  1. It's not a crime unless a Thai court convicts. Precedent already been set with Thammanat.
  2. That's one scheme for sure. A lot of the higher end luxury and supercars are stolen from the UK then imported as legit, with the aid of corrupt customs officials. Been going on for years.
  3. It starts with the culture of money worship unfortunately. Gold idols, gilded temples, praying for money... etc.
  4. There is only one way it will evolve and that is through education.
  5. The government worked out a long time ago there's plenty of foreigners who will happily spend their money to help Thailand's poor so they don't have to.
  6. Just the other day there was some ???? on another thread saying prisoners in Thai jails don't get special treatment etc. ????
  7. Exactly, it serves to enrich a few at the top of the pyramid. It's a boondoggle like everything else here; the Elite Card scheme is another. This airline is in THB600billion in debt and they are still trying to keep it going. Just think about that for a minute.
  8. You don't really care because labour is cheap, reasonably skilled and tax breaks for companies investing in Thailand are pretty good. Your foreign managers will not care either, as they will have packages that include comprehensive health care and local cover as they will be paying social., plus loads of bars to enjoy the demimondaines and get away from the trouble and strife.
  9. I just racechipped my 2021 A200 AMG Dynamic. Now pushing close to 200bhp on the dyno. Next mod Brabus exhaust with the carbon tips. I was looking at the AMG C43 too but opted for a new A-class instead after being won over by the interior and the fact it was 2m cheaper. I was looking at a CLS 300d too.
  10. After he and Purachai brought in the 2am closing which I think happened in 2001 iirc. Then there were the continuing raids on non-Police owned venues throughout the country in particular Bangkok, where venues deemed immoral were arbitrarily shut down. They had the pee-test bus rock up and test all the ladies, occasionally if they didn't like the look of you they may make a foreigner take a test too. Things certainly changed for the worse under Thaksin from the glory 'anything goes' days of the 90's and before.
  11. Aww, those poor, rich Thai kids not being able to get to England more easily to continue their privileged lifestyles. Truly heartbreaking.
  12. Those days are months off and indeed may never return. Flew down to Had Yai last week and minimum mandatory vaccinations are required to get on the plane. Soldiers were checking that passengers have completed the necessary online forms before being allowed to enter the arrivals area.
  13. Invaded and conquered a lot of what is now England back in the day.
  14. We are in Thailand, a country that still requires penny whistles and cymbal crashes to amplify slapstick comedy. Thais respect military strongmen. Do not be surprised if this mob gets chosen at the ballot box again, although I'm inclined to think a Thaksin party landslide may again be on the cards, followed by another coup due to attempts to bring him and his sister back.
  15. I ride big bikes and there's no way Thais are competent or responsible enough to be allowed on highways on them. You are not suggesting scooters and mopeds should be allowed are you? Risible.
