting in the bars? Overall? Compared to a few years back?
Similar to a Kodak, Video rental shops etc. Time moves on.
Today we Netflix and download the girls online ????
Of course there always have been closing and openings, non stop. But not in this shift.
Go to Rompho market in Jomtien ... for the past 3+ years, you can week after week witness and count the bars closing from back to front.
Soi Buhakoa ... did you check 'Action Street' lately?
Complete areas are shut down slowly.
There are a lot, no need to go into details. Look at the bigger picture.
Compare a few years back to today.

Who wants to be a bar slave, if you don't have to anymore these days. I don't blame them, kudos.

You don't see them in them, you see them outside them. Soi 6 is a classic. Group of 4 wandering down the street stop at every bar and hassle all the girls sitting at the handrail for half an hour. A menace.

The vileness of the music in most Pattaya bars combined with the non stop footie is just awful. No wonder people party at home! Every bar in Pattaya seems to want to be a sports bar combined with nightclub playing the worst MTV and VHM dance chart hits. Pattaya must have the worst music of any city in the world. I do not want to hear torture chamber Techno and banging house where a foul mouthed MC screams:' Get your f*****g hand up b***h b***h b***h! Face down A*** up cos thats the way were gonna <deleted>! This rape music, hip hop, rap balkan beat, UDM, EDM and the curse of Electro pop reduces virtually every single bar to a cacophony of conformism. Just brainless. Mindless. Unoriginal. Low intelligence. It panders to the lowest common denominator of taste and intelligence. I think the multi beer bar courts have had their day too. The model does not work anymore.
Some truth in that also ...

Question should be: Have you been to Pattaya 10 years ago compared to today ... then you see, everyone can see.

I don't understand ... 5 years of 'Family Resort' messaging & efforts and now bar's and nightlife not up?
Why? Isn't this inline with the message/plan? This should be positive to all and a mission accomplished
The only thing still missing is the demolishing of the right side of Walking Street, as there were talks about just 3 years back.

You are not the only one who can misread the date stamp. Many moons ago I use to be on a 35x35 days rotation, so I regularly overstayed with a couple of days. Back then it was all smiles, pay your fine and off you go, but one time the immigration officer simply stamped me out, although I clearly had 5 days overstay.
Exactly. They stamped you out and cashed in the Baht. And that's the difference.
Overstayers never did much harm, not today and not back then.
Today you get 10 officers knocking your hotel room door after 5 days.
This has nothing to do with anyone giving Farangs a bad name, not to other Farangs and not to immi's themselves, as some claim on here.
It's just the outcome of something of the past 5 years.

It still was big in the news this morning, long going, for more than 5 min! Inclusively interviewing a series of people ... really wondered why spend so much time on it.
Reminds me, never do this, too much publicity ????

Please concentrate little bit know. You must be able to remember what you are posting by yourself. You posted:
I just posting a note for you to behave after your own opinion. Basically it is you that have benn telling yourself to not be a part, by posting "not for other farangs to be involved with". Ok, here I go assuming that you are a foreigner. Maybe you are not. ????????????
I would be nice of you to stop letting the meaning of your post and your behaviour contradict eachother.Jeez, you really are twisted and twisting around.
When I say "... not for other Farangs to be involved with (the reporting of others). That's my opinion on this topic (calling the hotline) to not be involved in reporting others.
While you say " ... then disengage from the discussion!" ... suggesting to not post and engage in this discussion with this opinion
I would like to know what kind of stuff you take before you post, and it's not even 10am ;-))

Could very well be.
I have nothing against deporting ... that's just the job of the immi's if someone is violating the rules.
It's the reporting thing among each other which gives it all a very bad taste.

Then you are totally free to disengage yourself from this dicussion, which would be in line with your own opinion.
Oh, ok then ... so what you are saying is only people who are willing to report other farangs for overstay can be engaged in this discussion.
Sorry then ... I misunderstood. The wrong place for me to be inline with my own opinion.

Western countries also deport overstaying Thais
Yes, but highly doubt other Thai's in that country will report them as criminals/overstayers. Unless they might have some personal issues between them.

Completely wrong.
What have immi's been doing with overstayers for years? Just fine them and collect the cash at the airport.
No bad reputation, for no one .... maybe you should wake up? ????
Overstayers don't give anyone a bad rep, not to other foreigners and not to the immi's.
You make this up.
Criminals, Robbers, Murders, Drunks fighting or misbehaving, they do. But not overstayers.
You know what I mean when I say "... only on here we hear about it". Yes, it's good as a warning to overstayers, but that's it.
The 'calling a number to report them', the hunt and the hard judgement you have on this ... that's what I consider not healthy at all.
If someone is stupid enough to overstay, or does it for reasons out of desperation we don't know any details about ... it's just an immi matter between them ... not for other Farangs to be involved with.

Agreed........its the STASI ......but I can sleep safe knowing that crime here is under control
The funny thing is ... it's no where to read about in the Thai news ... only on here.
And then people are getting stirred up on here and starting to discuss something which is none of their business.
No overstayers with a few days is giving any other Farang a bad name ... that's complete nonsense.
The one who deserve to be caught, will get caught .. it's an immi issue.
But not this, like you say, Stasi like methods ... what a crazy thing to read about week in / week out, only on this forum.
But nowhere else. And I watch Thai News everyday.
Why discuss this if you got your own papers in order, in such 'stasi like' witch hunt style among Farangs?
I can't believe it ... it's a sad state of affairs really.
And for the Farangs who fall for this nonsense, sorry really, no words left to say about this.

I tell you one thing Mazzo. You are not the only one living here for a few years.
If I log off of TVF for a few days ... and I only watch Thai news on Tellie every night, which I do, I hear nothing, zero zilch about any overstayers.
No overstayer is giving any other Farang any bad name, as you always imply. No one gives a damn. No one.
Not your Thai neighbors around you, not the ones around me, no Thai I talk to ever mentions it.
It's an Immi job ... and let them do it.
It doesn't impact your personal live one single iota ...
You got trapped into something in your mind you can't let go off ... oh wow, another overstayer caught, even if only a few days ... my god, life is so much safer now. They can't give you a bad name now? What a useless argument when no one really cares or talks about it, outside of TVF.
In reality, no one in real life around you knows nor cares about it. It's all in your frozen mindset.
No Thai I talk to ever mentions an overstayers for a few or more days. Never.
Please, get real, come down from that crazy idea in your mind. Let immi do their job if it's really necessary, i.e. a guy/girl/person really is a criminal undercover and on overstay. Then yes, catch them.
Don't support and applaud something you only read on TVF news ... it's not in the Thai news or anywhere.
Only on here.
You want to play along with a shallow news brainwash game? I don't.
