A friend with a retirement extension of stay wants to get back into Thailand. He doesn't care about the actual coverage, only that it satisfies the legal requirement. On the TGIA website the policy premium depends on length of coverage. Can he choose the cheapest 30 day coverage if his intention is to stay around 8 months. Or must he choose coverage to match his extension of stay termination? Or to the date that he plans to leave Thailand?

I generally make a small deposit and then a small withdrawal of the same amount of the deposit. At one time my bank would use yesterday's balance on the letter and by making both the deposit and withdrawal then the balance in your bankbook will match the balance on the letter.

I am now receiving US Social Security to Bangkok Bank. The codes in my bankbook are KD FTT. Are these proper codes that would qualify for an extension of stay? I understand that one can mix and match, let's say 400K in the bank and 32,500 a month. Is any combination OK or must it be at least 50% in the bank and at least 50% in retirement income? The reason I ask is that I was thinking of moving 400K of my 800K to a higher interest non-bankbook account for 6 months of the year. But I am looking for a backup plan just in case something goes wrong and the money didn't get transferred in a timely manner. Lastly, does the proof of income method require a notarized letter from my Embassy?

I like that someone is going on record with a difficult to achieve aggressive goal. If they fall short and it's only 85 million that would be pretty good too. The bottom of Pratumnak Soi 5 is another loitering spot. Craziest I've seen though was Treetown at the end of the first curfew, might have been June 2020. It was a huge outdoor party. People were ready to let loose after a long lockdown. But beyond the morality and legality this type of activity is between 20 and 100 times riskier healthwise than it was back in 2020.

Opened a SCB EZ Savings account today. Currently paying 1.5% interest so a pretty good deal. The rep told me that even though other banks may not withhold tax that, SCB does withhold. I know I can file a Thai tax return to recoup the withheld tax but would prefer it not be withheld in the first place. Does anyone NOT have tax withheld from a SCB account? Does anyone use this account to satisfy the 800K bank requirement for an extension of stay or do you need a passbook account? Are there any hidden traps when using this account that you think one might not be aware of?
