    A bit different, but I had a pacemaker implanted a few years back. Hospital gave me an ID card in case any security problems. Sometimes nothing, couple of times pulled aside for a wand search. I think most busy airports are well familiar with an increasing “android” traffic.

    Yes. Much more important than the potential economic impact of the conference would be the awareness and educational aspects.

    An additional twist is that I have gotten requests from people who are already FB friends. This is a “phishing” technique whereby they gain access to your contact information, known as “cloning”. So far it has only been used to try to get me to invest in some scams, but not sure how to eliminate the phony ones vs actual acquaintances. I have tried reporting to FB, but per usual the are singularly unhelpful.

    I recall that sometimes being an option in the US; jail or Army service. The Army eventually put a stop to that due to the “quality” of the recruits.

    British, Americans, Aussies, etc., are notably absent in this story. Probably because they were not involved in wrecking things, whereas a Russian individual was. I suppose the writer could have fallen back on the generic “foreigner”. I see a few erroneous references to a Brit lad in Bangkok. If somebody could get it wrong they evidently will; corollary to “Murphy’s”?

    Read the remarks by the mother in the referenced article. Obvious racism taught at home.

    These “types” are well known for recidivism. They should be permanently confined to an institution, IMO.

    Just my observational opinion, but based on my observations of many friends and some relatives this “addiction” is primarily psychological. That said I do know of two tragic instances where it could honestly have been a gateway to heroin use. Again, a “decision” to try something “more”, but the more is defo addicting.

    I have been prescribed Omeprazole also, but it was not always effective. I think in part because my gall bladder is removed. I happened on an article suggesting sleep on your left side to minimize GERD, due to the configure of our digestive system. Seems to work, though a bit tough to change sleep position after so many years.

    Quite possibly she did not know this. There are surprising gaps in the average Thai’s knowledge about their own country it seems.

    Boringly married to a pretty nifty Thai lady.

    Got off my sick bed after prolonged recovery from a broken pelvis. Had a visit from some neighbor kids wanting to know how “ loong” Bill was. Learned a few things I did not previously know. Saw a few unfamiliar birds. Some might say I’m easily amused. I just like to enjoy every day I am given on this spin of the Wheel.

    I think that people who are easily bored may also be intellectually stunted. I can always find something I have never experienced before.

    Lab grown insulin has kept me going for about thirty years; laboratory meat is not too scary.

    Not every circumstance is foreseeable. Most maintenance “ inspections” are a look-see, not hand checking every nut and bolt in a complex mechanical system. Why they are called “accidents”. Sad for the lady, but at least the airport has accepted responsibility, if not blame. Murphy is exonerated once again.

    Seems to be an at least weekly report of multi million baht scams. Isn’t there some sort of Thai SEC?

    If RTP can come to our house and take photos when we renew my marriage “permission to stay” why in heck couldn’t they send similar for some poor elderly chap who cannot get about? Not entirely rhetorical as I recline on our living room couch with fractured pelvis and contemplate Samut Prakan IO up a narrow staircase, and somewhat Byzantine process accessing the US Embassy in Bangkok.

    No mention of the recent restructuring of exchange limits by the Central Bank. I think that may have a greater impact on long term rates, but I am no financial wiz!

    Problem is US SS no longer admits my existence on line. Guess I have to work through the Philippines Office, which has been helpful in the past.

    I don’t see the health topic listed. My concern is my wife wants to know what she can do if I still live but become too disabled to deal with US Social Security myself in order to keep payments coming. I have survived two strokes reasonably well, but one never knows what is next in the karma menu. Advice on the subject or direction to the proper forum greatly appreciated.
