Irony and sarcasm are figures of speech that are apparently used in all languages although obviously not universally understood.

She did say that, untrue as stated, and I am guessing she meant to say it that way to make it look like the pandemic was Trump's responsibility when everyone knows Bill Gates started it.

This is exactly the strategy Trump employs, the Gish Gallop. 'The “Gish Gallop” is a well-established method of outmaneuvering rhetorical opponents with an overwhelming onslaught of dubious arguments. Also known in debate circles as “spreading,” ' https://qz.com/905252/donald-trumps-lies-are-all-part-of-a-debate-tactic-called-the-gish-gallop " It was Trump using a technique that actually has a formal name, the Gish gallop, although I suspect he comes by it naturally. It's a rhetorical technique in which someone throws out a fast string of lies, non-sequiturs, and specious arguments, so many that it is impossible to fact-check or rebut them in the amount of time it took to say them." https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/06/30/to-gish-the-act-of-talking-drivel-with-the-intention-of-closing-down-debate/

I think more importantly her opinion is important to millions of what you call "lemmings" but the candidates call "voters". Her endorsement was a result of Trump posting fake endorsements by her, so he shot himself in the foot if her followers do turn out and vote for Harris. So the importance isn't that it changes my thinking but that of some fraction of her followers. Remembering that this election is gonna be "a knife fight in a phone booth" as far as being close.

Yes, you are right. Mostly I am just trying to keep my expectations in line with reality so I am not devastated if Trump wins.

The real important question is what did swing state voters (especially undecided voters) think of the debate. As several media figures have pointed out John Kerry and Hilary Clinton were judged to have won presidential debates but neither became president. And the debate lines that seem to have mattered in past elections were "Where's the beef?" and "There you go again", not anything substantive. I think Harris won but so what.

As opposed to an old man who worships an action movie star from cop and cowboy movies ?

Stevenl is right to question the statement. "There is no record of Swift saying publicly that she would leave in the event that Trump won." https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-did-taylor-swift-miley-cyrus-say-theyd-leave-us-if-trump-wins-1867871 Just another case of "Well I seen it on the interwebs".

"she's just another singer songwriter" Not really. She is a billionaire from her singing and songwriting, she is a long way from open mike night at the coffeehouse. She has 283 billion followers, in case you are wondering that's .... a lot of followers. As far as taking notice, you have taken notice of her number of boyfriends, why do you know about that?... Because she is phenomenally famous. She articulated her reasons and her choice and the fact that Trump posting a phony endorsement lead to her making an announcement. She urged people to make their own decision. Her statement was very reasonable. This election has been described as "a knife fight in a phone booth", how many voters will make the difference? Who knows how many votes her endorsement might mean?

Childish. Of course it's important. If she came out for Trump (as he falsely posted) Trumpsters would be gaga for it.

Just watched a clip of the Obama-Romney debate where realtime fact checking was done and Romney stepped in it, so it isn;'t the first time. It's a Trump strategy, let loose a poop storm of lies, impossible for opponent to counter them all. That Democrats approve of infants being killed after birth. That immigrants (Haitian by the way) are eating pets in Ohio. That the Central Park Five pleaded guilty. (Common Trump theme?). First 2 preposterous and false, third easily refutable as it is a matter of public record. But if let stand you would see them repeated on this thread tomorrow. (Might see them repeated anyway....).

I remember the two fact checks on Trump: That Democrats approve of infants being killed after birth. That immigrants (Haitian by the way) are eating pets in Ohio. Both so freaking ridiculous only a crazy person (with crazy supporters) would try and say.

" 2019 was the lowest reading on the poverty index" From that you conclude that ""Trump wants to help the poor"? What do you conclude about Trump and pandemic respiratory diseases? Apparently he promotes those as well since they were so popular during his presidency; same logic. Parse this one for me: Socrates is a man. All men are mortal. Socrates is mortal. Therefore all men are Socrates. Makes as much sense as your conclusion. Maybe this would help.

"There was no Insurrection." Thanks to herfiehandbag for the photo of the January 6 insurrection, Also, I have seen numerous videos of the same event. There have been trials and guilty verdicts related to the January 6 insurrection. You should consider using the Marxist quote (G. Marx) : "Who you gonna believe? Me or your own eyes?"

"The timing of the subpoenas, which marked the first public outreach to Gov. Walz by Republicans, has drawn criticism" Duh. -

Forget this, let's look into something important like Scoutgate. Does Walz even have a dog? What is the deal in the video where he is seen playing with two different dogs? This needs to be cleared up. Maybe a special prosecutor needs to be appointed. -

Sez who? NO one has said they support any of the paranoia fears you express. -

Be afraid, be very afraid. There could be "radical transgender and homosexual" individuals under the bed. Can it be inferred that you are ok with moderate Transgender people? -
Always the case that the creepy pervs have suspicions simply because they are creepy pervs. Never a peep about this with respect to Walt so clearly it's all you.

Compounding occurs over time, you don't specify any intervals for your numbers. Changes of any kind require a start and end time, you provide none. Just "Trump" and "Biden". Silly. Just a glimpse at the complexity of one of the numbers you quote. But as you say, it looks easy to you.
