Thai girlfriend working in a bar

Of sanity and serenity in a febrile sea... -
There are two ways of looking at this, either Tucker Carlson is a bold noble cutting edge journalist, seeking to expose the shibboleths of the last 80 years, or he is plumbing the foulest depths of modern history, espousing what is perhaps the biggest of lies, in a desperate attempt to remain "in the ratings"; the sort of filth you wipe of the sole of your shoe after not looking where you are walking! Wasn't it Eisenhower, who when visiting the camps in the last months of the war, ordered film crews in to film every detail, because "eventually some bastards will claim it never happened"! My goodness he was right!

New travel rules: Thailand’s ETA to shake up visa-free visitors

If you say yes there is a supplementary question: did you meet Thammanat Prompao? -
No denial, just a confirmed belief that our electoral system is fundamentally flawed. I have long believed in proportional representation.
-
With a massive, overwhelming, 33.7% of the vote, 411 seats! The Tory's, with 121 seats and 23.7%. Reform got 14.3% of the vote and 5 seats! A funny definition of a landslide, perhaps an indication of an extremely dysfunctional and very unrepresentative electoral system. Incidentally, what has happened to the Liberal Democrats firm championing of electoral reform to achieve proportional representation - haven't heard anything since the election, surely nothing to do with 72 seats, and a vote share smaller than that of Reform (5 seats).

Trump: ‘God Thinks I’m Here to Straighten Out Our Country’
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
There are many questions going unanswered - why did Gods chosen man not spring into action, direct half of his protection team to put down a point of fire on the snipers position, and then lead the rest in a quick left flanking assault on the sniper? Maybe his bone spurs were troubling him - after all, taking cover is for losers! -
France Calls for Migrants to Claim UK Asylum from Within the EU
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
An asylum seeker attempting to enter the UK will have travelled through half a dozen EU countries, in all of which they can claim asylum, through all of which they are travelling illegally. It is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the EU is facilitating the transit of illegal immigrants who wish to enter the UK for economic reasons, which makes "smashing the gangs" an empty slogan. The £478 million we are paying France ( like Danegeld they are now demanding more) could better be spent on chasing down and prosecuting the employers of illegal immigrants within the UK. Car wash centres and takeaway delivery moped operations are just a starting point, the visible bit if you like. -

Major bribery ring in highways department uncovered

Certainly, a clear misunderstanding! -
It does seem that any view which deviates from your proscribed track is "Whataboutery", perhaps even if the deviation is particularly egregious, or the point made slightly more telling, " completely off topic whataboutery". You seem to have adopted the concept as your "go to reaction" to any challenge of the truth as laid down by the "Blessed Keir". When a point questions a relevant fact, which impinges on both sides of an argument, then "what about..." is an entirely valid point to make, and dismissing it as irrelevant, as "whataboutery " is both arrogant and displays a refusal to consider arguments. What about that then?

Well I suppose we could send them more money to fund their utterly ineffective attempts to prevent the embarkations. It surely cannot be beyond the wit of anyone, even the French, to prevent or control the purchase and movement of these big inflatables and their large outboard engines. They are large difficult to conceal bits of kit, hardly the little dinghies you buy at a petrol station en route to a day at the seaside!

Thai Department Warns Tourists Against Buying Fake Driving Licences
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not difficult per se, but perhaps unfortunate, since those selling licenses are likely senior members of the department, or at least connected to members of the department. -
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth made it very clear that a "six months in UK, six months in California split" was out of the question. I doubt very much whether The King will change that, especially after what he (Harry) has said and published about his wife Queen Camilla. The Prince of Wales is absolutely implacably opposed to his return for similar reasons. Harry burnt his bridges very publicly and very deliberately. The debris and ashes have long since floated away. He is where he deliberately put himself, on the far bank. As for his friends and aides, well I am sure that someone will pick him up from the airport, and maybe let him sleep on their couch for a few weeks, but any influence they may have had rather evaporated when he began his antics. It is a hard truth, but his family don't want him, and the British people don't want him; it now looks rather like America, and his wife, don't particularly want him either. A right Royal mess, entirely of his own making. His family have wiped their shoes and moved on.

Have you considering acquiring the services of a couple of native chappies, to trot around carrying your messages in forked sticks? Alternatively pop round to your local Big C, there will be any number of stalls invariably manned by attractive young ladies selling basic cellphones for around B1000. Ask the lass to put your SIM in it, and install line for you. Log in to line as normal, and Robert is you father's brother!

I don't think they are clueless. The ideology which drives them is independent of, totally separate from, any ideology within the rest of the world. This disconnect is what makes them so indiscriminate. A classical concert in Moscow, Taylor Swift concerts, the attacks in Paris, Manchester - no cohesive policy apart from terror.
