OK with me out in Buriram province

During April/May last year VFS closed, as HMPO in the UK closed. Now with such a high rate of Covid 19 infections in the UK it would appear likely thet HMPO will once again shut, followed naturally by VFS. 

Does anyone know what Immigration do with foreigners whose both passport and visa extensions have expired, and they have no way of obtaining new passports in the short term?

Did the sisters husband know his wife worked for a karaoke joint (brothel) I wonder.  Probably a "cashier"!

Maybe just revert to Lotus (many people still call it Lotus) - or perhaps CP Lotus, or even Makro Lotus

Deny, deny, deny...................... implement 555! Seriously, no country wants lockdowns because of the economic impact. But, governments have to react to changes. And Covid can cause changes rapidly.

 

Although to be fair, Thais are much much better at following the sensible requirements than a large portion of the British and other Westerners seem to be,

 

I notice the malls, some individual shops therein and supermarkets have tightened entry checks in response. And I didn't see any arrogant Westerners swaning around in the malls without masks which had become noticeable.

 

The danger seems to be the movement of people for New Year. The tourism people were forecasting 2 million movements of people. Wonder if some provinces will introduce strict entry and quarantine regimes like before. Burriram was pretty strict last time for one. 

2 million might be potential tourists somewhere in Thailand, but some 4/5 million alone are likeky enroute at this moment from Bangkok to Isaan.

May I advise on 2 matters.

1) Until 3 years ago a wife (Thai or otherwise) would receive a lump sum payment of £2,000 on the death of her husband + possible bereavement benefits which made a regular payment for any school children, or if the wife was over 45, with no children , a pension for 1 year. ALL DWP benefits for widows and children have now stopped for Thai widows.

2) When an annuity is taken out it is normally either just for the annuitant, or can include the wife, who will then receive up to 50% of the annuity on her husbands death. Many foreigners take out an annuity on retirement and if no wife at the time, they receive 100% monthly payment. If they then come to Thailand and marry (as many do) one cannot then add the wife to the annuity. Other alternatives exist to provide money for the wife after the husbands death.

All income originating in the UK is subject to income tax. As a UK resident/ordinary resident, you are currently entitled to a £12,500 tax allowance. Any income receied above that amount is taxed - starting at 20%.

State pensions are not taxed at source, but any private/occupational pension will be subject to tax, and if the combined pensions,including the state pension amounts to more than £12,500, tax will be taken at source from the private/occupational pension. Any dividends are, I believe, taxed at source.

Last post 6 years ago. 

My 6 pack of Schweppes Tonic Water, bought at Tesco, had 3 empty cans, and 1 half full, which when I opened it, still sparkled. The remaining 2 cans look OK and are seemingly full. Obviously 6 years on, Schweppes or whoever manufactures the cans have made no improvement.

Have just heard that the Governor of Surin has ordered security be tightened on the borders with Cambodia.. Why at this late stage. The Cambo;'s crossing on a daily basis has been going on for over 6 months under his nose.  And he did not know????????????????

Civilised?  Murder is the taking of someone elses life. The perpetrator was uncivilised, and deserves the ultimate punishment - anywhere in the world!

A death sentence, commuted to life, because he admitted to murder.  He did not need to admit. There was more than enough evidence to commit him.  Murder should always be met with a death sentence!  As others have said, he will no doubt be out and about within a few years. Sadly, his victim won't!
