  1. He was born in Thailand and holds Thai nationality. Not Thai ethnicity certainly.
  2. At least she bucked the national trend of doing a runner.
  3. As with absolutely everything in this country, taken with a pinch of salt.
  4. Unlucky. Now he will have to pay the cops and the couple he abused. These pickup drivers are a constant nuisance throughout the country.
  5. I hope he enjoys riz brun avec soupe de tête de poisson for breakfast.
  6. I came here for the temples. But being rich and a hansum man, the local women naturally flock to me.
  7. That didn't cause her to crash. Might have been a contributing factor, but it is not the root cause.
  8. This is the story: https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/crime-crime/2016/09/28/the-americans-head-forgery-ring-suspect-ran-from-fbi/ Being a Bangkok old hand this is not the only character I have known throughout the years either!
  9. I met a guy in Patpong that kept alluding to being a spook, although he claimed he was English. Throughout the years I bumped into him now and again in bars until he started drinking regularly down Soi 22. He was arrested for having a chopped up body in his freezer and shot a policeman when they raided his business in Thong Lor. Turns out he was on the run from the FBI for 40 years and was running a passport forgery business as well as other criminal activities! Sometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction.
  10. I got my veterans card a few months ago. You can get one if you still have a UK address.
  11. Hard to keep it a secret at the British Legion and other events like at the British Embassy, Hellfire Pass or Remembrance Sunday at the British Club etc. 😉
  12. I have several good mates living in Pattaya who are genuinely ex-UKSF. One is ex SAS 22, one ex-SAS 23 and another former SBS. All bona fide as I have seen their credentials when attending Remembrance Sundays, etc. When I lived in Bangkok I drank with a mountain of an SBS guy and knew various others. All genuine. The bar I drank in on Soi 22 was all ex-UKSF and had the winged dagger on the wall IFYKYK.
  13. Budget travel has a lot to answer for. In Pattaya, Soi Buakow and surrounds is full of them. Hopefully “climate change” hikes air ticket prices beyond affordability for these undesirable oiks.
  14. Drinking with mentally unstable Thais is always going to be a risky business. RIP to the victim.
  15. Sounds like the nephew wasn't wearing a seatbelt and the toddler was not in a proper seat.
  16. So not based on statistics and actual events then? 🤔
