  1. Macron refuses to rule out putting troops on ground in Ukraine in call to galvanise Europe French president admits no consensus exists on such a move as he urges fellow European leaders to take action rather than wait for US aid France’s President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday he refused to rule out sending ground troops to Ukraine, but said no consensus existed on the step, at a meeting of 20 mainly European leaders in Paris convened by Macron to ramp up the European response to the Russian military advances inside Ukraine. Protecting France’s strategic ambiguity he said “there is no consensus to officially back any ground troops. That said, nothing should be excluded. We will do everything that we can to make sure that Russia does not prevail.” https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/feb/27/french-president-emmanuel-macron-ukraine-french-ground-troops
  2. Then let me educate you so you stop unfairly accusing anybody of being one sided. I have previously claimed that not one member here has not condemned Hamas for terrorism. If making claims to the contrary it is incumbent upon you to make sure your claims stand up to scrutiny.
  3. The families of Sandy Hook school shooting victims voted overwhelmingly in favor of a plan to wrap up Alex Jones’ bankruptcy proceedings by liquidating the right wing talk show host’s assets. Jones’ general unsecured creditors—comprised mostly of Sandy Hook families holding about $1.5 billion in defamation judgments against the famed conspiracy theorist—voted 100% in favor of a Chapter 11 plan that would methodically liquidate and redistribute his property and cash, while preserving potential legal actions against parties affiliated with Jones and his Infowars program. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/bankruptcy-law/sandy-hook-families-vote-to-liquidate-alex-jones-bankrupt-estate
  4. Seriously? You've never read that he condemned the Hamas terrorist attacks of October7?

  6. Why Trump won't debate Haley. He's senile and wouldn't stand a chance. "The mug shot, we’ve all seen the mug shot, and you know who embraced it more than anybody else? The Black population. It’s incredible. You see Black people walking around with my mug shot, you know they do shirts." https://www.rawstory.com/trump-bonkers/
  7. I used to get acid reflux badly for years, especially if I ate white bread or similar. Then I lost 10 Kg and the problem went away completely.
  8. Dinosaurs, being reptiles, are cold blooded. Maybe humans could adapt to being cold blooded and then we could survive those temperatures as well. A fortuitous (for humans) asteroid impact was the main culprit in killing dinosaurs.
  9. We started a group chat to help fellow doctors in Gaza. Then it went quiet Some injuries were simply not survivable, like the case of a 70-year-old grandmother shot in the head by a sniper. The last series of messages in the group detailed an onslaught of patients injured on hospital grounds, including a video sent by the surgeon to our chat of an operating room nurse who was shot in the chest while working in the surgical wing of the hospital. As the security situation of the hospital deteriorated and the internet became spotty, Alser left us audio messages detailing Israeli orders to leave the hospital or face the threat that the hospital would be bombed. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/feb/25/we-started-a-group-chat-to-help-fellow-doctors-in-gaza-then-it-went-quiet
  10. This is an international medical charity without a political affiliation. It is by definition a war crime to strike it. Under what circumstances could it not be so?
  11. Israel has failed to comply with an order by the United Nations’ top court to provide urgently needed aid to desperate people in the Gaza Strip, Human Rights Watch said Monday, a month after a landmark ruling in The Hague ordered Israel to moderate its war. While Monday marked a month since the court’s orders were issued, it was not immediately clear whether Israel had handed in such a report. The French aid groups Médecins du Monde and Doctors Without Borders each said that facilities belonging to them were struck by Israeli forces in the weeks following the court order. https://apnews.com/article/israel-hamas-war-news-02-26-2024-8682b5446e285a7fc641c9f869df9348
  12. I think the T sim is good for 6 or 12 months so a single top up will also last. I just got a message from them saying my service will cease in March if I don't top up.
  13. Prolly not relevant but I had the cheapo Boost sim when I came to Thailand and a week later Boost decided they weren't going to send SMS overseas anymore. Make sure you use only Telstra.
  14. You expect him to walk? Weak tea. The same ridiculous argument is trotted out for every climate change activist.
  15. If you can get a blank Telstra sim from oz you could register it using the mobile Telstra app and then have the bank use that number.
  16. I believe it doesn't. Kind of a special case for translators. Don't hold me to it but I recall reading that.
  17. Yeah, the one who's really rich. Not shocked that a rag like the daily mail not fit to be used as toilet paper does a hit job on a mining magnate who advocates for climate change action.
  18. Is there decency in the indiscriminate bombing of 30,000 Palestinians, equalling the total number of Ukranians killed since Russia invaded 2 years ago?
  19. It's unlikely that Hamas will agree to any plan that does not include 1. A path to statehood 2. A multinational force to keep the peace. 3. Aid for reconstruction of Gaza. The Israeli proposal includes none of those.
  20. An RNC member has proposed 2 noteworthy resolutions this week. 1. They should remain neutral until Trump has garnered the 1,215 delegates to become the presumptive nominee. 2. That they will not pay any candidates legal bills for any matter not arising from the 2024 election. The RNC’s members will convene in Houston on March 7 and 8 and could potentially vote on the pair of resolutions at that time. The obvious conclusion is that they believe Haley still has a chance or that they believe a shoe is about to drop on Trump's head fairly soon. If anybody has any inside info it has to be the RNC. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/draft-rnc-resolution-trump-nominee-legal-bills-rcna140346
