  1. Normally it is cost effective to SWIFT transfer USD from your US bank to Thai bank for such amounts (as Wise fee increases with the amount sent). Just make sure your US bank does not do the converting to Thai baht.
  2. Are you having issues caused by these cataracts? Suspect may be reason they were found but if not there is normally no need to remove. 1. Pain is in wallet. Actual procedure only takes a few minutes and at most should not be much more than hair in eye feeling. 2. Safest is single vision to correct distance vision - reading glasses are cheap and easy to obtain. 3. Yes. 4. Immediate - you will be using eye next day. But best to do eyes a few weeks apart in case of issues. 5. Nothing - but you will need sunglasses for some time as everything will be much brighter and colors very bright. 6. Most common surgery with excellent success rate. Nothing to fear. But as said make sure you need to remove now (even if this requires another exam elsewhere). Will also provide more cost information.
  3. Suspect they are just mass dialing all numbers by computer - which is why most never connect to actual scammer (busy with someone else). But likely have a record of answered call so have you number for next time.
  4. Was never offered any such option for USD to Thai on web site - although some forms of payment might take longer and/or cost more/less.
  5. Did she dial international access number (0011) - 66 - your 9 digit number? As said +697 is scam calls prefix so likely just happened when you were actually expecting a call.
  6. Got me. Topic list does not indicate where anything is posted. Only "RV renewal" But appears was below 800k when allowed by rules (after 3 months until 2 months prior to next can go to 400k),
  7. I was making gunpowder in grammar school back in 1950 when you had to search the library back shelf books for information and buy from the pharmacy. Kids can do a lot and if you do for real some will likely want to imitate. But from your above it seems your only concern is personal arrest - well I suspect in this months paranoia you could well be the next headline if anything went wrong.
  8. Actually copper theft is not limited to Thailand. It is very common in USA and expect has more to do with need for quick drug money than lack of employment.
  9. Indeed. Find a video to view if you must be teaching bomb making. Sorry do not mean this as a personal attack and expect you mean well - but it just has too many danger points IMHO.
  10. You do not send - they pay from a local Thai baht account - and in Thailand the payment is Thai baht. And you do get the option when sending USD from a US bank account - automatically converted to Thai Baht - not just if sending from a Wise account.
  11. It took longer to scroll down that post than my reading attention span. Will just have to accept not being in the top 10 (why is it always the TOP 10?).
  12. Be aware that medications used elsewhere may not be authorized here - and vis versa. A quick google only shows a local distribution/maker for Asia in 2021 but no information on availability or approval in Thailand.
  13. Wise pays using a local baht account - not with an international transfer. Bank paying is aware that funds are credited from an overseas account and can confirm this - but most transfers will be listed as a local bank payment on destination account passbook unless payment made by Wise account in the same bank.
  14. Perhaps you needed to scroll down a bit? In any case if you use BBL there is an option to have Wise flag you account to use that bank for payment every time. Not guaranteed but have not seen any report of not doing so for those that have accounts flagged. In worse case you can obtain paperwork from local bank paying to prove foreign origin for immigration use.
  15. You can get good reading glasses at Lotus or such for 200 baht or so (test before buy) - also on Lazada if you know what you need (although not much lost if buy several to find out).
  16. Be aware that one eye can mean entirely different procedures/lens so there can be a big difference even at same hospital. Single focus lens (safest choice but probably require reading glasses) can be a lot less expensive than the multi focus lens.
  17. Highly advise mini PC. I use BMax but that comes with Windows installed so perhaps you would be better with another (but get SSD). Many listed on Lazada. Better choice than all-in-one as if you have to travel easy to take and hook up to any TV with just HDMI cable.
  18. That is your answer - they are made for deserts. Or for cooling outside on the pouch.
  19. Or forget the YouTube and do it yourself? As for bars they are private property and cameras are not normally welcome.
  20. Good old Lazada index again - "AC Power Travel Adapter Converter Plug" rather than 90 degree or just plug - travel adapter normally means you plug a different type into it. Good find.
  21. Not a breakfast sausage (but have seen same brand for sale at times) find Itoham brand has a good taste for me (not being British may not be same taste most want).
  22. Ask around with MC drivers - in cities trucks for such rental park on side streets with phone numbers on side. Or if step-son is Thai have him arrange. Most families will have a member with pickup wanting to make a few baht but if not as above - there are people available parked on roadsides that am sure step son could find.
  23. Do not see what you want but a two pin 180 deg plug is available https://www.lazada.co.th/products/2pin-flat-plug-butt-electrical-plug-socket-power-connector-cable-cord-female-male-diy-rewireable-power-plug-15a-125v-i4292325987-s17058285751.html? if you could run ground wire to appliance and less than 15 amps. Otherwise only see the EU 90 deg which is not flat as you want and would require additional ring for ground.
  24. Actually my check for April 1st shows 12800 PHP total for 25sm room so about $230 direct book with hotel. But you could go higher of course. Accommodations are always more expensive than Thailand (not only in PI) and Pattaya is known for low prices due to huge surplus of accommodations and not exactly a high class reputation (working on that) or the cleanest waters.
  25. True but they will not be of top Thai standards or at the price they go for in Pattaya. You will have to pay for top notch accommodations (but it can vary greatly day to day if in city with festivals).
