Final new Chonburi orders. There is not much change from the prior orders and CCSA orders and what we announced this afternoon. We will give a brief overview on tomorrow mornings video and daily Covid19 update but as very little has changed besides the national and prior directions we won't translate it tonight due to the late release. We will talk about checkpoints, beaches, outdoor exercise areas tomorrow morning.

The official wording left something to be desired. The letter started off my advising Covid cases at Suvarnabhumi and the closure of exchanges. It then went on about no international post
This could be read and interpreted 2 ways
1) No international post accepted at Suvarnabhumi post office (if there is one)
2) No international post from anywhere in Thailand.

You know full well that unless they are ordered not to do something, most will do just as they want. Total lack of leadership has caused the current increasing numbers.

OK, I will try to answer your question in a way that you might understand it. The answer is it has nothing to do with the time that YOU can go to the shop, it is so that the shop has the extra time for cleaning and sanitizing which was never done before Covid. We close our shop an hour earlier now so that we can give it a good clean and sanitize everything properly which there was no need to spend the extra time to sanitize before this virus hit and then we go over the shop again in the morning before we open to the public so that our shop is safe from the virus until the first customer comes through the front door.
If that were given as the reason for early closing, the public would no doubt understand. But no reason is given. However, whats wrong with a 9pm closing of malls? Why would most normal people want to be walking around shopping Mlls at that time of the evening?

To be fair they work....right up until the very moment they don't.
Of course - even a monk or a talisman have a day off or are too drunk to assist when the need arises! None of the deities are ever around when needed even though from childhood one is promised they will be.

Too harsh I think close to a months income for many Thais that is like a 100,000 b fine in western countries.
3,000 b would probably be enough to get their attention.
No No NO! It is deliberately high to force the Thais to tow the line. Treat it as a warning. Nothing else works with them. As I said.......Stay within the law and nobody is punished!

Unless the traffic infringements are dealt with seriously, nothing will ever change. Whether no licence, no helmet, speeding or whatever, hit them initially with a 10,000Baht fine. For more serious matters which include no licence or insurance, driving the wrong way, running red lights etc and driving whilst under the influence or drugs or alcohol, then a more hefty fine and /or imprisonment is required plus a minimum 1 year driving ban
Stay within the law and nobody is punished!

My wife received our property tax bill earlier this week. It was the first ever. 3 typed pages resulting at a payment due of 8 baht!!!!! Must cost far more than that to both process the bill and collect the payment!

Contradictory statements coming from Buriram and Anutin.
When one arrives in Buriram on a bus or train, how do those controlling things know where passengers have come from. Trains and buses stop everywhere. Very easy to say you boarded at Korat for example (though of course Thais would never lie!)

Is this somehow personal for you?
They broke a serious traffic law, and as such should be deported in my view,. They, we, I, are guests in Thailand and need to obey the laws. Let those caught without seat belts, crash helmets, road tax and the like remain in Thailand and let THEM do the teaching!
Some 30 years ago in Pattaya a foreigner was seen swinging a cat around by the tail. He was apprehended and hit by another foreigner. Guess who was deported? The cat swinger is still here!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many law breakers, but what penalties were applied?
Apart from the need to obtain licences and insurance, helmets and masks, every vehicle ridden/driven by anyone breaking the law should be impounded for 1 month. Then and only then would people start to learn. A few hundred baht for serious infringements hurts nobody and no changes can be expected.

Proper law enforcement and very harsh penalties for all who break the law, whether it be speeding, no helmet, no lights etc. Minimum 10,000 baht fines and confiscation of vehicle (regardless of ownership) for a minimum of 1 month.
For those that oppose such high fines, because the Thais cannot afford to pay, my answer is simple. . Don't break the law, then you have nothing to pay!

This topic is about DWP state pension, payable from age 65 onwards in the past and somewhat later these days.
On the claim form one enters the address, and if living in Thailand your state pension is frozen.
Some people will apply with a UK address with payment to a UK bank, and as such no life certificates are sent out. You will also receive annual increases...................BUT that is illegal, and if you are found out, as some are, there are consequences, one of which being that you will have to repay all the extra money received!
10 minutes ago, Disparate Dan said:I have just come across this topic, having never heard of 'life certificates' before. I presume all of you guys who responded lodged a postal address with the UK authorities, and presume also you keep it up to date?
That amazes me, because in the 30-odd years since I was last in the UK I would never have considered telling them where I was - none of their business, so to speak.
I have had a small pension paid annually into my BBL a/c for some years now - no hint of any trouble.
So should I now tell them where I am, so they can contact me and start this certificate stuff, which seems at least as silly/time-wasting as the stuff we all complain about at Immigration here? Or should I just keep stumm as long as the annual payment is made? Any (polite) info welcome.

This lunchtime some 15/20 blue shirted gents (canvassers, local bigwigs) walked through my village openly handing out 200baht to eligible voters. Surely this is illegal, and carries serious consequences for those involved and the contestants.........Clearly these people did not have a care in the world. Thailand will remain corrupt forever!
