British tourist left shocked after ‘Wild West’ amid rolling brawl among club hostesses and dancers
"Pattaya police are viewing the incident as a serious one since the government in Thailand is anxious to avoid any negative publicity" "girl fight tonight" is not negative publicity. You could sell tickets.

Verify correct change at stores
While the clerk is counting change I am often wool-gathering, "thinkin' about women and glasses of beer " as the man said. But i agree, if you don't catch it at the time you can't go back.

Japanese Tourist Pickpocketed in Pattaya
If you remember the post that I replied to was if you don't have a Thai bank account you have no choice but to carry cash. So you also disagree since you use your UK ATM card. Nice to find common ground, so many here just want to have the last word, and that is so petty.

Japanese Tourist Pickpocketed in Pattaya
AS has been posted many times here, Charles Schwab ATM cards refund all ATM fees monthly. I Have found the exchange rate to be competitive, it's the VISA rate. I don't know all nations but I know that US, UK and Australian banks ATM cards work. Don't care about Russians, sorry, not sorry.

Japanese Tourist Pickpocketed in Pattaya
"their role is mainly to entertain others. They can be stylists, make up artists, dancers in one of the cabarets" That sounds like the available roles in the west. You encounter them in all kinds of jobs in Thailand, not just in entertainment.

Illegal botox operation uncovered in Chumphon beauty clinic
I know botox treatments are pretty safe and millions have had them. Even still, when I worked in a hospital there was a patient who was poisoned by "Botulinum toxin one of the most poisonous biological substances known, is a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2856357/ This lady had nearly complete paralysis of all skeletal muscles, she could blink her eyes but not under conscious control, so she answered Y/N questions by moving her toes. I don't remember the progress of her disease but per the MDs the expectation was that she would eventually recover spontaneously. It was nothing to do with Botox, I believe it was contaminated food. But that was such a scary thing to see I would not be eager to try Botox.

You don't need a Thai bank account to use an ATM. Where do you think all that tourist money comes from? They don't bring it over in sacks, they go to one the many ATMs that are found almost everywhere.

220 volt NON USB speakers for desktop pc/laptop - help anyone?
My laptop built-in speakers recently became completely distorted. I was looking for speakers that would plug into the headphone jack which I have had in the past. My friend said just get Bluetooth speakers which I had no idea about. So I just bought a set of bluetooth speakers, they are plugged in across the room, independent of computer power supply. Inexpensive too. Is your computer bluetooth capable? I find "Windows 10 (Version 1903) supports Bluetooth version 5.0" with Google so maybe. If it is Blue tooth speakers are an easy fix. If not I don't know. No doubt some more knowledgeable types will weigh in. PS also found: "How do I turn on Bluetooth on my Dell Latitude Windows 10? Turn Bluetooth on or off in Windows Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Select the Bluetooth toggle to turn it On or Off." So maybe Bluetooth speakers will work for you.

When God created the universe, did he give planet Earth to Satan to play with?
Assuming you are in Thailand, does observing people whose beliefs are very different from yours raise any questions for you? Thailand is of course majority Buddhist with a significant Muslim population. Does that cause you t think at all about the universality of your religion? I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just curious. This forum seldom sees posts that reflect knowledge of the NT.

I think most bad behavior is down to selfishness, not evil.

Asking expats about LGBT people
In my experience a lot of LGBTQ-phobia is generalized. I mean like, people who speak ill of LGBTQ folks in the abstract but their LGBTQ acquaintances they are cool with.

What's your favorite insult?
I would call you an a$$hole, but that would be an insult to a$$holes. You exhibit the unshakeable certainty only present in the half-educated. I know that's two, couldn't choose.

Was you closer to your Mother than your Dad?
This is a place for information and also for diversion. You know harmless entertainment. Is the problem that you feel uncomfortable talking about your mother and father? What do you think Dr. Freud would say about that? Just to be crystal clear, I'm kidding, so don't get offended.

Managing forum toxicity and negativity
I once wrote either "SNAFU" or "FUBAR" and the mod at that time objected that the F in that stood for a verboten word. I didn't object but all dictionaries have these two acronyms and say that the FU stands for "fouled up". I remember thinking that someone's grandmother must have become a mod. Remember the kid in grammar school who volunteered to be hall monitor? Sometimes they never grow out of it I guess.

Managing forum toxicity and negativity
This is a good forum when you need information. There are a lot of well-informed people on here. Discussions I often find show me posters who only serve as a bad example. I mean that seriously, sometimes I remind my self I don't was to be like Mr. XYZ, I prefer to be positive when I can. I have half a dozen posters on ignore as I have found they have nothing useful or positive to say. I have 1600 posts over several years, I feel that if always asked myself "does this need to be said" (as I usually do now) I would have half as many. I have to admit I occasionally post just to return fire at someone who annoys me. I feel that it is safe to say if a person is topping 40 posts a day and they are not on house arrest, they need to get a life. Have I made any body mad? Probably, sometimes you can't avoid it.

Which country has the rudest people?
If drunks were a nationality they would of course be the worst, especially groups of young males who are drunk. I would say Chinese and Russians but in different ways. Just my limited experience and I have much more experience with Chinese than I do with Russians. Chinese are just clueless, as if dropped here from another planet. No sense of personal space and very loud. Slack jawed yokels, blocking public walkways and entrances to elevators etc. But no malice in my opinion. Russians seem hateful and are physically aggressive for no reason. Pushing their way onto a baht bus or in a store aisle. My friend tells me it's from years of elbowing their way to the front of the bread line.
