Why do people still deny the Holocaust ever happened
fredwiggy replied to Rimmer's topic in Off the beaten track
White supremacists will use any means to downplay or deny their actions. Especially ones where murder are involved. Free speech is allowed and they get recruits this way because some people were never taught respect for all races and nationalities as a child, and they bring in those who are weak and seeking attention or already have hatred in their hearts for other races. -
Bangkok taxi driver flees after attempted assault on passenger
fredwiggy replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Do you really think a woman here is going to pick up a taxi driver here? People flee when they have something to hide. If he was legitimate, he would have notified the police to question her. Taking advantage of a drunk woman is a predator's game. A man wouldn't. -
The smartest thing you can do is keep your home in England, so you can return if things aren't to your liking here. Whole different way of life and not for everyone. Seeing you already have a Thai wife, you should know about some of the customs here but to really know them you have to live here awhile, so renting is an option you might consider. Stay out of the big cities and tourist areas, especially for living, and you won't encounter most of the problems. Driving is dangerous everywhere so don't trust anyone on the roads and drive defensively.

Bangkok taxi driver flees after attempted assault on passenger
fredwiggy replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
What amazes me isn't just the crime against this woman, but the idiocy of a taxi driver doing this after picking up the woman in his cab, which can easily be tracked, and thinking it isn't going to come back to him. It's like the many who rob gold stores after parking their scooters outside in full view of cameras, then going home and not realizing they will soon be visited by the police. -
Thinking of going there soon with my girlfriend. Wondering if any have visited there , from here, and where they went, stayed, sights seen etc. I'd like to go to Halong Bay from Hanoi, taking a 2 day boat tour, after seeing Hanoi for a day, then taking a van to Halong Bay, then traveling to Danang and Hue to see the war time areas, memorials etc. Not looking for 5 star resorts but just decent places to stay in those areas, transportation to Danang and Hue, and any other tips. I'm going to apply online for the 30 day visa so I can have it when I arrive instead of waiting for the visa on arrival. My girlfriend doesn't need any visa .

ChatGPT agrees that more COVID vaccination --> more cases
fredwiggy replied to Red Phoenix's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
I was asking because I had stomach problems almost as long as I've lived here, and it looks like it was the H Pylori. Up to 70% of people worldwide have it but only affects about 20%, and sometimes can lead to cancer, which is why I was asking. Good luck in your treatment. -
The reason it's harder is because care for children pales by comparison to the west. I've never known anyone of my friends or family that didn't learn to swim as a toddler, and never a drowning. When I came here I heard, and hear about them weekly. both children and adults. People drown all over, and it's worse in other countries, but it still comes back to not being taught as young as possible. They put children on scooters here at 8 years old, they can teach them to swim.

A rant about Thai driving.. I know.. Yaaaawwwnn

When you let down your guard, you allow mishaps. That's why taking breaks every couple of hours is always good advice, even for the best of drivers. -

They're unpredictable and incompetent. Cutting people off is a major way accidents and fatalities happen here, as many get dragged underneath trucks and bumped into others on the road because they think they can get by. A scooter should stay to the side, driving in the shoulder if possible. A motorcycle should drive the same way a car does, without weaving. It's their lives they lose, as you can\t compete with an automobile. -

The safest place to drive is in the slow lanes on highways, away from everyone else. You don't trust anyone, you have a better chance to avoid accidents. Thinking they will do something stupid, which they will, not taking for granted the people around you are competent, is the way. -

You can't get out of the way if you're stopped in traffic, or driving slow and straight when they get too close then bump into you because a scooter is harder to stay straight in, especially in moving traffic that's slow. People hitting you has nothing to do with your driving. I've avoided many here that thought cutting in front of me was a good idea. -
I taught my children, along with grandma's help, as soon as they were able to walk, 2 years in all cases. A child can be taught before that, to lose their fear of water, which is one reason people drown, panicking. You have to know how to swim yourself, and most here in Thailand seem to not have that skill, to teach your children. You get in the water with them and support them while they're learning the skill. Teaching them how to swim eliminates most of the problems and accidents that would happen. Many here as adults fall in the water and panic, go under and drown. All my children back in the US learned to swim , and could swim, at less than 4.If you know how to teach a person how to swim, you know they can learn from a very young age, and it doesn't matter where on earth you learn, as long as your teacher knows what they're doing.

What were, are, your symptoms? I had H Pylori and did the treatment and it's better but still have some gastritis symptoms, which do happen after the treatment because your gut microbiota are hurt from the antibiotics. I also had an endoscopy and colonoscopy (my firsts), with only the H Pylori coming up. No polyps and they said stomach was only a little inflamed from the H Pylori. What diagnosis did you get and from what tests? -
"Authorities have reminded residents to exercise caution around artificial ponds, particularly those lined with slippery materials, and to keep children under close supervision near water sources.".............Of course these are good ideas but it's the parent's responsibility to teach their children how to swim to avoid these scenarios. This happens every week here and there's a simple solution to reduce many if not all of them. It's not only children but adults too. It's called care.

I drove in Bangkok a few times and do not like the idea of going back. I drove in the NYC metro area for 30 years, including working in NYC, and I'd much rather drive there than here. The risks many take here far outweigh those I saw back in the NYC area, including all of New Jersey. In Bangkok at least 5 scooters bumped my car trying to pass me. This is why the death rate is so high here. lack of concern and terrible driving ability. Haven't been to Vietnam or India yet, but I hear it's pretty bad in those places also. -

Unlike the west, there is no respect for pedestrians here. In a parking lot, count on a car maintaining it's movement if you try to walk across it's path. We do not have the right of way like in the west. I'm guessing this isn't taught on the driving test so they don\t care. Scooters on sidewalks along with constant weaving in and out of traffic surely accounts for many of the 60 daily deaths here. Passing others and coming into you lane head on and expecting you to pull over to let them pass. Passing you on your right when you're in the right lane, going into oncoming traffic instead of passing you on your left in the left lane. Most incompetent and disrespectful drivers I've ever seen in 51 years of driving. -
The Neo-Imperialist was Serious About Stealing Greenland

No matter how much power he now has, not everything he asks for will be adhered to. Things still have to go through Congress, and they've seen many presidents try and use their power to change things. The US will never be against Europe as that's where most of our ancestors come from, and now so many live in America. Trade is necessary between most nations and that won't change because there is money to be made, and commodities that people want. Most countries thrive on this trade, so only a moron would try and change that, and that moron won't last. As far as Trump, time will tell if he sticks with his many promises or just gets caught up in his usual power trip all for his own ego.
