  1. I enjoyed the book by Fredirik Backman called A Man Called Ove but never know if I will like something I enjoyed reading being turned into a film. Today A Man Called Otto popped up on the trending torrents on 1337 so downloaded it and watched it. I thought it was pretty good and always seem to like Tom Hanks movies. It has a 7.6 rating on IMDB. I guess I should now download the original Swedish movie and see how it compares.
  2. I believe the everyday train lease at 6:55 in the morning from Hua Lampong. I agree with @digbeth that unless you are a train lover it is the worst way to travel to Pattaya. I did the train in the other direction about a week ago and took a picture of the stops. I switched to the air rail link at Lat Krabang. After about 3 hours on the train I was hot and hungry. I thought there would be vendors selling things on the train so did not take food or drinks with me which was a mistake.
  3. Thanks Dr Jack54. I just don't want them asking about insurance when I extend at the end of April. Was I correct in asking about the 1 year entry? I really liked the idea of getting one year but thought it might cause problem in the future.
  4. I just returned from Vientiane Laos and am a bit confused by my entry stamp. I received a new Non-O based on Retirement while in Vientiane. I did not have a re-entry permit so assumed that it would kill off my 3 year old O-A but the immigration officer wrote O A under the visa-class on the entry stamp. I have attached a picture of stamp. The immigration officer initially gave me a 1 year time frame on my stay. I said I thought I would only receive 90 days. He then took my passport back and changed it to 90 days. At some point he drew a line through my new visa and wrote something on it but not sure if it is Thai or English. I did not notice the line through the visa or the O A until I was at the airport in Udon Thani. Should I be concerned about the O A on the entry stamp?
  5. When you book a guesthouse in Pai or Ko Pha Ngan you should expect to be around a bit of pot smoke. Buddhists believe all of the things a person goes through in life cause suffering and they cannot do anything about it. Instead, they have to accept that it is there. Take this as a task in your meditation to accept your neighbor and learn from the experience.
  6. https://www.dlt-elearning.com/ Is the link to watch the videos and a few simple question. It asked questions sometimes in the middle of the video to make sure you are still there. Turns out I did not need to do this. I was going from a 2 year to 5 year license and the lady said you only have to watch the video every 5 years.
  7. I have recently read that you no longer need an appointment but not sure I believe it. https://thethaiger.com/news/national/walk-in-driving-license-services-now-available-in-thailand
  8. I understand Net Worth just not why a pension account with the name of 401K is included in net worth and a pension account without that name does not count. My Dutch private pension has a worth of 50K Euros. My US 401K has a worth of 50K USD. Why should I count one and not the other in my net worth? Both are not state pensions and both invested in the market.
  9. You say no to pension counting buy I assume you include IRA and 401K accounts in the net worth? Some of the European pensions are a lot like a US 401K and maybe should be included.
  10. I used a place called Buakhouw Clinic 312/81 Soi Buakhao a few months ago. It is across the street from LK metro. Sorry don't recall the price but I thought it was a good price.
  11. It could be the Khlong Saen Saep boat service that runs through the city rather than a tour. Does anyone know if the Krungkasem boat service between Hua Lamphong and Thewarat market are still running and are they still free?
  12. If you find some info please share it. I found the following web site https://tpba.or.th/ but it is for races from last June. There is also a link to a facebook page but chrome did not translate that for me so could not tell if there was anything useful. Good Luck
  13. Not looking forward to my next visit to Immigration. I wish we were not restricted to the immigration office in the province where we live. I would happily make a road trip to avoid the lines. Road trip to Phetchabun to do my extension of stay sounds like it would be fun. If I were a tourist and extending my visa I would spend a night in Rayong and extend my visa there or go to Bangkok where there is an appointment system.
  14. Is Sputnik V an approved vaccine in Thailand? Will this change in policy have an impact on the number of Russian tourist entering the country?
  15. @IAMHERE Can you give us an update on how your conversation with Charles Schwab went? Were they happy with your Brother In Law's address or are they still planning on closing your account?
  16. I did not notice that Russians where rude when I was in Russia but they sure are rude here. I will have to see if the Chinese match and surpass the Russians on the Chinese return. The spitting in China is something that was a bit off putting and I really did not like putting my bag on the floor of trains or buses but I loved traveling in China.
  17. Have you had any interactions with Russians? I thought rude was invented in Russia. I have only had the pleasure of dealing with Chinese tourist when traveling in China so maybe I just don't how they are in Thailand.
  18. I recalled the following thread that sounds almost the same as this one. Maybe it was the same Immigration Officer and the two posters look similar.
  19. The Thailand content I seem to watch mostly is news summaries. Fabulous 103 FM, The Pattaya News, Phuket Xtra and The Thaiger daily news but don't like their morning show. I subscribe to a number of other youtubers but seem to skip around in most of their videos not really watching them.
  20. I believe currently there are a large number of tourist here to escape being drafted back in Russia. They seem to eat some Thai food so maybe that is the answer they give on their survey.
  21. I understand you prefer this.
  22. I understand you would rather see all of us in speedos!
  23. I have one these birds close to my condo. For a small bird it can make a lot of noise and goes on all hours of the day and night.
  24. @Lichiyado Is there any update on how you decide to address the issue? Did you go to an agent or plan to leave the country again? If you plan to leave the country are you just doing a border run or applying at an embassy or consulate in a neighboring country for a Non-O there?
  25. Sorry I am repeating myself. Do the check yourself. If you are in the US now do a google search on the state you are in for a background check for a visa. If you are currently in Thailand follow the directions on the embassy's webpage. https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/fingerprint-cards/ Get your fingerprints and follow the directions on https://th.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/90/criminal-record-check-instructions-2017.pdf It says the FBI charges $18 for the background check. A low price to pay before talking to someone about the elite visa.
