US Supreme Court strikes down student loan forgiveness plan
ozimoron replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Rich people don't have to pay interest on student loans because they don';t have to take them out. Hence the inequality. -
Potentially it's the same. Rwanda has a history of having the worst massacre in modern times, worst since the Khmer Rouge in the 80's. THis is clearly the reason that the court of appeals found that Rwanda is not a safe pl;ace. The only possible argument that you could mount to suggest that decision is wrong is to consider the high court to be in the pocket of the extreme leftist marxists. The decisionw as evidence based.

Because somebody has to pay their social security. The better educated a society is the higher their income. Why do you think most European countries have only nominal fees with the rest paid by the taxpayer? The US has a major problem with social equality, driven by racism. -
In dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor was joined by Justice Elena Kagan and Jackson, who heard the UNC case. The ruling “subverts the constitutional guarantee of equal protection by further entrenching racial inequality in education,” Sotomayor wrote. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2023/06/harvard-united-in-resolve-in-face-of-supreme-courts-admissions-ruling/

Stop deflecting. I asked if people on higher salaries qualify for the scheme you are dumping on and citing unfairness for your justification. . -

If anybody is interested the Fender Newport and Monterey are on special at an amazing price at Banana and other places right now. Banana wanted 17,000 for the Fender Monterey until I showed them the deal on their website for 7590. The Newport is going for 4890. First pic is Newport, 1.9 Kg. Second is Monterey, 6.8 Kg, both sound excellent. The Monterey is mains only but the Newport has a battery. -

This is the Supreme Court playing Cruella Deville at the behest of Harlan Crow in order to hurt the economy before the election. This decision represents a loss of $24 billion every year to the general economy because poor students who qualify for the plan don't save money, unlike tax reductions for the rich which wind up in the stock market or in the Bahamas. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-08-26/white-house-puts-cost-of-student-loan-plan-at-24-billion-a-year Tertiary education should be very cheap, the economy benefits from it. Many countries do the smart thing, just not those whose legal system hates the poor. https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/080616/6-countries-virtually-free-college-tuition.asp -
You're confusing incentive with impediment. The incentive would be unchanged even if they were shot on site. They are escaping intolerable situations in their own country. That won't change unless the rich countries act to sort out corruption and lawlessness in the source countries. Punishing them on arrival does nothing to reduce incentives. The far right just want to build walls and ship them off to the salt mines to punish them for coming instead of working to help remove the push factors.

Trump is a criminal, Biden is too old and DeSantis is a fascist

Part of the reason for inflation remaining high in the US is because companies are having to pay their workers more to keep them. The economy is going to hell in a handbasket I tell you. They'll never re-elect Biden if this keeps up. -
I think the US dollar will weaken soon, so the baht should strengthen. The baht is at a fairly low level to the US, it's most traded zone is around 31 baht over the past fifteen years. From a chart point of view, the baht strengthened significantly from October to January and then reversed course to weaken in a correction. It touched the neckline of its current pattern at the end of February at the current price of 31.3. This week it stole that high at the neck line and will finish the week with a strong rejection wick on Sunday if the current price holds which it likely will being a long weekend in the US. This rejection wick is an evening star pattern and on the weekly is a strongly bearish (for the USD) candle pattern. Against that is that it had a strong bounce off it's last swing low at 32.7 and again bounced off a retest of the 200 week moving average and cleared all the major moving averages. The dollar should be bullish against the baht but there's that candle. I'm probably wrong but I think the baht will strengthen to 32 in the near term. The DXY is also looking weak and the inflation numbers today might reduce the expectations for more than 1 future rate hike in July. In the short term it could go either way but I expect the DXY to show continuation to the downside over the next weeks. There was also strong hidden bullish divergence for the USD at the swing low which is why the baht weakened after January. That has probably now played out.

I would think the demand for sim routers would be minimal. Several people watching HD movie simultaneously might overwhelm the bandwidth available on a sim except a fairly expensive plan. Most people get fiber, I have a 3BB connection for 399 a month which has nearly 1Gb download and it doesn't matter how far I am from a tower, etc. Last time I was here I did buy a sim router from Banana which worked quite well. This time I knew the condo had 3BB so I didn't bother to bring it back.

The Fed's favorite inflation indicator was down sharply today. Any minute now there should be a Biden hater along to tell us how badly the economy is doing.
