  1. In march when i went in for my coe for a new license, it was the young thai female volunteer that sits in front on the left side that asked for the 300, I glanced over at the Officer, to the right of her, who knows me and he smiled when i told her it was free. up to you if u want corruption to continue i went in March for my 4th 5 years license an needed to show a med certificate (obtained for 100 baht), have had to get one since my first application
  2. basically he is a fear mongerer, trying to drum up business best to ignore him an his videos BUT even if its correct and it goes to 1.2. Just like when it went from 200,000 to 800,000 all those on 200,000 were grandfathered in
  3. coe is free and issued same day, Just tell the lady, ( u will note its NOT the officer that asks for 300) that its free> 30 minute wait time is average
  4. curious; what is the old beach vibe? goa in the 70's? kamala in late 90's, when the buffalo where walking the beach? songkran, on soi bangla? Koh Phang nga full moon party in the 80's?
  5. so thai's aren't tested before the depart. wonder if those 15 now that have tested positive on arrival were thais or... please those in charge, let us know

  7. HUH? it would be quite easy for a "tourist" to book 1 night in a bangkok hotel ( after a long flight who wants to get in a car an drive 2 hours anyway) and then the next day taxi, bus or train down to Hua Hin> as to post above ; i have found prices in Phuket are lower for the past 18 months than they have been for years before, great deals can be had for accomodations
  8. "Diver" who had the beachfront bar on surin decades ago, now has a bar on the main road in Kamala> plenty of small gh's on the beach in Kamala with restaurants open serving drinks 40,000 for a hotel/GH or apt/house? rooms/month are available for under 8,000 you can easily get a place way under that in Kamala
  9. tourist visa available online https://evisa.gov.kh Fee: USD $30 + $6 processing Fee Validity for use to enter Cambodia: 3 months Period of Stay granted upon arrival: 30 Days Application Processing Time: 3 Days Quarantine: - Must have a pre-booked ASQ hotel to apply (no deposit on arrival) - 7 days if fully vaccinated - 14 days if not fully vaccinated or unvaccinated Must have: - Forte COVID-19 Insurance Policy https://www.forteinsurance.com/covid-19-insurance - Vaccination Card/Certificate if fully vaccinated
  10. so open the country Nov 1st open the bars, clubs Dec 1st? yea, sounds ideal
  11. the longer people pay for it, the longer they will ask for it> STOP feeding corruption!!
  12. never paid< they always say "300 baht" i always say "but its free" they say, "ok, for you free" never wait more than 30 minutes
  13. 30 day visa exempt entry for most western passport holders 60 day tourist visa ( apx $40) from embassy overseas 30 day extension for all 1,900 baht also visa on arrival for those that can not get a vise exempt on arrival, ( indians, chinese etc)
  14. HOW? there are no tourist visas being issued for Cambodia nor have been issued for over a year> only way to get a visa is apply at the Embassy for a business visa which means u need show you have a job waiting for you. Thailand has neve really been shut for tourist, so all those claiming they have been unable to return, just dont want do the quarantine
  15. cannot leave sandbox early. The 7-day quarantine applies only to new arrivals with COE issued with those terms. It’s weird, yes- the people arriving now and this week will leave before those arriving yesterday, but this is the only practical way. Imagine the nightmare if it was applied retroactively.
  16. if ur even thinking of having a stay over, book a double room or else you might find ur charged a "joiner" fee when u take her up to ur room This applies to 3 star and up places, cheap places dont care
  17. Note the dual pricing, ( actually 4 tier pricing) is ONLY at government hospitals. private hospitals i have found the price is same for everyone.. I have no problem with this 4 tier system as well, ( those on retirement extensions are screwed and i doubt many pay tax in Thailand) as tax payers ( yes those on wp's are light less screwed) and the government subsidizes the hospital's for Thai's. Why should they do that for tourists or expats living here? even at the bottom tier, i found that the government Vachira Phuket Hospital or Thalang hospital in Phuket, is usually 50-60% of what phuket Bangkok international charges what i object to is their reasoning to defend it..
  18. brake test, color test video ( unless you watch it and get confirmed you did or do it at a driving school,) up to 1 year med needed i was doing my 5th 5 year license renewal last june
  19. hmmm perhaps you feel safer giving them tons of cash for 20 years, ( not sure i will or even want be around that long ???? ) but i feel safe knowing , even if they do change the 800,000 to 1 mil, 2 mil or the 65 to 80, 100,00,they will grandfather those that stated at 800,000, same as they did when it went from 200,000 to 800,000 ON the other hand, theres always the agent ????
  20. guess that says it all; Thailand only wants old RICH Farangs staying> I'll stick with the old rules ( an use an agent) and renew every year wonder if the agents will be able to get this one for us??
  21. BS: you don't need in insurance if ur getting yearly extensions based on being over 50. For me and every other retired expat i know, the elite is a waste of money> put 800,000 in the bank and than pay ONLY 1,900/year for ur extension!! Than if you wish to travel ( someday we will be able to) the re entry permit is only 3,800 for multiple entries> if ur married you wife can piggy back on ur extension an she does not need put 800,000 in the bank~! The Farang: "Although, in 5 years Thailand is rolling out some new home owner options for foreigners (40yrs max). " you have a working crystal ball??LOL RENT and move around the country for a year< Chiang Mai is perfect for some while many other like Phuket but if thats to busy, there plenty of other beach areas> You can import ur personal goods duty free, I did it from the states ( TWICE LOL) BUT not a car
  22. was 1st there in 1988, when u were only allowed 7 days, Last in 2018> still the best kept secret in SE Asia Burma's economy has never been dependent on tourism unlike Bali, Phuket, Samui, Phang Nga, Siem Reap
