  1. What year was that, my history in Thailand goes back roughly 20 years and I don't remember in an increase in that period. And yes I do expect the 800k/year and the 65k/month to increase significantly at some point in the near future (along with the 1,900 Baht extension fee - forget what increase the agents will apply if that happens, as I don't use them) Found the date in later quotes/replies after the above request - apologies
  2. To achieve a tax bill of 71,000 the retiree would need 780,000 of assessable income, on top of the "Thai Allowances & Deductions", which for a single pensioner I estimate to be in the order of 350,000
  3. As far as I understand the filing must be made within a three month window ending on 31st March.
  4. B7 is not the standard diesel fuel it is 7% Bio-Diesel. "Diesel" is the bog standard diesel fuel. B10 would be 10% Bio-Diesel and therefore should be cheaper than B7.
  5. Any vehicle bought in Thailand and shipped to Europe will probably run foul of the regulations regarding exhaust emissions, build standard, etc., and would therefore not be able to be registered and will possibly usable in it's destination country. Suggest you explore that end of the process first to see if it would be acceptable. I remember somebody who shipped a 3 wheeler tuk-tuk home, and was told on it's arrival that it could not be registered to use on the public roads.
  6. What has paying or not paying taxes in Thailand got to do with the fees charged by WISE?
  7. Correct they are not licensed to issue cards in Thailand, you can get one in your home country provided you've an address to send it to.
  8. There's also one from the northern bus terminal at Mohr Chit, or at least used to be pre-COVID
  9. She left her estate to her Thai maid, and panic has set in. Wonder what would have happed if she'd left it to a foreign national who doesn't reside here.
  10. A group of Chinese tourists.......tourism revival.......Non ED Visa allows tourists. Funny I always thought when on an ED Visa you need to participate in an "Education" activity not act as tourists. What's next a Non-Imm "B" tourist visa to allow them to work as tour guides.
  11. English call car trunks boots, does that mean we are going to see elephants in wellies (wellington boots to the less informed)
  12. Only meaningful if the numbers are based on a standard criteria like population size.
  13. Like asking how long is a piece of string, depends on current income, allowances and deductions, how much is to be received (is it a Gift or salary from abroad) to name but a few of the items that will effect the treatment.
  14. Change the date of your trip to Savannakhet, so that it's before 10 May. Overstay with no consequences - basically it doesn't happen anymore.
  15. Then send her to Rwanda, so she can see what real economic migrants look like
  16. So a set of conversations/selections relating to a funds transfer could become UK Bank - Why are you sending the money to WISE Me - For them to send to Thailand for my annual VISA extension WISE - Select reason for forwarding the money Me - For my annual VISA extension (I forget actual title of selection) Thai Bank (2 working days later) - Why have you remitted the money to us Me - For my annual VISA extension Thai Bank (2 working days later) - Dear Bank of Thailand, our customer XYZ has remitted money to us from abroad, he says it's for his annual VISA extension, can we pay him, he is registered for tax purposes. BoT (2 working days later) - OK Thai Bank (2 working days later) - We have now credited your account Me (After starting the process 2 weeks before) - Hoo FN Ray It's nearly there now.
  17. perfectly true, I objected to the wife but was told that's how it's done in Thailand, in a tone that said mind your own business.
  18. presumably bars with free air-con
  19. The builders that installed the wooden shutters into the window frames in my kitchen extension, along with hinges, handles, locking bolts, etc. used a hammer to insert the screws, what a bugger to unscrew if you need to replace a shutter. Maybe they found a screwdriver and were discussing what it was used for.
  20. Hope he remembered to include his watch collection this time.
  21. You're telling me, I was fined many years ago by the Highway Police for doing so, made to overload the cabin by squeezing everybody inside. While they were checking my driving license, my wife pointed out a number of Thai's driving past with people in the back, the response was "We don't see them", presumably no money to be made by stopping them, witnessed by the fact that no receipt was given for fine payment.
  22. The Personal Allowance is 12,570 GBP, and if you have to pay tax after an increase it will only be on the amount over 12,570 GBP and at a rate of 20%. E.G. if pensions totaled 13,000 GBP the calculation would be. 13,000 less 12,570 equals 430 taxable 430 by 20% equals 86 GBP tax so would still be 344 GBP better off, to say they would be worse off is totally incorrect, they would not be as well off as they might have been. Don't get me wrong, as a pensioner myself, I am not condoning the taxation of pensions (either state or private, by either UK or Thailand) my personal opinion is that pensions of any category should be tax free.
