  1. Is it still considered a cover when they changed about half the words from Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire?
  2. I think the health insurance requirement of only the 400K is wrong. In 2022 they increased the requirement to 3 million for the O-A and I just assumed it increased for the O-X as well. The Sydney Embassy also list the O-A as 400K insurance requirement which I believe is also wrong. I looked on a US Embassy page and it has the 3 million requirement for both. Just wanted to point this possible error out before you buy any insurance that may not have enough coverage. When I entered Thailand they checked my insurance policy before stamping my passport.
  3. I disagree with this. It is all about Trump and the thing I really don't understand about republicans. If they wanted to win they would nominate anyone but Trump. The only way Biden can win is to run against Trump. The republicans are willing to take a 50/50 chance of winning rather than nominate someone younger and take the easy win.
  4. The link had the line "Australia was also “a lot less right wing compared to the US”. " That line may be true but Murdoch an Ozzy has a bit of the blame on how far right the US has gone. Fox also talks a lot about the 2nd amendment so think the US can blame an Ozzy on a bit of the guns violence. I don't disagree with that idea that Oz may be a better place to live than the US but think most places in the western world would also be better from the items in this survey.
  5. This made me think of one of your old threads. You are a tosser and have no respect for others or the danger you may cause. Throwing something on the beach is bad but off the 32nd level is crazy. "Even I didn't want to throw my old clothes out and I hesitated so I just threw it out the window on my level 32 balcony here in Sydney Australia ,I have no idea where it landed and I don't care ,it's out of my life ! "
  6. I am going to reply to my own question since I used this yesterday to visit a Sai Yok National park. I did not look at the site after the first day and was surprised they have added a lot of parks so if wanting to go to a park you may want to check again. Only request the ticket the day before because it is only good for 24 hours and are only allowed to request a park once. I was also asked to show my passport when entering the park but had it with me so the park entry was free.
  7. Now would be a good time if you want to get in for free. It is one of the national parks in the expat privileges which can be used until the end of February. Don't request the ticket until the day before arrival at the park because it is only valid for 24 hours. I went to Sai Yok National Park yesterday and it was a nice day out but would have been really disappointed if I would have had to pay.
  8. I transferred money into Thailand in 2023 to meet my needs for 2024. If I have income in 2024 outside of Thailand but transfer less than 120,000 into Thailand am I still required to file a tax return?
  9. There was a story not too long ago about someone in a tent on Patong beach.
  10. Do you take requests of things to do on your exploring? Since you are in the Chiang Mai area could you try and see how well the Expat Privileges works to enter one of the national parks for free that are on this offer? Maybe Doi Suthep-Pui National Park since it is in the area. https://expatprivileges.com/deal/8323 I want to try and visit some of the parks on offer but don't want to make a long ride to find out it is not really free. Note you only have 24 hours to enter the park after the request or at least that is what I saw when I requested one park.
  11. I agree with this but I also like Jim Jefferies's bit about God and if he exists he is an A-hole.
  12. I hope you enjoy walking down the streets of Japan while watching the pretty Thai script dance through your head while listening to it spoken. S=สษศ , look at all the pretty Ss. You could just say you changed you mind about moving to Japan.
  13. Seems a bit strange to me but each to their own. I personally can't tell the difference in the different Thai letters for S when it is spoken so listening would not work for me. Have you thought about learning Georgian I find its script pretty. Does Lazada ship to Japan?
  14. Sorry I am a bit confused but didn't you move to Japan? Why are you trying to learn Thai when you left Thailand for the greener pastures of Japan?
  15. I watched Dream Scenario with Nicolas Cage tonight. I thought it was an OK watch and something a bit different. I would not give it the 7.1 it has on IMDB but still thought it was worth my time even if it was a bit slow. Just watched the trailer before posting this and think it may have all the best bits of the movie.
  16. You may want to state if the agent provided the funds in the bank or you did it yourself. It may made a difference if you should deal with immigration yourself or if it would be better to use the agent for your 90 day report.
  17. If someone visits one of the national parks using this offer please post a review. The national park close to me is not on the list or I would give it a try tomorrow. I will plan to visit some of the parks but would like to here feedback on how well it works before making a 5 hour drive.
  18. You talk about getting a 5 year driver licenses with the O-A. This is not the case unless you already have a Thai licenses. Your first Thai licenses will only be for 2 years and then when you renew you go to the 5 year unless you are on a tourist visa.
  19. What is exciting to one person may seem boring to another so without knowing more about your interest it is hard to make recommendation. You don't have Buriram listed so maybe Prasat Phanom Rung or Korat and visit Phimai. If beaches are more your thing there is Prachuap Khiri Khanmn or Chumphon. Hope you find something interesting for the holidays.
  20. I made an appointment but it was not good for anything. I did not reply because you wanted to hear from people where it worked. I have not read any reports from Jomtien where an appointment did any good but I know things are changing all the time so was hoping to hear it was now working.
  21. Bob, You told us before all this tax stuff that you were planning on leaving Thailand by April of 2024 so have your plans changed again? None of these places sound like they have excellent public healthcare systems and clean streets which you said you were looking forward to having. I think it is a great idea to get out and explore the world. You have been unhappy in Thailand and a change may be good for you. In the past you didn't seem to like it when people recommend you leave the country and try something different. With all the money you have sitting in bitcoin you should really get out and enjoy yourself. Maybe I missed it but I have not read any recent reports on your spending the 50,000 usd allocated for high season partying. Let us know if you still have part of the budget left and of any highlights you are willing to share.
  22. Black Forest is the first one I thought of but if willing to go a bit out of town there is Coffee War or Suriyaland.
  23. For me it is more about tracking my finances than the specific details of my spending. I started using quicken to save me time and feel it has done that over the years. It took less time to sit down at the end of the month with my pile of papers and enter them into a program and let it do all the simple math and verify that it balanced with my bank statement. I could have done that with paper and pen but it would have taken longer. I could have also just trusted the bank to get things correct but was taught as a child you should balance your accounts monthly. I later did this with a credit card account and a few times caught false charges. I also track my investments and like being able to see the return or loss by just updating the current prices. You may be correct in that I earn to little but watching my finances got to a point in my life that I don't have to work. I feel it has been time well spent.
  24. Thanks everyone for all the feedback it has been very helpful. I will start working on exporting some of my data to spreadsheets. I think I will delete most of it but think I should keep the cost-basis on my investment accounts. I will also try the program that @Rigsby was so kind to share. Thanks @Rimmer for an example of how to track my spending. @Lacessit hope you make it to that age where you are only living on a pension. 105 would be impressive. I don't get a pension so the idea of spending all my money in one month would be one great month but the next month I would have to join the flying from a condo group.
