  1. There are plenty of burgundy passport covers available for people who have the blue passport. I'm sure the reverse will be true when we change back.
  2. No, I don't think anybody voting in 2024 is going to start a sentence like that. (also, my bet is on a January 2025 election now)
  3. I think you over estimate Sunak
  4. I'm sorry Mr Jones, but I was asked a specific question and I gave an answer to that question. While I'm sure you enjoyed your little rant, it doesn't even reference, or even counter the argument I made. However you have made me realise that there was a slight over-simplification in my reply to @BritManToo, so I will reword it: You should vote for whichever non-Tory candidate has the best chance of winning in your constituency, in order to aid Labour forming the next government. Because of the two genuine options, Labour is the only one that may eventually lead to proportional representation being implemented. Once PR is in place, you would then be able to vote for a candidate who better aligns with your views. Change takes time. You probably won't be around to see what you want happen (assuming those are serious desires) being implemented. But if you genuinely want those things to happen for future generations, then vote Labour. To get society to the left, first you need to bring them back through the centre. (Edit: bold text has nothing to do with me)
  5. They've been pretty useless for the last 13 years. For the last two they've been a trainwreck. If they keep on going the way they are, Labour will not only destroy them, there's even a (albeit I will admit very small) chance they won't even make the position of official opposition. Labour are telling the voters what they want to hear, all the while the Tories are trying to tell voters what they should be caring about. Culture wars don't work when you're in power; saying "look how shot everything is and it's all the fault of [xyz]" just doesn't work when you've had 13 years to deal with whatever green-eyed-monster you're trying to demonize.
  6. Is that the only route you see to the Tories retaining their seats? Relying on Labour to trip up, rather than expecting the Conservatives to actually do something useful?
  7. No, not outside of no10. You do it here. I didn't say that there is currently no costs involved. I said if it's done correctly there need be no cost involved. Of course the current muppets in charge aren't doing it correctly! Do you seriously think there's not enough money floating around in the UK to pay for this? Once there is a competent government in charge who won't be shy of, for example, levying windfall taxes on oil firms who are currently doing their ScroogeMcDuck impressions, swimming in thier ill gotten gains made from war profiteering, or making companies like Amazon and Starbucks actually pay their fair share, the treasury will be in a far better position to cover the costs.
  8. Sometimes a break up is difficult for both sides. Sometimes life gets in the way and leaves two people in a position where there is just no way forward. Of course, we're brought up to believe that love can conquer everything. But, just as with most things we're brought up to believe, that's total horse carp.
  9. Yes, a few. One of which will haunt me to the end of my days. Not marrying a girl, however is not a valid way to break a heart. Unless you mean duming a girl at the same time as not marrying her?
  10. I was going to ask you out on a date, Bob.
  11. First: You're adding in conditionals - there is no personal cost to net zero when done correctly so that is irrelevant. Secondly I suggested you were a tory supporter and not a tory voter. So don't try and pull that one. And, before you try and make another ridiculous attempt at a clever response, I mean supporter of their policies, not any kind of financial supporter.
  12. Nothing. Go for a beer, Bob. I'm done engaging.
  13. If you want your last two threads to be taken seriously considering your posting history then, yes, you do need to explain yourself. That's your bed. You made it.
  14. I was wondering which of the 3 categories of remaining Tory supporters you belonged to. Now I know: the deluded.
  15. @bob smith Why do you have direct messages disabled... ?????
  16. More precisely, they voted for the content of the Conservative party manifesto, which contained a commitment to net zero. If he wants to change that manifesto he is required to hold a general election and get a new mandate. In the interest of balance, however, I can't tell from the content of the OP whether Sunak is talking about cutting commitments now, or as part of his election campaign.
  17. One can lead to the other
  18. Must be pretty dull movies. No wonder I never saw them...
  19. If you really want a beer after your breakfast, you could try to find a cafe that has alcohol free beer in stock. I admit this may be no easy task, but often times when I've just really fancied a beer, I've had a Heineken Zero. It still gives me that "ahhh" chill feeling, quenches the thirst, and gives me that "having a beer at the perfect moment" feeling, but it doesn't make me immediately want another one, like real beer does.
  20. Which one?
  21. And I can guarantee that you will continue to do so as this thred progresses. Don't tell anyone and/or don't make any enemies and you'll be fine. The jury is out on whether you'll be 100% legit. But you'll be fine.
  22. A couple of beers to last from breakfast to sun down is not even remotely realistic. Why not skip the regular cafe, which has all those mental associations with beer, and get on your bike and ride to a neighbouring city that you've never been to? Find a new cafe, make new associations. Follow your breakfast with a fruit shake and walk along the beach. Then ride your motorbike back home and spend the evening watching movies, at the gym, or banging your wife...
  23. Thanks. I have now corrected the mistake.
  24. Exempt from stamping? How will you know how long they've been in the country? If they mean "stamped in under the visa exemption scheme", how does that make them a "special case"? Top reporting as ever.
  25. I didn't suggest it was harmful. I don't know enough on the subject. I said it was probably less harmful than alcohol. If it is not harmful at all then it is, by definition, less harmful than alcohol...
