  1. It is, for most of us humans.
  2. Just had my first one done at 67. No polyps or cancer but they found H Pylori, which was a concern because I had the same symptoms you have. Loose and normal stools , stomach pain, gas. No blood I could see in stool, but did that colonoscopy and endoscopy because I'm 17 years overdue. My daughter had one at 36 and had many polyps removed, so I was concerned. I'm on two antibiotics and an antacid, seems to be working fine. I also stopped coffee, which I love, because it makes you loose. I'll have it every now and then, but not daily like before. Always ate healthy, plenty of fiber, veggies and lean meat and fish, exercised all my life, so I know I helped myself all these years.
  3. That's what I meant. I've known many school bus drivers when I lived there, as I had 4 children in schools.
  4. True. I mentioned in another post what I see almost daily here in the country. Trucks not only overloaded inside but up to 12 or more students riding on the top. One false move and all those on top either die or are very hurt. This I will never allow with my daughter and is another reason I will leave within 2 years, before she's in a higher school where this mode of transportation occurs.
  5. What also makes it safer for students in the US is actually having people who passed a hard test before they were put in the driver's seat shuttling children.
  6. Traveling with a 6 year old makes most of us parents and caretakers paranoid a little, knowing you have to keep an eye on them all the time. Asking the bus driver if the girl is on board isn't too smart.
  7. I feel the same way about some criminals. People who steal, do drugs to get high, cheat on partners, call people names, are all doing wrong, but hardly in the class of rapists, murderers of innocents, child molesters, corrupt officials that traffic humans, the traffickers themselves and those that rape the earth for profit. These most anyone would like to see sit in a cell for many years to think about what they did. It's called empathy when you can feel what others feel, putting yourself in a victims shoes. It's called being human.
  8. Agree with most besides the part about tattoos. Everyone in my family has them besides me, and they're all good kids (adults now). My dad had one also. And there are quite a few people who work out that are psychos. Many are narcissists. But true if they're doing something healthy they're more likely to be healthier in thinking, as the better you take care of yourself, the more likely you'll take better care of others. Also not to generalize. Your second paragraph rings true for some that post here. I call them brown nosers, as they actually think if they defend locals that those locals care about them. Yes, you should treat everyone well, but there's a difference as you can tell.
  9. Sad thing is many people look up to politicians, billionaire developers, actors, actresses, sports figures and the Kardashians. Anyone ho has ash and they might get some from is a hero, even if he's a human trafficker underground.
  10. Daily I see these kinds of laughable posts. People thinking they can generalize about foreigners about how they act. How many do you actually really know here? It would truthfully be a fraction of who lives here, meaning less than 1%. I know personally maybe 30 or so, and only a couple well enough to comment on their behavior, which is good from what I see. No one lives with anyone else 24/7 so you don't know but little about them. You don't know if anyone cheats or abuses their partners, of if they treat them very well, as people lie and don't want to lose face or be embarrassed with the truth coming out. The ones I know seem to treat their wives okay, from what I hear, but I don't know, and neither do you.
  11. I'm not one to doubt much without knowing the truth, but some things there I have never heard about by anyone here or online. Jewish deli sandwiches are a NYC thing, and you need all the ingredients to make one, and some I can't find here. New York /New Jersey pizza only comes from those locations, as it's not only the ingredients but the water which makes it so. I've had pizza here in a few places and nothing comes close, but I've heard there are places that do. Blackened Snapper is a US thing, as the Snapper they use in from the Gulf of Mexico and Florida areas, but mostly around Texas and Louisiana. It's a Cajun thing and I haven't heard about that here. I know you can import a lot of things, but you also need the right chef who's lived in those places. Sourdough Pretzels I haven't seen anywhere, nor online from here. When I go back to visit Texas, I bring them, along with Spaghetti Sauce, Rice a Roni, Orzo, cereals you can't get here, Spray "I don't believe it's butter", Pastina, Tuna and good Sardines, and deer jerky and sausage from a deer I shoot. I haven't seen Manhattan or New England Clam Chowder anywhere but online and high dollar, like the cereals and sauces I like. I'm guessing you can get Oysters on the half shell on the coast somewhere?
  12. Correct. I posted answering a poster earlier before I read all of the replies. Beat me to it.
  13. Some food does have worms. Raw pork and fish are two. That can surely happen by under cooking. Many intestinal worms come by touching surfaces with eggs on them, and not washing your hands is the reason many et them, especially children, who are quick to put their hands in their mouths without washing. Children playing in the dirt where animals can leave feces is a prime area. Also contaminated water. Developing countries with poor sanitation are major areas, and many of these happen to be in tropical areas.
  14. Leaving children you made and not taking responsibility of those children until they can fend for themselves, makes you a sperm donor. Kids will always know who loves them, and who is faking it. This man helped for a year, which is okay, as it wasn't his responsibility. A man who wants to be a dad stays. His agenda lied elsewhere. Not wanting to stay here is a reason, as well as family back home. Coming back now is just a friend of the moms. The girl and this man can have a relationship any way they want.
  15. If you build a bond with your stepchild, then divorce, it's still your obligation to continue to have a relationship with that stepchild, if they want one. Kids need all the love they can get, and when a stepdad makes an effort to love that child, the child will never forget it. They might be the only real parent the child has.
  16. You never know what kind of day, week or month they've had, which is just like people driving fast on the road trying to pass you. They could have a wife, girlfriend or ex that made their life miserable, at least for the time being. They could have brought this on themselves, treating their partners like crap and expecting them to be sex slaves. They could have treated their partners great, but picked crazy, narcissistic, liars ,cheaters or overly greedy ones, and their life here hasn't been a bed of roses. If they don't want to talk, I let them go on their way. If they do, we see if we can relate about shared interests. Walk a mile in their shoes or you never know.
  17. A quality tourist is one that comes to Thailand, spends money, enjoys the food and scenery, doesn't get sloppy drunk and make a nuisance of himself, and respects the culture no matter what he sees, then goes home. I thought you lived here but maybe not? If you do, this doesn't make you a tourist. There isn't any red carpets put down for anyone unless they have a lot of money to throw around to other rich people. Coming from the US, the conditions of some shops and restaurants are appalling but this is still a developing country suppressed by others. If you don't like eating at those places, try others, because people are pigs worldwide, even in the US, as I've seen. Some have good food but terrible sanitary conditions. Meat is left out on tables in supermarkets, which leaves bacteria a place to grow. Much of the time the meat smells because of this, so I take a whiff before I buy, then make sure it's fully cooked, as stomach problems here are rampant. Meat in the US is shrink wrapped and placed in a cooler tray, much cooler than what they have here. Restaurants have a rating there, and if you don't pass, you get a time period to clean up or are closed down. Won't happen here. People don't have to speak English here although it helps when dealing with foreigners. Menus are made for locals. If you want to know what's available, use translator on your phone. If you're here awhile, or have researched or tried Thai food back in your home country, you already know what you like. Crappy workers happen worldwide, and the restaurants suffer from this. If they are owners, they will learn a hard lesson soon by losing customers, something which is not good if you want to make a living.
  18. Yes, so my thinking is yes, he helped the mom for a year, then went back home. Tried to contact from what time to now? Internet wasn't available back then so of course he had to try other methods, which is hard because with you not being in country, how do you find someone? Facebook started in 2004, and you can find people easily if they're using it. Internet searching before that was possible but birth records aren't easy to see unless you're here. 1982 is when birth records came into the system here, so he could have found them then, possibly. It's nice he got into contact with her, no matter how late, because everyone wants a history of people who care, if only a little. Her father obviously didn't, so now she has something, which isn't bad.
  19. No. It takes a man and a woman. The only problem is that many men will leave after the baby is born, or soon thereafter. A woman that's pregnant by a man that leaves isn't a scumbag. Naive maybe, but many men are players, and this still hasn't gotten girls to think before they act, even though generations have taught them to wait before having sex, preferably after marriage.
  20. Always amazes me that some women actually will still leave to another place with someone they just met. Subtracting hookers of course. Ted Bundy killed over 35 women that "trusted" him because he looked normal and talked nice. Very simple. If you're attracted to a man you see that talks nice to you, arrange to meet him another day, in public, to find out more. If it goes okay then, arrange another date somewhere else, public, to find out find out even more. Let them do the talking. Continue to date in public until you feel you can trust him enough to go further, if you want to. This alone will curtail many rapes, robberies and murders. Her having a condom on her person is never a good thing, and shows intent.
  21. Ask other expats here where they live. If close, ask to meet up. Some you might want to avoid, and you can tell much of this by their comments. If you're a Brit, and you see them trashing Brits, obviously you avoid them. Like interests? Something to do with them while living here. I'm a hunter and fisherman but haven't met any that are close. A majority here are in and around the big cities of Thailand, so that makes it easy for many here to meet up. If you're in the boondocks it's not so easy. Only way is going to the local bars, which all cities have, or in a Lotus, but some barely smile when you smile at them. I tried talking to one at our local Lotus, and his wife came over and grabbed him and scurried away. The look on his face. I'm guessing she didn't want him to talk to others, thinking they might give him ideas.
  22. Thailand is in the Interpol database. Stolen passports are put in if they are stolen in Thailand. A few do get by every year with stolen passports, but stolen passports aren't used much for flying but for ID purposes. What happened just a few years ago won't happen now. If you handed your passport to someone and he immediately went to get a flight, and if they looked alike, it might get past some not paying attention. Once a passport is reported stolen, it can't be used for flying.
  23. Not one to assume, but it does sound like you know what he's doing.
  24. But then he'd have to still fly to England. Cheapest way is straight there, maybe 2 stops, unless Finland was the next stop from Thailand, but according to the story, his girlfriend expected him back straight away. not side trip to Finland and not going on.
  25. True, but again, this one is known to keep in close contact with his, which means they're close, and probably not so nasty.
