  1. Yes, I think that is obvious.
  2. "Can't wait till he hopefully audits the Pentagon. They've admitted losing trillions in the past. Would be nice to know just how much is unaccounted for." That is the important one simply because it is by far the biggest portion of the discretionary budget. The discretionary budget does not include expenditures that are required by law and these can be changed.
  3. Right, it only restricts "off premises" sale. Sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption elsewhere.
  4. When you skip the "huge corporate behemoths" are you "stickin' it to the man" or "lettin' your freak flag fly"? As Patrick Henry said: "Give me a small locally owned ethically sourced coffee shop or give me death!" they have so many benefits. Even still I'm gonna buy coffee I like when and where it's convenient for me. Sometimes that will be Starbuck's.
  5. "Latte Lorne" or the Bonanza Latte named after Lorne Green.
  6. I guess that is a functional description of a kettle. What was that thing called again?
  7. Never had a problem at Starbuck's. But the price is probably the highest of any coffee, even still... reliable product and for the frequency I buy coffee there I can afford it.
  8. And being a loser is revealed by a state of open mouth.
  9. Phony, people from Tupelo don't spell color like that.
  10. Obviously not. I have Nike and Adidas hats, they have no political message. MAGA hats have a message relative to US politics that doesn't seem to be relevant IRL in Thailand. Relevant in AN but not IRL. Thread title you chose "do you wear with pride" reveals you are not wearing it for same reason as a Nike or Adidas hat.
  11. I have never seen a MAGA hat in Bangkok. Not sure why people wear them.
  12. But my question is simply this: What was the purpose of the October attacks? What were they intended to accomplish?
  13. "There wouldn't be any rubble without Israel and the USA." I think most of the rubble has been created since the October 7 attacks. What did you expect Israel to do? Send a sternly worded letter? What did Hamas expect to accomplish by the October 7 attacks and atrocities? That isn't meant to be a rhetorical question, what in the world did they expect to accomplish? What possible purpose did those attacks serve? Gaza reaped the whirlwind after the October 7 attacks.
  14. It's easy to shoot down controversial ideas but when everything else has failed is this a possibility? I am not a Trump supporter in general but I wonder if this idea could be a good one.
  15. Drinking and driving is apparently a major cause of Thai traffic accidents. But I don't think this is generally perceived by the Thai public. My impression is that the Thai perception of alcohol consumption is positive and doesn't differentiate between harmless moderate drinking and heavy drinking and alcohol dependence. I remember in my youth in the US Midwest that alcohol-related fatal traffic accidents were often viewed with a "sad but waddya gonna do?" attitude. At most the perception was that someone drank too much on the one occasion and no real perception that a pattern of drinking and driving inevitably led to crashes. I think that perception has changed drastically and alcohol abuse is generally recognized as a problem now. I am not exactly clear on how Thais view drinking but it doesn't seem like they see a problem. This presents a major obstacle to any kind of change.
  16. The question no one wants to address: Is the sky falling?
  17. "I just read you are not an American. Neither am I, but wow, you've got to get a grip on yourself. You spend all day every day talking about a foreign country's governance? Mental stuff. " Self-unawareness?
  18. It doesn't seem shameful. His description in the euphemisms of eulogies describes him as a party animal. Is coming to Thailand to party and spend time with bargirls shameful? Not to most people it's not, it's par for the course for a 33 year old unmarried man.
  19. Why? Are you thinking he died from on overdose of communion wine after attending Sunday services? People only suggested he was out seeking wine, women and song; doesn't seem bigoted to me. RIP and Sad of course but I don't think anyone's speculation when he was missing was out of line.
  20. How many rounds I wonder? 1? 2? 100? Seems like it would make a difference.
  21. I think you are suffering from an irony deficiency. Ask your doctor, maybe he can recommend a dietary supplement.
  22. The obvious target in the discretionary budget is defense. But none of these heroes seem to want deal with that. "In 2023, the US military spent approximately $820.3 billion" https://usafacts.org/articles/how-much-does-the-us-spend-on-the-military/ "Federal spending for international affairs, ... agencies such as the State Department, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)...In fiscal year 2023, the government spent ...$84 billion" on these programs. https://www.pgpf.org/article/how-much-does-the-government-spend-on-international-affairs/ If you want to rein in your household spending do you look at minor expenditures, for example expenses for salt and pepper for the kitchen, or do you look at typically greater costs such as your electric bill? If they were really trying to rein in Federal spending they would be looking at defense, often referred to as the "bloated defense budget". "Who Benefits Most From a Bloated Pentagon Budget? The Weapons Industry." https://www.thenation.com/article/world/weapons-industry-national-defense-strategy/ The military budget isn't keeping the US safe as much as keeping weapons manufacturers rich. If you have a tear in you eye for soldiers, sailors and airmen be aware the money is going to Lockheed Martin, RTX, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and General Dynamics.
  23. Google "violence against trans people" and you will see numerous articles "lying about it". But as the saying goes, haters gonna hate.
