The baffling 27 years of Richard Burrows, aka. ‘Peter Smith’
foreverlomsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
I left UK at 48 with enough contributions to be able to obtain my full State Pension, wasn't my fault they changed the scheme criteria on me -
I thought they were no longer allowed to use names which implied they were superior to anybody else

Good question and if so which NI number was he using for DWP Peter Smith or Richard Burrows, did he ever have to do "Proof of Life" certificates, and were HMRC taxing his private pensions if any (or at least assessing him for tax). If my brain was younger I could probably think of quite a few more areas with question marks, the system does appear to have failed in his account. -
Chinese influencer’s food poisoning sparks Thai food hygiene row

Better still stay at home and eat risky Chinese food, than come to Thailand to eat risky Thai food and then complain that the food HE chose gave him problems. -
Retirement 800k rules
foreverlomsak replied to mja1906's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Rightly or wrongly I count it from the extension expiry date, in my case 29 April, so therefore 29 May (30 days), 29 June (31 Days), 29 July (30 days) so total of 91 days, in case months are being counted as 31 days each it's safe to move on August 1, by doing so I had no issue with my local office 3 days ago for my annual extension. I personally think it should be from the approval date not from the expiry date, but is it worth the potential problem next year for a few days this year. -
End of work permit options
foreverlomsak replied to 2long's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Poster asked what is options were, so I gave him an answer that avoided the need to leave the country to get a fresh visa. -
It was normal for mine with Viraya Insurance, went to office every year to pay and every year they took photos of the car

You have to leave when your employment ends. Nope, when my contract terminated, with the schools help I got my WP cancelled, and then applied same day for a "Retirement" extension. Did not need to leave the country, and have now had 5 subsequent retirement extensions without leaving. -
700+ foreigners caught working Thai-only jobs
foreverlomsak replied to george's topic in Thailand News
For the same reason they are not required to show money in bank or foreign income every year to Immigration. Fallang husbands can work provided they are actually married and can get a work permit. -
I used to buy it in my local Makro (only place locally I could find) until I got a really bad bottle (other 11 were OK), checked the date on the box it came from 7 months from production date, 2 boxes lasts me about a week so not kept, checked the stack in Makro when time too replace my stock, not one box was marked less than 10 months old.

If you are resident here (i.e. Wise only have a Thai address for you) you cannot get one, I've been requesting one periodically for a couple of years. -

Maybe they do not class themselves as road users therefore traffic rules don't apply to them. Had this argument with a cyclist in the UK that nearly hit me because he didn't stop for the red light at a pedestrian crossing, he argued that he was not a road user but was a pedestrian on wheels therefore the red light didn't apply to him. -
That doesn't bother me too much, it's the method of restocking that I don't like, a lot of them put the new stock in front of (or on top) the old, and it's not limited to supermarkets either, when I bought some boxes of beer in my local wholesaler the front stacks were all dated within 1 month, the stacks behind were over 6 months old, didn't like it when I insisted that I was supplied from the front stacks only.

No, they blame who has potentially the most money to pay for everything, i.e. the foreigner. I remember a story of a foreigner in a hire car who got t-boned by an unlit & un-insured farm truck who came out of a side turn in the dark, it was determined by the BIB that as the farm truck driver had no money the hire company should pay for everything. -
