Violent Brawl Between Drunk Australian Tourists Shocks Pattaya
JensenZ replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
LOL... I didn't get as far as watching the video. These "reporters" are the only ones tarnishing the image of Pattaya because, without reports of these (non) events, no one would know or care. They talk about 2 Australians brawling. This is nothing compared to the brawls I've seen back home in Australia. -

It's good to know I'm not the only one who finds these embellished reports hard to bear. Street brawls have now become mainline stories. -

Who writes these ridiculous flowery reports? The excessive use of adjectives and adverbs to dramatize a routine and boring situation is painful to read. Why can't they just write the news? We could write about this in one line. It's a non-event to everyone including the police. The sky will not fall. Pattaya's reputation will not be tarnished LOL -
You could try a small daily dose of Viagra (about 20 mg). It helped me to pee better with the added advantage of improved penile health. Contrary to what many think, even with Viagra you still need to be aroused, so it doesn't increase your desire. You'd need a larger dose when you have performance commitments. On those occasions, you can add 50mg in addition to your daily dose.

Yes, Vance is a major liability for the Democratic Party. What a load of nonsense, focusing on some old videos of when Trump and Melania had a spat. What married couples don't? All the "whataboutisms, deflections, and rationalizations" are coming thick and fast from people like you.

trump folds and agrees to Kamala Harris debate demands,

So what? In the 2016 polls, he was losing by a huge margin. Polls are useless. I'd say your fear that he might win is greater than any fear Trump has of "losing in the polls". -

Speak for yourself, not for the rest of us. Most of your posts are wishful thinking but divorced from reality. -
It doesn't matter what YOU like. No woman will make love to a dirty old man no matter what country they are from. Keep dreaming! For most participants in Thailand, it's the sex industry, so stop using the word "love" unless you're discussing the love of money. "Love-making" disappeared from my reality many years ago, along with my youth. It would seem you're in desperate need of a reality check yourself.

All this chatter about Soi 6 - I had to take a look myself. I went on a barhop there for the first time in maybe 10 years. I had a fantastic time. The place has improved greatly as has the quality and selection of "staff". I highly recommend it. If there were any aggressive bouncers there, I didn't notice them. I will be back, soon!
-
There was a bar on Thappraya Road, which had been closed recently, but the security staff wore black T-shirts with "Bouncer" written on the back, which left no doubt why they were there. If it's bouncers causing all the drama and image reduction, then surely it's an easy fix. Just round them all up, run them out of town and start security training courses for more civilized applicants.
-
I don't see it as a problem, but people getting beat up happens everywhere in areas where people party and get drunk. As both of these beatdowns were from "bouncers" it should be easy to solve. Putting things into perspective, I've lived in Pattaya full-time for 20 years and I don't feel unsafe here. Maybe I've missed a few beatdowns in the news, but it's not a very frequent occurrence, and most I have read about were due to over-enthusiastic security staff. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I feel this latest incident will result in a city-wide cleanup of the security industry.
-
Soi 6 is not where families should be going, but we can't beat up a city because it has areas where tourists should not go. We can make the same case for popular tourist destinations the world over... For example, NYC is a popular family destination, but there are areas no tourists should visit. Paris has a red-light district, where families should not go. Istanbul is one of the most visited cities in the world but has dangerous neighbourhoods. These threads feed the anti-Pattaya trolls, but apart from a few areas which are a bit seedy, it can be a great place to live and visit.

It's not. It's produced from raw milk from Thailand's contented cows. I used to buy raw milk from a cooperative not far from Pattaya, in 5 litre bags.

Thailand unveils new visa rules, sparks mixed reactions
JensenZ replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Why Cambodia? Because it's the nearest border post to Pattaya. I figured that most members here would appreciate Pattaya-centric info. Bangkok is about the same distance. It's false economy to DYI and a 500 km round trip from Pattaya (7 hours). You didn't factor in the wear and tear on your car, and it's going to cost more than 1000 baht on fuel. The most fuel-efficient small cars will cost about 1200 baht on fuel, and that's a small sh*tbox and not very comfortable for a long trip. Fuel: 1200 baht (minimum) up to 2000 baht and more for bigger cars and SUVs. Cambodia visa: 1000 baht. Wear & tear on car: unknown. I'd be saving maybe 1000 baht to DYI (if I had a car, which I don't, and I won't be riding my scooter 500km), then there's the problem of not being able to bounce in and out if you're doing it yourself. You might have to spend a night in Cambodia. You'll probably have to pay an additional fee to bounce in and out as they don't appreciate the DYI visa runners. You'll fill your passport with stickers more quickly too if you do 6 border runs per year. If you're SE Asian, you don't need a Cambodia visa, so you only pay 2500 baht for a visa run to Banpuggard and you won't get a 1-page sticker in your passport. All things considered, a comfortable minivan looks pretty good at 3500 baht, or 2500. I suppose if you enjoy driving or riding 500km through the most boring of landscapes, and that's your idea of fun, then why not? -

Why would "skint expats" be happy about this change? 4 x visa runs are (at cheapest) 14,000 baht (if a Cambodia Visa is required on a border run), plus the 4 extensions for 7,900, for a total of 21,600 and many fun hours in a minivan. Most "skint expats" can get a yearly retirement extension for around 12,500. Sure, it will be good news for people under 50. -
I've received the NZ powdered milk and will give my opinion on its taste once I've opened it. When I first arrived in Thailand nearly 20 years ago, there weren't many brands of whole milk available, but it seems new brands are now popping up quite often. They all have distinct flavours. There are several designer formulations available now too, such as extra creamy, barista, organic and more. Also, there's quite a big choice of lactose-free formulations.

Milk is very close to 1 ml per gram. Actual: 1.04 grams per 1 ml, so 620 grams = 596 ml

Pattaya rebranding as family-friendly destination to boost tourism
JensenZ replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
You don't know what you're talking about. Let's take the Hilton Hotel in Pattaya - without even shopping around and looking for discounts, I can get a room for 2 and a child, with breakfast, for 4000 a night. Between 4000 - 5000 baht, you can have your pick from many 5-star hotels, but there are many brand new 4-star hotels in Pattaya which are as good as 5-star and around 3000 a night. There are also a lot of excellent 3-star Hotels for around 1000 a night. One of the major attractions of Pattaya is the cheap accommodation. I have a friend coming from the US who just booked a great 4-star resort hotel for $75 US a night, all taxes and breakfast for 2 included. -
They couldn't afford to be fat back in the 1970s, but now they can as high-calorie food with lots of sugar is cheaper than nutritious food (per calorie). Men will have to find poorer countries to visit if they like their women skinny. There are a lot of skinny under-nourished Filipinos still getting around in the provinces, but the only problem is when they get to Western countries they fatten up quickly. There are still a lot of skinny Thai women around though, you just have to search a bit harder LOL.

That's good to know. I'll experiment, but I do like my milk thick and creamy. My price was 274 baht shipped. Are you getting it at the shop you mentioned?
-
Thank you! I ordered 1kg - will be interested to taste it. Shipped that works out to 39 baht/L assuming 7L per 1kg powder.

Having spent 5 years in the Philippines before I arrived here, Thailand was like a milk paradise by comparison. The prices of dairy products there are at least double, and pasteurized fresh milk, is probably 3 or 4 times as much (haven't been there for a while). Most of what is sold is UHT milk.
