The official wording left something to be desired. The letter started off my advising Covid cases at Suvarnabhumi and the closure of exchanges. It then went on about no international post

This could be read and interpreted 2 ways

1) No international post accepted at Suvarnabhumi post office (if there is one)

2) No international post from anywhere in Thailand.

A bit expensive!

The answer is it has nothing to do with the time that YOU can go to the shop, it is so that the shop has the extra time for cleaning and sanitizing which was never done before Covid. We close our shop an hour earlier now so that we can give it a good clean and sanitize everything properly which there was no need to spend the extra time to sanitize before this virus hit and then we go over the shop again in the morning before we open to the public so that our shop is safe from the virus until the first customer comes through the front door.

If that were given as the reason for early closing, the public would no doubt understand. But no reason is given. However, whats wrong with a 9pm closing of malls? Why would most normal people want to be walking around shopping Mlls at that time of the evening?

No No NO! It is deliberately high to force the Thais to tow the line. Treat it as a warning. Nothing else works with them.  As I said.......Stay within the law and nobody is punished!

My wife received our property tax bill earlier this week. It was the first ever. 3 typed pages resulting  at a payment due of 8 baht!!!!! Must cost far more than that to both process the bill and collect the payment!

Contradictory statements coming from Buriram and Anutin.

When one arrives in Buriram on a bus or train, how do those controlling things know where passengers have come from. Trains and buses stop everywhere. Very easy to say you boarded at Korat for example (though of course Thais would never lie!)

So many law breakers, but what penalties were applied?

Apart from the need to obtain licences and insurance, helmets and masks, every vehicle ridden/driven  by anyone breaking the law should be impounded for 1 month. Then and only then would people start to learn. A few hundred baht for serious infringements hurts nobody and no changes can be expected.

This topic is about  DWP state pension, payable from age 65 onwards in the past and somewhat later these days.

On the claim form one enters the address, and if living in Thailand your state pension is frozen.

Some people will apply with a UK address with payment to a UK bank, and as such no life certificates are sent out. You will also receive annual increases...................BUT that is illegal, and if you are found out, as some are, there are consequences, one of which being that you will have to repay all the extra money received!

That amazes me, because in the 30-odd years since I was last in the UK I would never have considered telling them where I was - none of their business, so to speak.

So should I now tell them where I am, so they can contact me and start this certificate stuff, which seems at least as silly/time-wasting as the stuff we all complain about at Immigration here? Or should I just keep stumm as long as the annual payment is made? Any (polite) info welcome.
