  1. They have been doing the bait, then not delivering, for decades now. OTOH, that is why many do not bother with E Bay, and haven't for a long time.
  2. Those are 2019 prices (7K) for a box with TV & mini fridge in a Guest House. That would also get you a clean once a week. Basic sweeping, trash out, change of bed linen. I have no idea what it is now post pandemic; general inflation vs a couple years few or no customers. That would be inside the old city, walking distance to LK, Thapae gate area, FYI.
  3. Air Canada is like Qantas, I like both, except when I have to fly them. Still if going via Vancouver, why not fly Cathay Pacific?! CP is expensive but less than half of the new AC direct flight. Hopefully with the pandemic restrictions all dropped they will keep improving the Amtrack Cascade local link. Makes Vancouver an easier option for northwest flyers.
  4. I have never bought cod from Makro, I did not know they had it. Rimping sells frozen cod. They also have a bin with frozen imported fish from either Alaska & Norway. Relatively pricey, but good. Pangasius dory is a farmed freshwater fish also known as Vietnamese Sawai. That is everywhere, might limit how much you eat due to chemicals & doctor it up when you do, but up2U. That green dripping sauce for fish and shellfish, works well.
  5. Bomb plot of 2012, an Iranian trio prematurely detonated bombs when raided by Thai police. The Thailand government let these terrorists go back to Iran in 2020, with assurances this would not happen again. However six months ago Iran stepped on their d--- again. Accused of plots to attacks westerners and western government offices in Thailand. Any incident would negatively effect tourism here, Thailand was very concerned.
  6. I don't pick up mail every day now, as all bills are online. However I did yesterday & there was my 2nd request letter from SS. I sent it regular mail from a Thai post office first week in September. Going to make copies of my form, then send another one, this afternoon. Garf! ????
  7. Is that what they are saying down in New Zealand today?! Rather surprising New Zealanders are not concerned with North Shore teens terror plot, but feverishly watching US midterm elections. You just never know what Kiwis are up to.
  8. Trump wasn't president when Putin invaded Ukraine. A fact Prince Vlad rues every day new HIMARS systems arrive in the Ukraine.
  9. A man who knows what he has to say and who to say it to. It does not matter if it sounds ridiculous or not. After all this is the man who took his 116 Pizza Hut restaurants and rebranded them overnight into The Pizza Company after a "dispute" with the parent company. Not easy and according to some, the real reason he eventually renounced US citizenship and became a citizen of Thailand.
  10. Exactly! Trump would have given Putin the Ukraine. Along with a dozen roses and kisses on Prince Vlads keister.
  11. Great news. I'll keep that in mind & keep looking. I wonder if it is the city that you are flying to?? I just did a Sept/Oct, RT. I flew EVA, which was back up and running, but looked at other airlines, Korean, Asiana JAL, specifically, when I bought my ticket (August22). At that time nothing with less than a 6 hour layover for the Korean carriers. One was an 8 hour too. This did not surprise me, as I have never been able to get a ticket with either Korean and Asiana, in over 10 years, that because of layover times. I once had to spend 7 hours in Narita J. and never again.
  12. Korean (and Asiana) are great airlines but I never seem to find a ticket with less than a 6 hour stopover in Korea. Given the time/distance between North America and Thailand is in itself daunting and stops lots of potential tourists cold. Have Delta and Korean air done something about there Korean layover times? Or are they still in the 6 to 12 hour range?
  13. FOX Sports Asia dropped baseball from their Thai schedule a couple years back. Last World Series I watched here; Dodgers vs Tampa Bay 2020. In Asia, Japan, Korea or Taiwan are countries that play baseball and would have it televised, not Thailand.
  14. As regards celebrations. The municipality has their Loy Khratong/Yi Peng information up now. Nothing on Christmas/New Years.
  15. Click in at the FOX News website to see how they are playing major news. No headlines that mention the right wing connection. One headline does state, "Suspect in Pelosi attack linked to radical nudist as background emerges." The FOX spin team is on the ball. If you do read their actual stories, they do mention right wing connections but no NO, headlines. FOX news audience needs to be protected from these unfortunate truths.
  16. Dukes just announced its dinner options for Thanksgiving 24/11/22, this week (US holiday). I doubt they, or anyone else, is going to announce Christmas or New Years events until at least mid November. BTW Duangtawan has a Christmas buffet if open. As it is open this year, I fully expect they will have it again. I attended the last one, Christmas eve 2020. Last year, 2021, Centara Riverside's (Holiday Inn) buffet, which was excellent.
  17. Exactly the same. Pleasantly surprised how fast books get on these sites, ones that have just been published. I still check on a torrent site as they will occasionally have newly published books that Z or Genesis might not.
  18. Last Man Standing is gone. With cousins like Mickey Gilley and Jimmy Swaggart, DNA is destiny.
  19. Climate change, is the Politically Correct term a US ad agency/consulting/public relations firm came up with. To help the bad press oil companies were getting about it. The real term is Global Warming. After thirty years of "sanitizing it" for a snowflake world, the original term can be used again. Global warming is not only happening right now, it is accelerating. All those predictions; in twenty years ... in fifty years blah blah blah. You can cut them in half and that new figure is an overestimate. I had hoped I would spend my remaining years traveling, drinking, just tottering off into the sunset, as old people are supposed to do. I would not have to deal with any of this warming stuff as I would be done planted by then. Wrong Again. I will have to deal with it, I am already dealing with it. garf.
  20. I think the Bush margin was something like 784 votes in Fla... but does anyone believe that if they had moved to Fla with 785 Gore voters, that the results would have been different... That was the margin, when the recount was stopped. They were recounting a heavily democratic district, then the “Brooks brothers riot” & brother Jeb happens. I have no doubt, if they finished the recount of that district, Al Gore would have won the presidency. And for those blowhards like Rooster who think a vote doesn't matter. Al Gore, good or ill, does not invade Iraq for WMD. Instead by fluke, history throws up a callow president, the unexpected happens (9/11). The deathstar twins; Rumsfeld and Cheney, yacking in his ear, The rest is history. Al Gore as president, no Iraq WMD adventure. The first major US clusterpuck of the new millennium is averted. Al was never big on unregulated banking either so a good chance he would have moved on the banks and their CD swap madness before the implosion of 2008. Stopping the recount, declaring Bush winner was thought no big deal at the time. We are still paying the price for that “epic disaster”.
  21. Obviously a sign from God. I got up and got the coffee brewing.
  22. No one can tell you the exact temperature it will will be for early December. However the numbers guy from our swim group states ‘when the monsoon shifts to the non-rains, the higher-pressure atmosphere system that flows south from central Asia is dryer, not as much humidity, and by extension holds less heat’. While the days are clear & sunny, temperatures will drop during the nights. That will lower a non-heated pools water temp. String some of these days together and you have a cool pool. He uses 66 F, 18.88 C night time temp, as a line where water temp for a swimmer will be significantly affected. As a morning swimmer, I can attest his redline night temp figures are spot on. A little-known record up north last year, it was the “longest cool season on record”. Not the coldest, the longest. This year is supposed to be a repeat and ‘more so’. It is already starting now, a month earlier than last year(!) BTW. Great weather if you are traveling, if you are swimming, Ouch. If all you want is a quick dip, brief swim, the sun will warm it by the afternoon. Brisk on entry, but doable.
  23. One gets the idea that is the real reason for the Faux outrage over CNN. It's worked in the past, try to focus national attention on something culturally acceptable to vent outrage on. In this case western journos. Anything but the real issues & problems.
