  1. ubonjoe: that regulation effectively circles back to my post.
  2. senior IOs can legally & officially grant visas and extentions anyway they want. no Immi. rules that can’t be waived.
  3. Is it also true that if you leave thailand on re-entry permit with retirement visa and re- enter then get another 12 month extention of stay , all just before the original 12 month extention expiry, you would get 27 months in total from the original 3 mth visa ? Could that be repeated again on same original visa ?
  4. Raphael: “…….I obtained the 30 baht health card inBangkok using the Yellow Tabian Bahn “ No you Didn’t. The UCS “30 baht” Scheme is only for Thai Citizens ….who cannot hold Yellow TB. You may have possibly, with a Work Permit, secured some form of Thai Social Security….but not UCS.
  5. Fairynuff: yes indeed. the range of YB experiences detailed within this forum is quite extraordinary. In stark contrast to the Absolute Uniformity to obtaining DLT Driving Licences ! Full range of YB Municipal treatment; from simple NO, to simple quick YES, to Rational Conditional YES, to Extremely Difficult Irrational YES. My particular tessaban is notoriously difficult for ALL House Books, blue & yellow. Coincidentally, my earlier Blue Book was ALSO a Complete Nightmare. BB Reissue Required: Original BB given to me by Developer Seller was for Common Swimming Pool ! Which DID include Caretaker Apartments under Pool. 50k baht “ fee” from Developer. to correct THEIR obvious Fraud upon me. TIT big time.
  6. Police Clearance Letter: well known standard national or state online procedure for criminal record statement, for employment or visa, so not understanding the “what is this” questions here……. just google it……required at least for Consular Retirement Visa. Embassy have nothing to do with format. “ it is what it is” !Not Required at all for any local thai immigration visas.
  7. CMT: as suspected, it is clear you are accessing online longstay visa requirement not tourist visa. “visa exempt” entry poses no immigration or visa problems if finding online tourist visa problematical. once inside thailand you can remain indefinitely through various visa & extention of stay options available directly or through agents. Wyda: Consulates concerned only with original visa issue for fixed term. local thai immigration issue various non-tourist visas with short three month term which they will extend. local imm. also extend consular tourist visas but cannot extend consular non- tourist visas, all with 12 month fixed term.
  8. BB: right not to comply with that humiliation exercise. intended as two fingers to farang.would only be the start of further nonsense like perhaps “birth certificate with both parents names”……. consider going to Provincial Amphur to report / check these ridiculous “requirements”. “copy passport” here can only ever mean bio page, entry card, latest visa/ extn… nothing more.
  9. Eric Dohlon, Swedish - Thai Insurance Broker. Not Recommended to go direct to Insurance Companies. Let the Broker do all the Work after understanding your needs
  10. Check CHUBB PA Insurance. 300k baht per accident. my thai lady aged 40 & kid age 7,year premium 7500 baht each. I’m 65 annual premium 15k. I use Eric Dohlon, swedish- thai insurance broker who switched me from AXA to Chubb two years ago for better terms. One minor mbike spill handled direct between Private Hospital & Chubb. No Premium Increase on Renewal.
  11. Now don’t get me started on “Burn Notice” ! Amazing series. Good to see Lead Man Jeffrey Donovan appearing in Sicario & Wrath of God movies….
  12. Had the same experience as MuttD with The Americans. And I’m a sucker for any Spy Stuff but just wasnt getting any value out of it after S2, too slow.too focused on people not events, like a soap opera. Can see why its popular with Americans though, just as “MI6” is with Brits but barely made a ripple in the US.
  13. Hammer: yeah, originally “Spooks” in UK and “MI6” in US. Spook means Spy in all english- speaking countries but also in US a derogatory racial term of course. Recall that Hot Chocolate song about inter- racial marriage, “ … no spooks in this house” ….. Appreciate the Slang explanation. Little time for any forms of Reduced Alternative English like Jive or Pidgin or even Cockney but then I only tend to like Original Products, like Coke for example! Personally I also go for uplifting inspiring TV / Movies so tend to avoid the Crime genre unless truly great like Bogart movies or The Godfather (or The Wire) or Peaky Blinders……..
  14. richard: yes plus for myself, from memory:- 7) Police Clearance from Fingerprinting 8)Thai Witness Statements 9) TWS Translations Fortunately no “ Birth Certificate with Both Parents Names”, a popular “ hurdle” and “deal breaker” for myself as being Adopted I have Different Names all over the place and would never begin to explain that here.Too complex and not their damn business either.
  15. Ivor: YB certainly not economic in Cost / Benefit terms, horrendous humiliating 12 wk intermittent process, for myself & my thai lady, she being blue-booked at same house, presided over by a malevolent bitch toad……i.e. Municipal Civil Reg. Clerk. Did it for “Project Interest” Only. Benefits: National ID (supplemental process at Interior Ministry). Avoids Immi COR, Sense of Acheivement / Thai Embedding , thats it. No Material Benefit at all ( in my case) not secured by TDL or Passport. Heard its useful for Marriage Visa / Extns ? Costs: Est. 70-80 Manhours, inc. ten bike trips for documents from local town. Emotional Hits from Personal Irrelevant Humiliating Questions about our Marital Status & Families (power abuse big time). Probably 4k baht for outside Services. Will Never Relinquish YB or Repeat Under Any Circumstances ! That YB is my Personal Permanent Thai Address Cert. ! and Battle Trophy / Souvenir…..
  16. Will: got mine earlier this year. Interview with Muni Civil Boss, with Thai Interpreter, then Full YB List. Step 2 first, direct with UK Embassy via Online Form & EMS Mail. Then a top Translation Agency will use Step 2 doc to get, required in my case, Step 1 doc from MFA Bangkok ( Ministry Foreign Affairs) or, as you say, just produce a Passport Translation.
  17. If Licensed Foreigner Freehold Condo, Developer / Reseller must routinely provide it upon Sale Completion. Otherwise, take a Thai interpreter with you to your local Municipal office to determine process.
  18. requirements read like a 12 month longstay visitor(retirement) visa. are you sure these are for Tourist Visa ? if so, consider Visa Exempt arrival for at least 45-60 day stay.
  19. BBC List excludes Person of Interest, MI6 & Spartacus and puts the legendary 24, House and Band of Brothers near the end. Found The Wire quite unwatchable with excessive slang and depressing.
  20. Forgot about the Dye ! That Warm Rush like you’re about to wet yourself….But 90 minutes though, mine definitely 40 mins but only Brain.90 mins maybe Spine & Brain then ? or my brain so small !
  21. Remember doing Phuket BPH MRI Brain Scan years back as part of a Full Routine Med Check every two years.still got the pictures ! 12k List Price. Head First always standard I thought. Not Clausto. but remember yelling at the tech NOT to leave his viewing area during the scan after seeing him try to walk out ! My irrational fear was a power cut whilst being left or stuck forgotten in there indefinitely …..CAT Heart Scan 8k I think then. MRI is 40 minutes so you really have to be able to just relax, close your eyes and go over some plans in your head or doze despite the metallic orchestra ! Or get Hypnotized. Sedation Option is far too expensive. Sheryl has found you an Open Scanner in Bangkok I see…….
  22. mike: thoroughly enjoyed all these movies by suspending disbelief and analysis until after. constantly amazed by the original action sequences & special effects. just light relief, almost comedy, passes the time, nice to combine with a meal. my lowest seat price 240 baht. couldn’t bring myself to watch Jungle Cruise or Ten Rings though….think Ice Road opening 28 Oct. watched that on Netflix (Ipad) six weeks ago but recommend on big screen for sure……also be sure to catch “Nobody”. yeah, that “Void” movie is on a higher plane…….as is “ Free Solo” ( Honnold / Capitan free climb) ; reminded me of “Point Break” (Angel Falls free climb).
  23. sannok: tried googling that. possibly. but only 45 non white officers of all ranks from 7000 in RN so statistically most unlikely. us navy has some though.
  24. TRyan: any stats can be manipulated & deployed. ONE person in 3700 in thailand has died of covid.around 0.03% pop. my point is that these key statistics are found nowhere officially. instead we are confronted with “case death” %s, for Thailand, some eighty times higher. So I ask Members again, in all seriousness, WHAT is the significance of “covid case deaths”, in Thailand or Anywhere ? Initial Internet Search produced Nothing.
  25. if interested in uplifting real life do watch these three Brit docudramas :- “Touching The Void” : rated best ever Brit doco ” Last Breath”: sat.diver accident ” Commanding a Nuclear Submarine” :famous “ Perisher” course Last week : SFX Big Screen Fest watching No Time To Die, Dune & FastFurious9. And “Foundation” Apple+TV series at Home.
