  1. you speak of this situation like it is comparable to back home. driving, traffic enforcement etc is a joke here and you know it lou. spare me. Was something in that comment incorrect, then? Spare me, indeed.
  2. so by that logic all thai should pay the 2000b as well. plus the 500b fine. Well, using your logic, all fines must be specific and not have minimum and maximum range and police officers must not have discretion! Fines have a range, officers have discretion and not every foreigner is fined the same as the Russian was.
  3. Um, which other poster ? Gawd. The OP (opening post) from where I copied that quote!
  4. Buy a helmet for 1 day yeah right Rent a bike and not use a helmet...yeah, right.
  5. "you all got it wrong". So did you. "...he faced charges of riding without a driving license and was fined 1,000 Baht, and reckless riding, for which he was fined 1,000 Baht, and also riding in the wrong direction for which he was fined 500 Baht. In total he was fined 2,500 baht. The motorbike rental operator was fined 2,000 Baht for allowing riders who do not have a driving license to ride their motorbikes". https://thephuketexpress.com/2023/07/12/russian-fined-2500-baht-after-riding-the-wrong-way-on-one-way-road-in-phuket-old-town-video/
  6. Quite, maybe the cops pick on foreigners on purpose cos they have money????? Maybe he committed three offences and maybe the rental company was fined also. Maybe you could read the link.
  7. They do but those reports don't make it to the English-language oriented media, for obvious reasons.
  8. There were...there's a link but most AN members don't read explanatroy links.
  9. Nonsense. They have a phone number, why don't you call them and ask them what the issue is instead of posting false and misleading information?
  10. How does it appear to be "blocked" as opposed to being "down", probably temporarily?
  11. Same. It's just down, it'll be back in a couple of hours.
  12. "A German expat [Mack is pictured] and his Thai partner have been arrested for allegedly trafficking underage children for sex. Nongprue and Provincial Police Region 2 Women and Child Protection officers raided a home on Soi Siam Country Club Feb. 18, apprehending the German [Mack] and a Thai man. Police had been monitoring the movements of the Thai man, who allegedly escorted a 17-year-old girl to the house in the Pattaya Green Ville development, with the German [Mack] following behind on a motorbike. There they found the German [Mack] sitting with the teen [the 17-year old] and a shirtless foreigner coming out of a bedroom [not Mack]. Later, police found a 15-year-old wrapped only in a towel. https://www.pattayamail.com/news/2-foreign-pedophiles-thai-pimp-nabbed-pattaya-trafficking-bust-203448
  13. What a coincidence, that's exactly what the OP reported, also! "Just two years shy of the expiry of the statute of limitations".
  14. Not even for taking money for sales? If he "took money for sales" he'd have to be working in the shop, not solely providing the capital, wouldn't he?
  15. How could he have a work permit for a business that doesn't yet exist? Even if it had been set up, he wouldn't need a WP to solely finance the business.
  16. They were in the second decade of searching so it was more than one decade's hunt, i.e. it was a decades-long hunt.
  17. Thai(land) Post is the Thai post office. EMS is an express (3 day?), signed for/insured postal service offered by Thailand Post.
  18. The weed shops are supposed to be licenced/registered to be legal and only Thais can do that.
  19. You cannot depend on a single report that doesn’t tally with any other reports Why not, what makes the other reports so correct? You cannot rely on those, either!
