  1. There is an app called Ling that is often compared to Duolingo. Unlike Duolingo, Ling doesn't give you much for free and I did not pay for Ling so can not say if it is any good.
  2. In Yasothon if you stay in the city center it is easy to get to the location of the rockets. It may be hard to find a hotel in the city now. I looked on Agoda yesterday and did not see anything in the center. I have not been to Kutwa, Kuchinari so have no idea. The schedule I got from my hotel last year said the rockets would start at 7 in the morning. I think they did not really get going until about 9. I attached the schedule from last year, sorry I only have the Thai version and had to run everything through google translate.
  3. I will also be traveling solo but will ride my motorbike to Isan so will not be doing taxis. I don't really have any good ideas of what to do between the 2 festivals. I did the frog museum in Yasothon and a couple of temples but the thing I really enjoyed was a few of the village festivals from the pink flyer I posted. I did find it a little difficult to find these but if you speak Thai you may find it easy.
  4. Looking online Creed is set to start another reunion tour in July of this year with 3 Doors Down as a supporting act. It seems the members have been going back and forth between Creed and Alter Bridge since 2009. I should listen to both bands newer stuff.
  5. I thought the four bands you talked about were all successful. The wiki for Creed says they were the 9th best selling act in the 2000s and they broke up in 2004. I personally preferred the band Alter Bridge that was mostly Creed members forming in 2004 after Creed broke up.
  6. You may not have wanted the answer in the form of a song but this song puts a smile on my face.
  7. Thanks for the information it is very helpful. I will look for a hotel and plan to attend. Is it like the Yasothon festival where the rockets are early on Sunday morning?
  8. I can find that the Yasothon rocket festival will be taking place between the 10th and 12th of May but I would like to go to some of the smaller locations. Does anyone know where to find some information on the festivals in other provinces? Last year I showed up in Yasothon a week early for the festival due to the election. The hotel had this flyer so I got to attend some of the village festivals in the week I had to kill. I seemed to enjoy the village festivals as much as the big one in Yasothon city. If there are flyers like this in your area or banners like the picture I would be grateful if you are willing to share them. Thanks in advance to any help you can provide.
  9. Mr BS, you could buy Aseannow? I think it may be the best way to become a Mod.
  10. I enjoyed following you along on your travels. I look forward to your next tour. Thanks for all the posts and pictures.
  11. I am not an expert but I think with a limited amount of time in Thailand they should be fine. They may want to have an onward ticket and 20K baht but usually immigration does not ask to see these.
  12. You may want to provide addition information about your friends time in Thailand. If this is their first time in Thailand and they have only spent 60 days it is a lot different compared to someone that has been traveling around and this will be the 6th time entering the country in the past year. If they are going to spend some time in Vientiane they could always make an appointment and apply for a Thai tourist visa.
  13. I don't think there are many other advantages other than the time of your stay. You get no advantage in health services. Tourist and Retires pay the same rate in Thailand. The one I can think of is you can not get a 5 year driving license on a tourist visa and recently read you can not buy a car when on a tourist visa but I don't know if that is true everywhere in Thailand.
  14. Sorry I think I am missing the meaning of your question. The obvious answer for me is you can stay in Thailand longer then 60 days with a Non-Imm-O based on retirement. The single entry tourist visa only allows 60 days without going to immigration.
  15. A couple of years ago @chrissables did a tour around Thailand on a Royal Enfield. Following is the link to his tour and it has a link to the first part of the tour as well. He is currently on a tour with a Honda CT-125 but maybe he can give you some feedback on his experience with Royal Enfield since he did a lot of KM.
  16. Small point but I believe you will be doing the 2023 filing this year. @Jingthing I used 34.802 from the following URL. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/yearly-average-currency-exchange-rates
  17. The story of leaving and returning is about as real as Mr BS's Rolex. I have to admit I enjoy fiction so keep the stories coming. This was not your best work but I appreciate the effort.
  18. Would the author of the golden rule and usually depicted with long hair and wearing a dress be offended to occasionally share his day.
  19. I enjoyed traveling around the country way back in 2013. Did not think about it being a long term place for me at the time. I was more interested in exploring the world before getting a retirement visa for Thailand. Maybe now would be a good time to go check it out for a month if you are not a fan of Songkran.
  20. Please let us know if you enjoy Gentleman from Moscow. I saw it trending but am undecided if I want to download it based on the trailer.
  21. Funny I think I am a mix of all of these but number 4. 1) Denial - it’ll never happen I am not sure Thailand will really make all retires file tax returns. 2) Anger - bloody incompetents, they don’t tax their own people so they tax us, low hanging fruit How do you make a change that possibly impacts most expats and not clearly communicate this. I find all the information I have read here helpful but feel like this should be communicated by the Thai government. 3) Bargaining - I could spend 179 days here and then holiday in Cambodia for 7 days and then….blah blah When I learned about this change I brought more money into Thailand prior to 2024. I will remit under 120K in 2024 so believe I am not required to file a tax return. I want to see the chaos when all the expats try to file their first tax return in Thailand in the start of 2025. I have seen the lines at immigration when it is spread over 12 months. My understanding is it will be required for everyone to do taxes in the first 3 months of the year. If I feel like I am going to have to get an agent to deal with the taxes I may spend my 800K and move. 5) Acceptance - Well, it’s only going to be about 12k baht per year so not too bad. I think at the amount I bring into the country it will only be about 7K a year. If this is really the case I will increase my retirement withdraw so my home country tax is about equal to this and then claim a foreign tax credit. Sorry for a long answer but I find this tax stuff all rather confusing. I do appreciate all the answers I have received here and have my plan for 2024. I will see what 2025 holds before doing anything crazy.
  22. Why do you say these crazy things if you don't want people to quote you?
  23. Mr BS once said he came to Thailand "to slowly drink myself to death in the sun." Now he is upset that people are encouraging him to complete his mission.
  24. Australia must not have much news it they cover a concert interruption in Toledo Ohio.
