I have recently read that you no longer need an appointment but not sure I believe it. https://thethaiger.com/news/national/walk-in-driving-license-services-now-available-in-thailand

I understand Net Worth just not why a pension account with the name of 401K is included in net worth and a pension account without that name does not count. My Dutch private pension has a worth of 50K Euros. My US 401K has a worth of 50K USD. Why should I count one and not the other in my net worth? Both are not state pensions and both invested in the market.

Medical Certificate - Cheap places to get one for a Motorbike Licence
biervoormij replied to bbi1's topic in Pattaya
I used a place called Buakhouw Clinic 312/81 Soi Buakhao a few months ago. It is across the street from LK metro. Sorry don't recall the price but I thought it was a good price. -
Diesel Turbo Engine Long-Tail Boat Racing Thailand
biervoormij replied to joan1's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
If you find some info please share it. I found the following web site https://tpba.or.th/ but it is for races from last June. There is also a link to a facebook page but chrome did not translate that for me so could not tell if there was anything useful. Good Luck -
Not looking forward to my next visit to Immigration. I wish we were not restricted to the immigration office in the province where we live. I would happily make a road trip to avoid the lines. Road trip to Phetchabun to do my extension of stay sounds like it would be fun. If I were a tourist and extending my visa I would spend a night in Rayong and extend my visa there or go to Bangkok where there is an appointment system.

Thailand Remains Popular Destination for Russian Tourists
biervoormij replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I did not notice that Russians where rude when I was in Russia but they sure are rude here. I will have to see if the Chinese match and surpass the Russians on the Chinese return. The spitting in China is something that was a bit off putting and I really did not like putting my bag on the floor of trains or buses but I loved traveling in China. -
Thailand Remains Popular Destination for Russian Tourists
biervoormij replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Have you had any interactions with Russians? I thought rude was invented in Russia. I have only had the pleasure of dealing with Chinese tourist when traveling in China so maybe I just don't how they are in Thailand. -
What Thailand YouTubers Are You Watching (2023)
biervoormij replied to NotReallyHere's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The Thailand content I seem to watch mostly is news summaries. Fabulous 103 FM, The Pattaya News, Phuket Xtra and The Thaiger daily news but don't like their morning show. I subscribe to a number of other youtubers but seem to skip around in most of their videos not really watching them. -
Top things tourists like to do in Thailand
biervoormij replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I believe currently there are a large number of tourist here to escape being drafted back in Russia. They seem to eat some Thai food so maybe that is the answer they give on their survey. -

I have one these birds close to my condo. For a small bird it can make a lot of noise and goes on all hours of the day and night.

Convert O-A to O at Jomtien. MAJOR GLITCH
biervoormij replied to Lichiyado's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
@Lichiyado Is there any update on how you decide to address the issue? Did you go to an agent or plan to leave the country again? If you plan to leave the country are you just doing a border run or applying at an embassy or consulate in a neighboring country for a Non-O there? -
Sorry I am repeating myself. Do the check yourself. If you are in the US now do a google search on the state you are in for a background check for a visa. If you are currently in Thailand follow the directions on the embassy's webpage. https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/fingerprint-cards/ Get your fingerprints and follow the directions on https://th.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/90/criminal-record-check-instructions-2017.pdf It says the FBI charges $18 for the background check. A low price to pay before talking to someone about the elite visa.

Thanks for your post. I had a real misunderstanding of the consequences of testing positive for drug use. I thought that it could possibly involve prison time. If it is only a fine I now understand the casual nature of the reports that 15 people tested positive for using drugs. I also understand why people do not fight getting tested like they did back in October at the CLUB ONE raid in Pattaya. If the fine is still 1,000 baht it is about equal to the new fine for riding a motorcycle without a helmet.

US tax penalty if cancelling Obama care as an expat?
biervoormij replied to ding's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
On the search I did I put in 2017 since I found that that is the year that congress removed the penalty but https://www.healthcare.gov/taxes-2020/no-health-coverage/ says the same thing. Maybe a link about 2023 would make you feel better. https://help.ihealthagents.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001888334-What-is-the-penalty-for-not-having-health-insurance-in-2023- I did not pay a penalty for 2020 or 2021 and there was no question about it in turbo tax. If you did have Obama care in one of these years you will still need to file a form 8962 on your returns. Not related to health insurance but don't forget to file fincen 114 if you brought in the 800K retirement requirement into Thailand. I think it is required for any account over 10K USD outside the US. I don't think you owe any penalty but hope you find something that sets your mind at ease. -

You can look at the link https://www.healthcare.gov/taxes-2017/no-health-coverage/. It has the following line about the penalty. "This applies for plan years 2018 and earlier. (The fee for not having health insurance no longer applies.)"
