  1. A couple more questions for everyone. How important is the unload speed? I see with 3 BB they offer 1gb/100, 1gb/500, 1gb/700, 1gb/1gb....as I want it for downloading only (streaming TV) and I'm not often uploading anything. Also I notice 3BB deals are now for 24 months. Can you still just commit to 12 months, or is it 24 only?
  2. Yes the guy next door has TOT and he kindly gave me his PW so I could test it, the speeds are no higher that my current DTAC, and the constant stopping and buffering is still there. We'll be going into the 3 BB office on Tue and will be looking at their giga TV deal.
  3. OK thanks guys, it's good to get feedback from you all, guess we'll go ahead and order it. How about the package deals 3 BB have, they include a bunch of TV channels in the package...anyone got any comments on that? I presume some of these TV channels are in English.
  4. Yes, it's in the area, the people across the road have it.
  5. I live out in the boonies of rural Pakthong Chai. For internet I use a DTAC sim, 30mbps unlimited data. I hotspot my smartphone and my laptop plus smart TV are connected to that. No complaints at all about the laptop. The smart TV however works great if I stick to YT, but when I watch other programs on RedBox TV or tubi and other such apps, then viewing becomes a problem with constant stops and those spinning circles. So would this be entirely a connection speed issue? And if so if I got 3BB with their 1gb download speed, would all be good? Or could the constant stops and spinning circles be due to other factors that may still exist even if I had 3 BB?
  6. Seems reasonable for a 120km AC bus ride, I guess you could save a few baht by going to Ekamai bus station and taking that bus, but 197Bt is a drop in the ocean compared to what you're going to be forking out once you hit Pattaya.
  7. I prefer Shopee. I've bought several things from them, and Lazada too, not a big difference between them but I've just found Shopee to be a bit better service, and faster replies.
  8. "and she doesn't know what I want." And that is the key part of it. We ask the questions because we need the information, 9 times out of 10 our wives or GFs don't know what we're asking about, or have no interest, and if they act as unwilling translators we get the info second hand and often mangled.
  9. My initial question about filters applied to the bore my wife uses that water for her garden. But the tank and pump setup we have is connected to the town water supply (nam prapa)
  10. It backfires on them from time to time too mate. A few years ago I was driving between Korat and Khon Kaen. We were out in the sticks and ahead I saw a bus had broken down and the passengers were milling around at the side of the road. About 50 meters further ahead was a Thai man, his wife and a small kid. They were well dressed and the man was trying to wave down passing cars. Obviously they were in a hurry to get to KK, perhaps they had to get to work, or make another connection. Anyway, I pulled up and got half out my car and asked him where they were going (I speak Thai well). The man just looks at me. My Thai wife sitting in the car winds down her window, so seeing another Thai the man goes blah-blah-blah to her, totally ignoring me. So I got back in my car and drove off. I just thought fk you. You don't like talking with foreigners. Well the foreigner owns this car and the foreigner decides who gets into this car. If you had given me the courtesy of a reply/response your troubles would be over and you and your family would be sitting in a nice AC car on your way to KK. But you don't like talking to foreigners, so you're still standing out in the blazing sun at the side of a road...som nam nah.
  11. Happened to me countless times too, it's the Thai Rak Thai thing. I noticed it immediately when I arrive at the airport 2 weeks ago, I asked a question to a woman at a counter in the airport, my Thai wife was standing behind me, the woman at the counter totally ignored me and began talking to my wife.
  12. Has anyone here recently taken the train from VTE to LPB? If so I'd like to hear some current details/prices/times. We're thinking about doing this trip around mid March, so any current info would be useful.
  13. All finished now. Today we had the installation done with an Advance 2000 lit tank and a Mitsu 155 watt pump. Tank cost 5.500Bt, pump 6080Bt, there was about 1000Bt for other bits & pieces, and 2500Bt for the installation (and the installer's price included all the electrical bits & pieces). So total price was 15,000Bt. We're very happy as we now have constant and very good pressure water. So I'd like to once again say thank you to everybody who contributed to this thread. All your advice and information was very valuable and enabled me to get a clear understanding of what's involved and what to do.
  14. I take Amlopine as well, I get it any any pharmacy, same as the Bestatin for my cholesterol, no problems getting these meds at any pharmacy in Thailand, no need for any prescription.
  15. All very helpful information, so thanks everyone. We're heading into town today to start looking at what's available and prices. I've got a much clearer idea of what to look for now.
  16. OK thanks mate, more valuable info I need. When you say a "house pump" and a smaller pump. Could you please explain that a bit more. Would that 150W pump sometimewoodworker posted a link to be sufficient.
  17. Don't get angry with me, I'm trying to sort all this out so it doesn't turn into an almighty bullsup. Yes, what you posted earlier today is very helpful. I thought I clearly understood what we need to get. Then lopburi3 says "better to buy a storage tank/house pump." Is this the same thing? I'm all confused again. So that's why I asked him for links, so I can look and see are we talking about the same things or different things. Yes, of course I read my own thread, I'm responding and thanking everyone....but please don't get angry and swear at me, I need help and getting angry and swearing at me is not helpful at all.
  18. Please, Please, Please show me a link or 2 to such a storage tank/house pump. I'll be buying a tank and pump in a few days and don't want to get it wrong and buy the wrong damn things and then later on have regret because I didn't know what I really needed. So please make this clear to me, show me what I should be looking for and buy.
  19. Thanks for your reply Hummin. I started this thread with the idea of pumping and filtering water from the bore. But we have since dropped that idea, and now going ahead with installing a water tank + pump connected to the town water supply.
  20. Excellent reply sometimewoodworker, obviously I know very little about this, so what you tell me here is valuable info. I want to make sure we do this right. Thanks for the links to pumps as well. It's been recommended that I get a 250W pump for this job. It's a single story house. Do you agree on 250W or would 150W suffice?
  21. OK guys, I'm now back in Korat and it's time to start this thread up again. We'll be getting this tank/pump/filters sorted and done (hopefully) by end of the month. There's a local guy who does water testing and installing the appropriate filtration. Tirak has already taken a water sample to him, and we're currently waiting on getting a report back from him, along with a quote for installing the filters. Around middle of the coming week we're driving into Korat city to the big stores (Do Home/Thaiwatasdu) to check prices for a 2000 lit tank, plus a 250 Watt constant pressure pump. All the other bits & pieces we can buy locally. Now 2 questions: 1) I presume it's better to place the pump under some kind of roof rather than have it outside when it will get wet with rain? 2) Tirak told me this morning that we'll need to have the pump at the rear of the house because it's illegal to fit pumps to the town water supply (nam prapar) and if the pump is at the front (where I intended putting it) some gov official may see it and we'll have a problem. This sounds like the usual Thai BS to me, but is there any truth to this?
  22. I do my annual retirement at Korat, and I've found there are slight variations in the requirements each year, nothing much, just an extra copy of this and a copy of that. So I always pop into immigration about a week before doing my renewal and just check on exactly what they require this year, and while there I get the forms for the renewal and the multi-reentry stamp (which I always get at the same time) then I can fill those forms out at home. So that's my suggestion, drop by your immigration office and find out from them exactly what they require.
  23. If any dog I ever owned intentionally bit me I'd pick up a piece of wood and beat it senseless, and then I'd boot its worthless as* into the nearest dog pound. No ifs, no buts, no excuses, no "the dog was eating". Biting the owner's hand is TABOO.
  24. KhunLA: many thanks for the reply and info. I'll be flying into Don Muang next week and my wife is meeting me at the airport, so I'll tell her to meet me in the food court rather than have her standing around waiting, it'll be noon by time I get there, so I'll be ready for some lunch.
  25. Is there a food court at Don Muang airport? If so which level is it on?
