How hard would it be for someone on a tourist visa to open a bank account ? Can an agent assist with that ?

With all of the extra costs to get to Thailand ( from New Zealand ) due to covid I was thinking of getting the STV visa. I have approached the Wellington NZ Thai embassy to ask a few questions about the visa. If I were to come for an extended period I would like to travel but the embassy have just told me Regarding to your queries, when you are applying for STV application, you need to provide proof of accommodation at least 90 days from the date of your arrival in Thailand. Without fully submitted all the requirements we cannot further processing your application. So I would need to book all of my accommodation before applying for the visa. No spontanious travel seems to be allowed ???? Given that I am 55 and retired I wondered what other options I might have if I want to spend 9 months to a year in Thailand ? Because this STV visa seems to be a non starter. cheers

Yes I agree with this , getting into a routine of regular exercise. Even gentle exercise, perhaps swimming. Work up to a decent distance . Also work on a healthy balanced diet. That at does not negate the need to talk to a qualified therapist. But it might help.

There is also the fact that there is a waiting list for quarantine in countries like New Zealand. So I could be stuck in Thailand for months.

You can forget NZ from that list, our borders are still closed. I’m fully vaccinated though.

I would examine the CCP map of shame to understand this move. Also remember that CCP diplomatic staff threatened to bomb Australian territory. Given that Thailand falls within the target area of the map you can understand that there will be trouble in the future. However, Taiwan will likely be the first target in the next couple of years.
