  1. It's great that they saved these kids. That should be the focus. However, you are right, that is how political leaders do damage control thru media manipulation for sure: create or focus on another situation that pulls the spotlight away from what they don't want dwelled on. Although I don't know how much better this looks for the city.
  2. who cares? or are you buying meth lab materials? But putting your cards into your Thai bank app and Apple wallet are also great back ups and time savers. Apple wallet has been a godsend since my banks cannot seem to be able to ship cards out this way. Do I use my home country cards much here? No. But I do like to have access to them. Now, am I with the governments who are trying to eliminate cash? HE LL NO. That's the end of freedom in my book. But having both options is great. ...or in this case, 4 options: cash, card, app, and card inphone/app
  3. Ok. AFter 40 days I finally have my passport and visa back in my hands. However, She did not attach the 90 day report form. How can I find out officially if she did the reporting or not?
  4. I'd say more like 50% of the time. Just make sure you ask up front so you can calculate it into your monthly expenses ahead of the time. When I first came to thailand I was paying X, then I moved to a double size condo and my electric went down. Made no sense until I learned about this.
  5. Yes. Always ask this before renting. That easily adds 3-4000 in a monthly payment.
  6. I have since been shown a picture of a visa. Claimed Flash did not pick up on Sunday. then 6 more days of silence when asked if it's been mailed daily Yesterday she says it's been mailed. Now silence when I ask for tracking number. Soooo.... I guess you can call this progress. But it cost me a month in new queues at license bureau, a half day or more in travel to get new appointment, and a few thousand baht extra. Add in that this leaves me vulnerable to getting pulled over for the next month with the new, higher fines of 2000 per infraction. I wish I could charge all that to her for her incompetence. (BTW...I overnight mailed her my passport sept 2 for a sept 16 visa renewal date so I would be WAY ahead of my sept 27 appointment). Sometimes you just gotta Wusah in life and shrug it off.
  7. I don't think his handlers let him out to do anything anymore. Like him or not like him and the party... He's not coherent in the head anymore.
  8. Ask the seller . I buy thru the store ALOT on Lazada and they answer questions quickly and their english is very very good so there is never really any issues with comprehension of a question. All you can do is test on your phone for actual speed. Going to matter about your area for how well the carrier does. Where I am DTAC works as sold. But I may be doing some traveling soon. what carriers are know for best total coverage of thailand? (major areas). I'm not heading to any Isaan.
  9. Might have gone from bad to worse in terms of tyranical governments, no? Don't get a Canadian bank account Han!
  10. Daily sunlight on your bare skin is actually extremely healthy for you. You want/need about 20 minutes of your bare skin in the sun daily, best if soaked in midday between hours of 8 and noon to get healthy natural vitamin D production for your body. The sun helps our bodies produce and absorb Vitamin D. Vitamin D is beneficial for your immune system, bone health, and mood. Vitamin D also helps speed up metabolism and increases metabolism. Getting sun in the morning also helps stabilize your circadian rhythm which improves your sleep quality and energy. At night the dark triggers our brains produce melatonin which is needed for sleep and recovery. During the day the sunlight triggers our brains to produce serotonin which is needed for energy and vitality. Getting into the sun in the morning tells our brain that it’s day time and that it’s time to start producing serotonin. The Serotonin produced from sun exposure also helps improve our moods and may even help with mild depression. Studies have also shown that sun exposure improves brain function. Can you get vitamin D through clothes? NO. This is not true, as the only way to trigger the chemical reaction that results in vitamin D production is for sunlight to reach your skin directly. Wearing clothes, or even sunscreen for that matter, blocks the sun's UV rays and limits vitamin D production. 5 Other Benefits The sun's light kills bacteria. Sunlight reduces your blood pressure. ... Limited Sun exposure reduces cancer risk. ... The sun strengthens your bones. ... Sunlight improves your sleep quality. Like all things though. Moderation is the key and not going all George Hamilton and becoming leather face.
  11. Maybe I'm not picturing these parks you mention correctly based on everyone elses opinion. But pools, beaches and parks get a pass by me, especially exercising. Around town no. But, there are unwritten rules... everybody has an expiration date or have let themselves go too far. Have mercy on us. I also see the famous "make my shirt into a belly shirt/bra" by the Thai men. Usually overweight. I don't understand that fashion statement.
  12. private seller always gonna give you a better deal or find a steal than a business who knows exactly the market place and is set to make maximum profit for themselves (which is what they should do).
  13. I honestly notice no difference in Dtac 10 and 20. Where it might come into play is if using TV and another person streaming video on the phone same time. In that case I noticed the 10 gets less quality streams. 10 is on android and 20 on iphone. Honestly, my apple is the worse hotspot product as it always disconnects and doesn't automatically recognize it as being on when I come back to the room where teh android does. Android has the better product feature here in my experience. Even though the android is $100 and my iphone was $1500
  14. Can we get him to pay us extra money? I'm looking and looking. Can't see something yet. Let me get my supervisor, he's better at finding a reason to detain unless you pay an expidited fee...
  15. That is so odd. But that's good news on both fronts about being able to get new visa and stay here.
  16. It won't help which issue? Are you saying the volunteer will block a marriage and a retirement visa application? Also...idk. Even in this thread people are saying after getting new passport not having issues. It may be on record, but I don' t think they are looking at records when stamping visas in the books. But I'm honestly just trying to gather testimonials of it working or not working from people actually doing it.
  17. yes. everyone else saying they having problems getting elite visa or back in because of volunteer. You said you had a problem because of your EDU visa ? is that correct ?
  18. Are they also preventing people from getting marriage or retirement visas if they had a past volunteer or edu visa? or is this strictly stopping people from getting ELITE? Side question: People keep saying "go back to your home country and get a new passport". Is there any reason to just not go to any Embassy of my country and get the new Passport? Trip to cambodia is infinitely cheaper than $1700 roundtrip tickets and lodging in the USA for 6 weeks or whatever the current Turn around time is to get a new one. I would be getting it to clear my volunteer visa (and I'm low on pages anyways) **I did not say go to embassy in Thailand because one of the agents I've talked to said do NOT get the new passport there as it's more likely to cause me issues with new visas. She at first recommended Thailand but her source corrected her and said do NOT go to my embassy in Thailand for new book.
  19. They are also punishing ED visa holders the same way as volunteer visa holders?
  20. I have heard more than a few cases of having trouble getting back in if a volunteer visa is on your passport. for those saying they will always know you had one, even if you get a new passport... Let's be honest, most aren't doing anything beyond flipping thru your book when they stamp you. they are not checking you online. Getting the new passport makes it so you don' t flaunt it in their face. And yes, the fact they are villifying people that got those when the gov PUSHED people to get ONLY a long term visa if they needed to stay near the early stages of the pandemic...this is very harsh. Of course, they then continued with cheap covid visas for 2 years and the volunteer visa buyers who did what the gov told them, and was really only option offered...are being hurt by it.
  21. 1. I have no idea why you wouldn't choose an unlimited data plan monthly when the price is the same. You might find once you have unlimited you'll never understand why you did'nt have it on your phone all this time. 2. If your phone has a 2nd sim card spot, you can keep your old number and plug in the new card for all your data and calls. All incoming calls to your old number will still be free too. 3. If you don't have a second sim card spot, you can now use an Esim with your old number, and you still get everything in #2
  22. probably heavy video streaming time for all people at home during those hours
  23. no contract, good for one year, one time fee of 1400 for 15 mbps. 1650 for 30 mbps
  24. both gf and I have phone in the house. So all good. 4 years and running no problems. What in the world are you downloading in this day and age? If you need that, yes have a designated device in the home (which is what my suggestion was). Know your own needs. NO one but you will know what you need but you. I don't need it. I shared my experience, not recommended it. I also said "alternative", and something that would give him a 2nd device in the home and a choice he can make. I never said better (or worse). It's just different.
  25. another option is you can just consider a cheap Android phone and use it's hotspot. 3000 baht for a samsung. I'm sure there are much cheaper, but then you have an additional phone and useable device in the house as well. I actually just use the SIM from my phone as the hotspot for the house. If I'm not there it's not needed, right?
