There may be other reason why Trump doesn't read briefings: https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-mental-health-michael-wolff-learning-disabilities-dementia-adhd-read-semi-literate-fire-and-fury-latest-a8146176.html -

i don't think Trump would be like Hitler. Trump isn't a vegetarian and doesn't speak German. -

Not reading things seems to be a MAGA thing that even extends to Trump. Couldn't be anything important, or anything Trump would understand, in intel briefings, now could there? https://www.usnews.com/opinion/thomas-jefferson-street/articles/2018-02-09/why-it-matters-that-trump-doesnt-read-his-daily-intelligence-briefings -

I suppose that could be consistent with his plans to abandon Ukraine to Putin, leave NATO and hand Taiwan to Xi. -

So you agreee that Trump will instigate a Pogrom. He's already said that the Jews would be to blame if he lost. Will he follow Hitler and round up the Jews in the Great Pogrom you have confirmed? -

Does Trump know that Hitler's generals tried to kill him on more than one occasion? The 20 July 1944 attempt led by von Stauffenberg was perhaps the most famous. -
Once all this election nonsense has passed, and the new congress has been sworn in, I expect all Republican senators and congressmen to drop everything and zero in on Hunter Biden's laptop. Until they get this issue sorted, they shouldn't take up anything else. It shouldn't take them much more than another four years.

There are insurers in Thailand that offer outbound travel insurance. Best stick with the local operation of one of the major multinational companies such as AXA, AIG, etc. and use a good broker to help you find what works best for you, although there isn't much difference between local offerings. Note that the medical limits tend to be low. I think the maximum that AXA offers is 4 million baht and AIG 5 million. There are options from offshore sources that may offer higher limits if that is of importance to you. Just make sure that you're dealing with one of the larger insurers domiciled in a jurisdiction with good oversight such as UK, EU, etc. and use a broker. Good luck.

Perhaps policies that were issued more recently already contain the restrictive wording, but older policies don't and the new wording only applies to them. But difficult to tell based upon this. I think it was fairly clear from the broker's statement in the OP that the changes were being implemented with respect to existing policies. In fact, the broker stated that WRLife originally wanted to impose them mid-term instead of at renewal.

Well, that certainly clears things up, doesn't it?

You'll just have to settle for the motorbikes until the jet skis start up in the morning. I know it's a poor substitute, but I doubt the police will be able to get the jet ski guys out and about before then.

55 inch Samsung TV just quit recently. No power. Mrs. Shrdlu called a local independent repair shop nearby and gave the model number. The tech said it was 90% likely to be the power board and it would cost baht 2,500 to fix. We'll take it to the shop next week to see how it goes. Meantime we're using the Samsung 40 incher from 2009 or so that we had put into the storage room. Still works fine.

I don't think the OIC would allow an insurer to use anything other than a legal address on their policy documents. I also believe that the other contact details would lead to PC. The term underwriter and insurer are often used interchangeably in the insurance industry, so rest assured that in this context PC is the underwriter/insurer. Being domiciled in Thailand, PC comes under the regulatory framework of the OIC. There is no other insurance regulator in Thailand, so that shouldn't be a question. I don't think PC Thailand has been rated by any of the major rating agencies, but this isn't unusual for the smaller local operations of multinational companies. Financial information is available here https://www.pacificcrosshealth.com/en/financials/ and possibly elsewhere (SET) since PC is a publicly-traded company. There is no mystery.

I can find this one, but the name is slightly different: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/14167438. The most recent filing indicates the company is dormant. And there's this: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/company/14167438 which indicates it is registered as a broker or agent and not an insurance company.

I can't find any information for WRLife Participative Insurance Ltd on the Companies House website.

Online reviews are really not very helpful. Positive reviews are often posted by those who have a financial interest in the company being reviewed. Those who have had a bad experience are more likely to post a review than those who have a good or neutral experience. Some negative policyholders' reviews genuinely stem from the insurance company acting in bad faith, others come about because the policyholder did not fulfill their obligations under the policy, especially with respect to disclosure. Hard to figure out which is which based upon what is said in an online review. What every policyholder should know is the legal name, address and contact details of the insurer actually underwriting their policy as well as the financial security of the insurer and the identity of the regulator overseeing them. With the exception of financial strength rating information, this should be contained in the policy itself. Note that the broker's information, while necessary, isn't sufficient. A good way to determine an insurer's financial strength is by looking up ratings by Standard and Poor, AM Best or other rating agencies. While not all insurers submit to such analysis and formal rating, there should be little reluctance on an insurer's part to disclose their audited financial statements. I also believe that a professional insurance broker would be remiss at not having vetted in this manner an insurance company with which they place their clients' business. Reluctance to disclose financial information on the part of the insurer would be a red flag for me. What do the policies issued by WRLife the insurance broker say about the insurer that is actually providing the coverage? Is it consistent with the graphic that was posted above or with the information provided on the Nevis regulator's website? I think it may be difficult to be consistent with both, since the two sources don't appear to show the same information.

Fresh Push to Send Thaksin Back to Jail Intensifies
Etaoin Shrdlu replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think this is misdirection. I don't think the aim is to jail Thaksin for influencing PT, the goal is to dissolve PT for being influenced by Thaksin. The PT MPs would then be up for grabs by the remaining coalition parties and Prawit or Anutin would end up on top. -
Six years ago, my wife was able to obtain a visa in order to accompany our eldest daughter to the US to start university. The consular official asked about my length of stay and employment in Thailand and to see my passport. She did not have my passport with her, but apparently they were satisfied with her answers and approved her application. About twenty years earlier, before we were married, she was able to get a visa to visit the US. I provided a letter on company letterhead (US multinational) stating that I would ensure her return and I also provided a letter from the executive director of one of the foreign chambers of commerce stating that I was a member and asking for "due consideration" for her application. Without this, I don't think they would have given a twenty-something single Thai female the time of day.
