  1. He hasn't been dismissed from the force
  2. Ours went off last night for about 2 hours, first time this year. Last year we had no power outages whatsoever which was incredible. I think solar panels and batteries are my next big purchase
  3. They forget to say that the larger the room volume the more it will cost to cool. I have divided both our bedrooms Scandinavian style with glass wall dividers and a sliding door, so that one half holds the bed only and the other half holds the wardrobes etc. i.e. a dressing room and small sitting room. Therefore a much smaller volume to cool at night and during the day in the dressing/sitting room but still have the sensation of relative spaciousness. Each original bedroom was L6m x W3m x H3m. Our living room is huge and costs a fortune to cool during the day. Hence looking at getting solar panels for use during the day
  4. No big deal. It's standard practice if someone doesn't work there. He was initially transferred to the prime minister's office. It takes time to get action done via the convoluted bureaucracy the order to remove the was probably made weeks ago.
  5. A highly secretive organisation using it's requirements for secrecy to hide misdemeanours and abuse selected staff for the pleasure of senior staff. Sounds about right.
  6. I am a former registered nurse. I worked in the operating room in the UK. Basically there is no need to wear a mask in the OR so the male dominated theatre technicians stopped wearing them. Yet the female dominated Nursing staff insisted on keeping them. The reason being that even the plainest woman looks sexy when only her eyes are visible. My female colleagues paid great attention to using eye makeup which enhanced this feature
  7. Yes you will be penalised if you have not made your 90 day report at the correct time. You will be fined for each day you stayed beyond the date you were supposed to make your 90 day report ie. Until you leave
  8. I had a similar problem water main burst in the village all the water from my tank drained into the village system even though the stop cock was closed. Faulty stop cock which wasn't a apparent when the village water supply was at normal pressure
  9. 300 baht is peanuts tourists and potential tourists won't even notice it. This is a roundabout way of raising money for government coffers. That's fine if it goes into improving the infrastructure, but I seriously doubt it. It will probably be used to fund bonuses and pay rises for civil servants
  10. He's a troll winding you up. It's obvious to anyone with a brain cell that you were not being racist but merely pointing out the rarity of black african people in nordic countries, which is a fact.
  11. True, I was trying to be sarcastically funny which obviously failed. Another point to note is that the body will not rehydrate until the alcohol is excreted so drinking copious amounts of water immediately after you have dehydrated from alcohol has no effect for at least 4 hours
  12. Still no excuse to try and grab a 7 year old child. It's a tradition of many years and is promoted worldwide. I spent 2 very happy days with my nieces and nephews throwing water and having water thrown back from complete strangers. He knew what he was letting himself in for when he decided to come to Thailand in the hottest months of the year during Songkran in my province it is very much for children.
  13. Perhaps it is global warming but it is a natural phenomenon. The earths climate fluctuates between ice ages and extreme heat with 'moderate' temperature in between over periods of millions of years. In Victorian times is was so cold that the Thames froze.
  14. Headache, cramps and constipation are the result of dehydration. Drink plenty of water/fluids and stay hydrated. The many drinkers of Pattaya who drink copious amounts of beer shouldn't have a problem there.
  15. The water thrower was a 7 year old boy. I doubt whether it was a 'soaking'. The tourist must have been aware of the time of year and what happens just an ignorant pig.
  16. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ Very good, a rambling post with no point whatsoever
  17. True. It's a cultural trait of extreme activists trying to destabilise current western society. They practice racism, misogyny and extreme discrimination themselves but try to hide it by creating a smokescreen of accusations of the same against those they want to dominate
  18. Not het up, not racist just making a reasonable observation. You shouldn't post your Far Eastern racist anti British propaganda in a forum where at least one of the members (me) has a qualification in semantic logic. Your language is the product of an education using terminology only used by China, Russia and their totalitarian associates.
  19. Which part of China (or perhaps Russia?) are you from? British imperialist? Your language is giving you away. Nobody in the west speaks like that anymore, only pundits from the communist and former communist states
  20. I agree. The main culprits for inaccessible steps seem to be the chain convenience stores like 7-11 or little C also many pharmacies
  21. Sorry I meant that the disabled are even more badly catered for than normal pedestrians. Steps everywhere but no handrails for people like me who walk with crutches and can negotiate steps as long as there is a handrail to hang on to. Ramps for wheelchairs are too steep almost impossible for someone in an unpowered chair to get up extremely difficult for anyone pushing. An expectation that disabled people have 'carers' and are not independent. Thai workmen coming to my house talk to my wife not me etc.
  22. Travelling here is now very expensive UK tourists tend to go to cheaper destinations. Recent horror stories about ill maintained travelators and monorails (which were published around the world) don't help. Tourists walk and gawk, yet pedestrians are the worst catered for group in Thailand apart from the disabled. The sidewalks are atrocious and difficult to navigate and crossing the road is extremely dangerous, even if the crossing is light controlled. It is not family friendly children are in constant danger of being hit by motorbikes on the sidewalk. Many of those UK expats settling in Thailand were retired, often living on the UK state pension. They visited Thailand previously on a dream holiday and decided to retire here because they could live better. The UK state pension is the lowest in Europe. Thailand looks at the relative wealth of expats from other countries and targets it's charges accordingly. Thailand is simply pricing itself out of the UK market by making it very expensive to live here (visa requirements, tax etc) for uk expats
