  1. The obvious target in the discretionary budget is defense. But none of these heroes seem to want deal with that. "In 2023, the US military spent approximately $820.3 billion" https://usafacts.org/articles/how-much-does-the-us-spend-on-the-military/ "Federal spending for international affairs, ... agencies such as the State Department, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)...In fiscal year 2023, the government spent ...$84 billion" on these programs. https://www.pgpf.org/article/how-much-does-the-government-spend-on-international-affairs/ If you want to rein in your household spending do you look at minor expenditures, for example expenses for salt and pepper for the kitchen, or do you look at typically greater costs such as your electric bill? If they were really trying to rein in Federal spending they would be looking at defense, often referred to as the "bloated defense budget". "Who Benefits Most From a Bloated Pentagon Budget? The Weapons Industry." https://www.thenation.com/article/world/weapons-industry-national-defense-strategy/ The military budget isn't keeping the US safe as much as keeping weapons manufacturers rich. If you have a tear in you eye for soldiers, sailors and airmen be aware the money is going to Lockheed Martin, RTX, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and General Dynamics.
  2. Google "violence against trans people" and you will see numerous articles "lying about it". But as the saying goes, haters gonna hate.
  3. "The old lie of trans getting abusive treatment" Are you not aware of violence against trans people?
  4. I would be interested to hear about what nations have improved their road safety and how they have done it. That would be more interesting than a series of scoldings. "Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia and Portugal have reduced road deaths the most since 2010" https://etsc.eu/this-list-of-countries-making-the-most-progress-on-road-safety-in-europe-might-surprise-you/ From the google AI summary: (given in response to the search query) Road and vehicle design and enforcement of speeding and drunk driving laws have been the causes for improvements.
  5. Right, what does the following mean, I don't understand it. " he accidentally walked into a neighbour’s entrance sign."
  6. "thais do not have the same driving sense, while some of what you say is correct trying to take the blame away from the poor driving skills/mentallity of thais is a white wash as is calling anyone pointing out how bad they are as being racist." IMHO this is true. Since living in Thailand I have not been a driver but always a passenger in taxis. The idea of defensive driving seems to be foreign to Thai drivers. I was taught the priority of driving goals: Don't injure or kill anyone. Don't destroy or damage property, including other vehicles. Choose the safest, not the fastest route. Get to your destination after observing the previous priorities. My observation would indicate that the Thai drivers follow one goal Get to your destination as fast as you can. Bangkok traffic seems like a million vehicle game of chicken.
  7. Whereas men handle it effortlessly and without incident.
  8. Well you are missing an opportunity there.
  9. Another pathetic attempt to seem intellectual or HISO by GG. Seems like his thread starting is getting more frequent. As I have said before, he would be an object of pity were he not so thoroughly unlikeable.
  10. I'm sorry but I think the police need to question those dogs. "Your honor I found this bag with 400 meth pills". Wasn't there a Cheech and Chong bit like this? Do the cops just assume the dogs are innocent of involvement in drug trafficking? Or are the dogs slipping the brown envelopes to the cops? Lots of unanswered questions.
  11. My only comment is that it is so fitting that these trogs live in caves.
  12. Why would you disbelieve this? Do you think everyone goes about getting into altercations that lead to threats of violence? Or is it just something about this poster that you think he must have been in that situation? Even at school some people were able to get along with others.
  13. One of the greatest posts ever on this forum. "O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
  14. Why isn't there a "get off my lawn" emoji?
  15. The OP seems to be informed about road safety. Expert? I don't know. To me he demonstrates what I have heard called "the unshakeable certainty of the half-educated". If he has read one book about road safety I will wait for his opinion after he has read two books on road safety. He may have a lot of good points but being dismissive and patronizing doesn't convince many people.
  16. How many times have you found yourself saying "I didn't know you were a vegan" to a friend or acquaintance who is vegan? Never?
  17. Who is "we"? In spite of your unstoppable chatter on US political subjects if I remember correctly you are not an American. Certainly have strong opinions on things that don't really concern you, in my opinion. Feel free to go forth and multiply with yourself.
  18. Wasn't me Madone, I was quoting a sensitive man.
  19. Generally I am not a fan of direct action outside of th courts by law enforcement. In this case a cosh to the head is called for. How far to the nearest toilet and this "person" has to urinate against the wall.?
  20. "Where I live it is the Thais who drive their motorbikes in the wrong direction, on the pavement, without a helmet, while texting on their phones." And you are comparing this to urinating in the airport? Huh,
  21. I would cite the counter example of the expansion of the rail system. Extension of the BTS into Samut Prakan and at the north end to Khu Kot. The Pink, Yellow and Purple line construction as well. Compare the current extent of the rail system to what it was in the year 2000. I think the BTS Sukhimvit line went from Mo Chit to On Nut, not exactly sure but I think those were the north and south terminals at that time. I am not saying the entire project was done perfectly but you might compare to the development of a high speed rail project in the US state of California and conclude the Thailand has done pretty well. Cue the Thai bashers and the classic mention of brown envelopes, even still...
  22. Please let it be known what nationalities are acceptable to you. So far: Swiss, British, and American are unacceptable. I'd like to hear who passes muster.
  23. No, I don't remember that. Who are "all the lefties"? Are you talking about on this discussion group or IRL?
