  1. That's an absurd comparison. Hot girls will have high self-esteem, no matter where they ply their trade.
  2. Do you miss the vibe or the prices? What vibe from 2000 appealed to you that is unavailable today?
  3. Yes, you could have a truckload of shopping delivered if you wanted, but on a 3,000 baht expense budget, you wouldn't be getting a big delivery of anything apart from maybe bottled water. You could stay at home and have anything you want delivered—no need to go anywhere.
  4. The exchange rate is linked to the cost of living, not how many local units you get in different countries. I can live better and cheaper in Thailand than in the Philippines, and the quality of life is better for the same price. I don't know about Vietman - never been interested.
  5. Thirty years is of some significance, considering the Asian Financial Crisis occurred in 1997, 28 years ago. The exchange rate was good before, during and after that for many years.
  6. Nate White provided endless reasons why many people dislike the British.
  7. I now live in an area where I hardly see Farang/tourists on motorcycles, and the way a lot of Thai people ride out here is incredible to behold. It makes your crazy Farang on motorcycles look like amateurs by comparison. Whatever your crazy Farangs are doing, they take it to another level. They have absolutely no fear. The main culprits are young people. Note, I said "a lot of", not all. Many Thai riders drive safely, too, but very few wear helmets.
  8. If you start a thread critisizing another person's emotionaly maturity, your own maturity is going to be under the spotlight. Deal with it or stop starting dumb topics.
  9. This leads me to ask an important question. It's a cat off the street which turned up at our doorstep. What medicines/drugs are necessary?
  10. Thanks! Everyone is talking about this, but I get the "off topic" scolding. You're basically repeating what I said earlier. The best way is to try it first and save having to "start over" in the likely case you will succeed. Starting over is always an available, very inconvenient option.
  11. My GF contacted them - unfortunately, this program has been discontinued.
  12. No, the topic includes a lot of chat about how to go from agent to DIY. There are probably at least 10 or more posts on this already.
  13. I have listed many vets and hospitals from a Google search, which my girlfriend will contact. Rather than going in cold, I'm asking for recommendations from people in Pattaya who may have had the operation done. It's not just a matter of price - I want a good vet, not a butcher LOL.
  14. The GF, because it's better for a Thai person to shop around and easier for her to communicate.
  15. Thank you for your very informative reply.
  16. Well, we already fell in love with an unspayed kitten, so it's too late.
  17. Yes, thanks. I had that one on my list of vets for my girlfriend to check
  18. Exactly as I suggested, the agents will get you extensions with your own banked money at a reduced cost.
  19. It's not complicated. You go to our agent to do your extension, with 800k, which has been in your account for 2 - 3 months, and the following year, you do it yourself. Agents don't charge much to get your extension if you have the 800k in your account, so I would use them even if I have the required banked funds. I'm talking about Pattaya, where immigration "things" are usually smoother.
  20. Does anyone have a recommendation for a vet or pet hospital to spay (sterilise) a 6-month-old kitten? The Pattaya Community Pet Hospital, located on Noen Plubwan Road, quoted around 7,500 baht, while the Thonglor Pet Hospital, on Sukhumvit, quoted a minimum of 14,000 baht. I would appreciate any advice from cat lovers, as I have no experience with cats. We will need to spay 2 cats when we find another, as it's nice for them to have a companion.
  21. Come to think of it, looking for theories other than the OP hasn't showered in a week LOL. His girlfriend could be the problem. How does she present herself? Does she dress and behave like a bargirl? Does she have a superior attitude? There's no way my conservatively dressed girlfriend would let anyone at the hospital or anywhere else treat me like that. LOL, she better not. It's far better for a Thai person to put someone like that in their place than a Farang trying to do it. They have a different way of complaining and scolding than most of us do. They are usually cooler and quieter about it. Unless they are bargirls, they normally don't shout or raise their voices.
  22. It's better than 20 years ago because more English is spoken. I live in an entirely Thai neighbourhood where Farang are quite rare, and all my shopping is pleasant, and all the staff I encounter in 711s (have 7 nearby) and other stores are pleasant. I think the OP has a problem, but not sure what it could be. One battleaxe in a hospital doesn't indicate a general problem. I've found that all the staff at all the hospitals I have visited are pleasant.
  23. Yes, it is, as is Thailand, but we're talking about losing a wad of cash inadvertently left somewhere. That's not dying or being mugged.
