Fair enough...as long as these people that don't pay taxes don't drive on any (badly constructed or not) public roads, use any government hospitals, turn on their taps etc. etc.

That's great. I can urinate with more pressure than comes out of most local tap water supplies.

  2. Why any citizen or expat in Thailand thinks "Paying Taxes" is something noble, is beyond me.

90% gets wasted on the bureaucrats collecting it.

5% goes into local mayors' & cops's pockets, & 5% might just maybe get spent for the good of the sheeple. Someday, maybe.

    As for roads...

Prayut also witnessed the signing of cooperation contracts between universities and companies interested in 12 technological innovations.

    Bwahahahaha!

Good luck folks. This story is just too rich!

How about if they turned their attention to producing decent (already invented) products, and decent customer service, quit selling college degrees, learn a new language or two (I speak English & the basics of 3 others)  etc, etc...

Nah. Let's have all the crooks turn into Einstein & Edison, and pay them 5,000 baht a month.

    Thailand innovation.

Explain now what the difference between murdering a 'healthy' man, a 'disabled' man, an 'elderly' man or maybe some 'black' or 'jewish' man?

Assault on the elderly & disabled ranks right in there with children as they are defenseless and it makes the crime especially heinous.

I never said a word about race.

Also I was referring to assault, not murder.

I don't like this 'disabled' and 'cripple' tag being weilded. It's a bit like someone getting hit and we must reveal the victim is a woman before we can gain any special sympathy.

They are humans. Three men decided to attack another. The other tried some defence, obviously without the necessary ability to succeed, and was murdered. The whole mob are equally guilty.

I think the worst part of the story is my idea that it's apparently unfortunate that the police connections have been publicised. Obviously this story means that the rather insignificant breadman murder is not allowed to be swept under the carpet.

More to the point it highlights the likelihood that for any one case you read about here, there could well be another 5 cases successfully buried. Justice needs to extend beyond the obvious culprits here... Perverting the course of justice is the more worrying crime.

Some countries do have special sentences for attacking (err... killing in the case) a disabled or elderly person.

Not sure if that's the case in Thailand, but if so, would make it relevant.

How can there be no eyewitnesses and then they claim the truck was travelling at speed and overturned? Did this truck not have a driver? Would not this driver be an eyewitness?

Looks to me like the driver is squished under the truck in that (not too high quality) picture?

I have a work permit and pay more then 40.000 per month on tax for my company and i not drive a Mercedes convertible, so why shouldn't he pay taxes of money earned in Thailand ?

Never said the guy should not pay taxes. I said AVOID (not evade) taxes.

My point is that most all taxpayer money is wasted by civil servants who are bored to tears & show it when you need something from them.

I appreciate a steady water supply, garbage removal, and decent roads, which are local taxes.

If I NEED a cop, I appreciate them taking an interest in what they are doing/what I need, before I have to pay them.

Sadly, most all of the above is intermittent in Thailand.

Paying a portion of MY money to corrupt (at every level) Thai "Officials" is ludicrous.

Real question is " what has this guy achieved in 3 years of virtually complete freedom to do what he wants"? Answer "nothing, other than remove demonstrators from streets and pass a form of marshal law !

People all over the world think that the socialism/communism model is viable.

The precious few of us that don't think that Yingluck's rice scheme, or Obamacare were good ideas, have to just realize that we can only laugh at the world's masses & prepare ourselves for the next populist gov't (where ever we may be), that promises utopia by robbing the rich to feed the bums.

    See - Bread and circuses.

Sadly, I cannot see Thailand deserving anything other than a junta.

I wish it was different. I wish they were like the Roman, Persian, Spanish, British, American etc world powers once were.

Thailand cannot seem to find its buttocks with both hands though.

The usual over the top responses from the usual suspects. The guy has found the perfect way to make money in Thailand and to stay legit. He has hurt nor injured anyone other than a few moral compasses which are spinning out of control trying to find North.

Heaven FORBID that you have any success in Thailand.

    While I agree that he's a <deleted>'er, I have nothing against him.

Just an idiot kid is all.....And weren't we all at some point?

It's ok to be a Brit, just accept it and life will be better ?

I was born in Orlando. I 'want' to look at Ancestry.com & sign up and all that, but I'm terrified I'll be British.

I have a younger half brother who fell off the deep end with a British gal.

Last time I spoke with him his Florida accent had changed. He lives in Liverpool now.
