Ah, but there are times, and certain "contexts", (a word which has of late rather assumed a different meaning") when I do agree with some of your views. Life is not always black and white, right or wrong, even right or left. I do tend to ignore some things, for example your perpetual spats with @JonnyF

Reported elsewhere on the forum, man who bombarded Farage with materials from a building site during the general election campaign receives a suspended sentence. Now I wonder how many months in chokey he would have received if he had thrown materials from a building site at a mosque, for example, and how quickly the police and judicial system would have moved! By the way, any news on the Manchester Airport pair, or the knife wielding motorcycle gangs in Birmingham?

British yoga teacher stranded in Bangkok airport over passport tear

What's more we are miserable old men! She travelled - how dare she! She studied Yoga and gained a qualification - admittedly not my idea of fun but a perfectly acceptable thing to do, one that could perhaps have led to a career in the UK She spent some time in Thailand, and continued with her Yoga and did some voluntary work, how disgustingly altruistic! She booked a return ticket on an airline which offers cheap travel, and has now been refused travel on that airline for a particularly Mickey Mouse, footling reason. Her sister has raised the funds to get her home. No one has asked you for any money. If I had been aware of her situation I would probably have sent a tenner! As you may have gathered, sometimes people really "light me up!" -

I fairly recently discovered Dante's long lost 10th circle of Hell - the transit procedure at Mumbai airport! The final "icing on a cake" was when I drained a glass of beer in the bar at the transit lounge and saw the state of the bottom of the glass - sure enough two hours later Gandhi's revenge set in! -
Paetongtarn's Leadership Under Scrutiny Amid Ethics Allegations

If she is eased out of power, whether by courts or military intervention, that should constitute the final blow to Thailands already battered international political reputation. -
I suspect the lack of interest is because however it ends, it will leave the situation regionally effectively unchanged. Either a vicious dictatorship squatting amongst the debris of a ruined country, or a victorious but highly fragmented rebel movement grappling with rebuilding from the debris of a ruined country.

Deflection? You start out by asking why Biden did not raise Supreme Court reform. I pointed to where you could find the speech he made a month ago on the subject; a couple of posts later you are burbling incoherently about Zuckerberg, Hunter Biden's legendary laptop, the Russians, the CIA and the FBI! I don't know about deflection, but perhaps your posts would make more sense if you paused, collected your thoughts and wiped the mouth froth from the keyboard before rejoining us?

I suppose that is the trouble with having an elderly man in the White House. Remind me again, just how old is "I took a bullet for democracy Trump"? I saw a picture of one of those playing card thingies he is hawking, dressed as Captain America, he looked about 27, but you know I think it may have been photoshopped!

29th of July was exactly one month ago. I suppose that it is possible that it may have escaped your notice that the US is currently engrossed in a run up to a general election. Not only will the Presidency and Vice Presidency be decided at this election which will in turn decide who will initiate such reform, but also the make up of the House of Representatives and the Senate, who will enact any such reforms.

Pheu Thai Party says no Cabinet seats for Palang Pracharath MPs
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes it is my opinion - I suppose the proof will be in the pudding if that is an appropriate allegory? Funny thing though, this forum is essentially a vehicle for discussion, which oddly enough usually involves proffering opinions. So yes it is my opinion, I may be wrong but I think I am probably right; demands for proof? Sorry, the dog ate my homework! -

Little fatty's power was determined by the influence he wielded over the regular promotions/to job reshuffles in the army. If that has gone he is now little more than a reliable chap to ask the time! -

Perhaps when you have collected a full set you will be able to buy a display frame to mount them in - a future decoration for a cell wall perhaps? The whole conduct of the Trump campaign is really quite bizarre! Harris announces plans to make home ownership more achievable for working people, and curbs on exploitative and excessive rents in urban areas, Trump announces a new range of digital cards featuring himself in Superman costume! I understand that they may be going for the "weird vote", but really...

I wonder if it is possible to calculate to what extent the hot air issuing from this little fat Portuguese socialist functionary is adding to global warming? -

China's problem is a huge manufacturing base, which has been largely created with state money, and is certainly under state direction. Their own consumers cannot provide enough demand to keep that industrial base working yet their working people need the jobs (and wages) which it provides. The Chinese government needs China to be the manufacturer to the world, otherwise their economy will fail, rather as their property market has failed. If the economy fails then the society, which the government has created and so painstakingly controls will also fail. The only way that China can be the manufacturer the world is if their government is prepared to subsidise trading. Part of that process is bringing under their control the domestic manufacturing and markets of adjacent and strategically located countries. Western Europe did it two centuries ago. Eventually it rather fell apart. China is doing exactly the same thing now, except (largely) reliant on economic rather than military forces. Colonialism by debt! Ask Sri Lanka, Pakistan ( their government doesn't care, they seem their country rather as an army with a country attached), large swathes of Africa and parts of South America. -

Bit of a choker when all's said and done - chap in our village wanted the spondoolicks to pay for a big wedding with his boyfriend, with spliffs all round to celebrate!
