What's the catch, a Samsung Galaxy for 68 Baht?
biervoormij replied to giddyup's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Think someone else has also noticed this. -
I don't think the tourist tax is damaging Thailand's reputation abroad. I would be surprised if most tourist have even heard about this new tax. If they are coming to Thailand and don't care about the dual pricing, the Taxi mafia and the air quality an additional 300 baht added to an already expensive airline ticket is just a drop in the bucket.

Train ride from Chiang Mai to Bangkok
biervoormij replied to bignok's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Bang Pa In would be south of Ayutthaya but maybe he got the direction wrong. Bang Pa In is on my list of the places to see. I tried to go during Covid but the palace was closed because of Covid. Still a nice day taking the train from Bangkok and back again. -
Finnish man accused by neighbours of insulting Thai people
biervoormij replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
"Jarae sustained a laceration near his mouth, a broken jaw, and facial disfigurement." "She believed the serious injuries were caused when Jarae fell to the floor by himself." Two different stories not sure which to believe but don't think Jarae broke his jaw by a fall. I would guess that all involved share a bit of the guilt. -
Rode out towards Huay Yai today on the motorbike and kids were playing along the side of the road exchanging splashes with people in the back of trucks. The kids did not seem to want to waste their water on a big ugly farang so I stayed almost dry.

Train ride from Chiang Mai to Bangkok
biervoormij replied to bignok's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
If you recall the name please let me know. If it is somewhere I have not been I would have to make a point to visit. I personal enjoyed Ayutthaya more than Sukhothai but can see if someone felt the opposite. -

Ayutthaya is well worth a stop if you have the time. -
I have other questions about changing province and hope you don't mind me asking on your thread. Are there other things that need to be considered besides immigration? Will I need to change my address for my driver license? Will I need to get the plates changed on my motorbike? Any other things that need to be changed?

I think the difference between a Free Spirit and someone Not right in the head can be very slight. I prefer to consider myself a free spirit but am sure some people have thought I was not right in the head. I lived in a SUV for a little over a year driving around visiting National Parks in the US. I really enjoyed it but know some of my family thought I was a nutter.

The cost of the gym membership has to be more than the cost of showering at home.
-
I wonder if you misunderstood your friend. Don't see how the cost of joining a gym could save money on the water bill. Maybe he was making a joke. I am frugal and retired. I don't understand people that prefer to keep working to maintain spending money foolishly.

How are the visa rules now?

The 45 day went away at the end of March and is now back to 30 days. -
How are the visa rules now?
biervoormij replied to sweetserenity's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Laos did not check for being vaccinated when I went in February. If you do a border run to Laos or Cambodia and re-enter Thailand you will get a 30-day visa exemption which can be extended an additional 30 days. In both countries you can apply for a 60 day tourist visa and then extended it an additional 30 days. If you plan to apply for a tourist visa in Vientiane you will need to make an appointment. -
I have got a bucket full of water in the face going a bit too fast on the bike but thankfully no accident. Sorry you were not as lucky.

I found this thread when looking for the 2023 calendar. A calendar was posted shortly after this thread. Thought it might be useful to have a link to the calendar at the end of this topic.

I think it is interesting that immigration will be open on the 19th. Getting in and out of the office with dry paper work might be a challenge. Anyone planing to go to immigration the 18th or 19th? https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/pattaya-jomtien-chonburi-immigration-confirms-closure-dates-428926

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)
biervoormij replied to CharlieH's topic in Entertainment
Don't recall anyone talking about The Old Way on this thread. I watched it last night and think the rating on imdb of 5.4 is about right. I like watching westerns so watched this even with the low rating. If you like Nicolas Cage or westerns it may be worth your time but if you are looking for a great movie than give this a pass. -
Just stay out of it. I am sure you are not getting the whole story. If she really wants him out he would be gone. I think she is telling you a lie and you believe it.

biervoormij replied to Steven55's topic in Pattaya
Holiday Inn does a breakfast buffet but a bit pricey at 500 baht.
