Blow to Biden as poll shows Trump in lead for 2024 presidential election
Morch replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
@thaibeachlovers Kept for reference. Got a hunch it will come in handy on other topics, other issues. -

@ozimoron So Hamas had nothing to do with it, then? -
Thailand and Palestine to join forces to free Thai hostages

Antisemitic how? -
I thought it was an apt response for a post suggesting the 'solution' of locking leaders in a room to fight it out. Poster I responded to keeps posting up fact-light, biased accounts and views regardless of comments made, sources linked. Since he also got quite a few people on 'ignore', this allows him to spew his nonsense 'uncontested' (this is a 'thing' with wannabe ' pro-Palestinian' posters on these topic).

I am sure that some hostages were killed by Israel's aerial bombings. There's no getting around that. Then there were these three hostages who managed to escaped and were shot by IDF forces that encountered them. Other than that, I'm not sure what your comment is about. The responsibility for the hostages lives is Hamas's. As for 'do not know who owned that rocket' - I suggest reading. There is practically no one accepting the Hamas version, and most pointing out to it being a misfired Palestinian one. Raiding hospitals by ground forces did happen - after warnings, delays and with Hamas using the premises. It is not the same as blowing them up, though.

Schools, hospitals, places of worship and other such have a protected status. If used by an armed force in a way which abuses this status, the other side may attack them despite the protected status. It's been referenced multiple times by now on relevant topics (and obviously, on past ones). Hamas leadership is on record saying that the civilian casualties are necessary sacrifices for 'the cause'. Other vile comments about blood of children etc. These were mostly made by leadership figures well away from the fighting, in the safety of Qatar and elsewhere. For Hamas, civilian casualties represent PR points, a recruitment opportunity, and a monetary value.

Thailand and Palestine to join forces to free Thai hostages

Why would Israelis stop visiting Thailand? Are there any signs this will change? Not that I mind, as tourists here they are hardly a favorite of mine. -

More of your usual fact free nonsense. There are no guarantees hostages will be released, there are no guarantees they are alive. There is no 'genocide'. -
Thailand and Palestine to join forces to free Thai hostages

Judging from the article, it was just fluff. Not very interesting. It's not like the Palestinian Ambassador can do much about the hostages. -

There were Thai hostages released already. I don't know if there was a ransom involved, officially there was not. More likely that the one assumed held by Hamas are either not in Hamas hands (other organization or 'lost' in the mayhem). Another real possibility is that they are no longer alive. -

They are members of international bodies, got a semi-seat on the UN. It's complicated. -
US and UK hint at military action after largest Houthi attack in Red Sea
Morch replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Probably more to do with surveillance vessels in the area (aka 'spy ships'). There are some references peppering media regarding current situation and past incidents (one of them was sabotages a while back). -
There's this short horror story, Royal Jelly, by Roald Dahl. Also a tv adaptation of it in some series.

No, it isn't. -
Netanyahu rejects claims accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza

That may be so. But the point stands - Government lie, big organizations lie. I think that some of the strong commentary coming from organizations related to things in the Gaza Strip is also about covering their own failings - before and during the war. -
And worse, the bees know that.....

Fewer children would have died had Hamas not started this. Or had Hamas carried on with the hostage exchanges. Or had Hamas released the hostages. This was is not just about Israel. -

UN agencies and organizations lie as well. Same goes for human right organizations.
